Delatron and the bit yesterday when Rosie was giggling at the idea of Apollo 11 landing on Uranus. That's a comfortably 'over their heads' and harmlessly juvenile one anyway.

I was thinking yesterday; 'just stop talking about being papped on your way home from hospital! Kids don't read the tabloids and they don't care about your status as a 'celebrity' at all, just your presence in their living rooms, as a friendly chap who does exercises.'

It really reminded me of a documentary from about ten years ago called something like 'so you think you can teach?' which set up Janet Stree-Porter, Tamara Beckwith (one time 'it-girl' sleb) and some bloke from Eastenders, as primary teachers. Their first lesson was to introduce themselves and get the kids to do the same. The Eastenders bloke did a great job, with a homemade poster featuring his family, his dog and his hobbies and easily got the kids to do the same. TB brought in a load of gossip magazines with pictures of herself... the children's eyes glazed over instantly.

This is the second thread I’m on at the moment where posters have ostentatiously decided to settle in and declare that they have no idea who the people are that are being discussed.

I don’t understand it - there’s shedloads of threads on MN that I don’t find relevant or interesting - but I never feel the need to post on them all to declare to everyone that I don’t know what people are referring to!

Yes, I know from experience as a teacher that talking about yourself is an instant way to get kids to stop listening to you. Unless it is something amazing (and it really would have to be something amazing!) kids don't give a shiny shite! They like talking and hearing about themselves and that's it!

I don't think this thread is vile in its intentions OP, I also wondered the same. He hasn't mentioned it so I wondered if they'd had a family member over. But then again the youngest could have been in a bouncer in the room asleep & the older one could have been in front of an iPad or tv.

Napping or playing just off camera Id imagine or there's a monitor to see them on... it's just 30 mins!

I guess all children are different. There’s no way I’d have been able to do a live broadcast for 30 minutes and guarantee a baby and a toddler would stay quiet. Baby might wake up if it was sleeping. Toddler might get bored with people pig etc.

No criticism and fair play if they can make it work.

He does teach PE in schools.

No he doesn't. He goes into schools or live streams into them as a minor celeb, does his workouts and the kids copy him.

He doesn't plan schemes of work featuring all the required skills including throwing, catching, moving in different ways, different teams games involving attacking and defending, dance, gymnastics, having to engage kids who really can't be arsed to play hockey or rounders and lie on the edge of the field having a chat, making sure he has all paperwork ready to show progress for Ofsted, you get the jist.

I'm not knocking what he is doing, I think what he has achieved from his beginnings in his local park is fantastic and I really think getting kids active by doing his workouts is a great thing to do, especially at the moment. I have a couple of his books and I find his workouts pretty effective.

He just isn't a 'PE teacher' that's all, there is more to 'physical education' than standing in front of kids and doing a HIIT workout 🤷‍♀️

I'm not a PE teacher by the way 😂although I am a primary teacher and have had to teach PE amongst everything else along the way!

Every kid is different, dude. Also, they’re really young - under six months and under two IIRC. So they’re pretty fortunate to get 30 minutes of (mostly) uninterrupted broadcast time.

FWIW I’ve seen plenty of sneering about Joe in this thread.
