I'm just obsessed with this show but none of my friends are into it so I can't talk about it with them. I've watched the entire series like 4 times over. Ha ha. If there are any other GG enthusiasts let's talk!

Love GG, though most of the characters are awful Grin Hated the April storyline and hated Dean. Also hated Lane's ending. I have some possibly controversial views; Logan is my favourite Rory bf and also I dont think Lorelei and Luke should have ended up together. Also I dont think Rory is that smart: I reckon Emily and Richard bought her way into Yale.

I loved it. The revival series was such a disappointment. I wish I'd listened when my friend said not to watch it.
10 years on, but it kind of carries on like there hasn't been a gap. It's like the characters lives froze for 10 years.

@dayslikethese1 YES!!! We're all meant to believe she's a child prodigy but IMO Lane was smarter and Paris monumentally smarter. I feel like the revival got one thing right - career wise she hadn't done as well as she expected to.

Also hates that Lane ended up in a sexless marriage with 2 kids aged 20. She deserved a better ending.

Consequentially why do so many American TV shows have people marry at 17/18/19? One Tree Hill was the same - is this what America is like or do writers take artistic liberties?

Dayslikethese1 but she got into Harvard and Princeton without any involvement from her grandparents. I always think she was pretty smart and thought she had too much drive for her career to have nosedived in the revival (which I too wish I hadn’t watched!).

Ooh yes, I’d love to have given Lane a better ending. She deserved something totally rock and roll!

I'm sad Lane ended up with Zach. Really not a fan. By the time of the revival it would be nice to know she was doing something else on the side really, preparing for some awesome career or preparing to buy her thier own place. Maybe this is unrealistic and actually that's more normal life after all. I feel like Lane always had more drive though. Can't see how she stuck with Zach.

Luke and Lorelai's ending annoyed me no end. I've also gone off Luke since watching it as an adult.

Lelophants · 13/05/2020 08:28

I think Rory's really smart and tbh in this day and age she's still done really well with her life. It's the reality of a lot of millenials sadly. We all had the best education, dreams that we could do anything we wanted and yet the world isn't set up for that market anymore.

Lelophants · 13/05/2020 08:30

But she's also a idiot considering her opportunities. Really wish she'd gone to Harvard, but choosing Yale was almost a sign of the choices to come.

Dozer · 13/05/2020 11:41

Rory was “book smart” / academic, but that v often doesn’t translate to material success in paid work, can relate to that! Particularly crazy competitive and changing fields like journalism.

Enjoyed aspects of the revival, but agree with PPs about Lane’s story: crappy, lazy writing!

Just want to thank you for this thread, I first watched it a couple of years ago but it's made me want to watch it again! Starting tonight 😊
