so say when coffee shops and restaurants are allowed to reopen, will you be going? I can’t see myself being comfortable going out to eat for quite some time

God the dementors are almost salivating at the prospect of a deadly second wave i swear some of the almost enjoy predicting death and destruction

joystir59 · 05/05/2020 18:04

Will get take out coffee. Already go out to walk myself and dog, buy feed and meds and to go to work

Peggysgettingcrazy · 05/05/2020 18:04

Clearly doesn’t take this situation despite the fact thousands have died from it

Eh?

Some if us think about deaths from Covid AND the deaths from a fucked economy. We also believe that we can remain relatively safe, and support businesses and have a more normal life.

We don't believe someone's life was worth more, because they died of Covid. People who will die, due the absimal economy are equally as valuable as those dying from covid.

Which is why i will use businesses and spend money. If eveyone who could, did. It would help immensely.

Coronabored · 05/05/2020 18:05

I just want choices back to make my own mind up.

Spudlet · 05/05/2020 18:05

DS has grown out of his shoes during lockdown so we are going to have to venture to a shoe shop to get his feet properly measured. And I am looking forward to a nice coffee and a bit of cake that I haven’t had to bake. However my trips out were almost all takeaway coffee and playground excursions so probably fairly low-risk, comparatively speaking. So once it’s decreed safe (which I reckon won’t be for a while anyway) we’ll crack on. I’m also looking forward to parkrun starting again, and being able to go to the woods or a local long-distance trail for a run.

It will all happen in good time.

PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock · 05/05/2020 18:05

The thing is a lot of people do not have the luxury of choice when it comes to being out and who they are in contact with, so it's a bit daft(at best) to suggest to those people that they are reckless, irresponsible or selfish when they do that out of actual choice or for something that would benefit them rather than the general public.

fourpeasinapod · 05/05/2020 18:06

And there will be a day where we can go out without having to social distance. It will take time that’s all

I will deffo.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 05/05/2020 18:07

And yes
I will be out when lockdown eases
DH and I have both had to work outside the home since this started
And at some point the government will
Stop paying people to stay at home and people will be expected back in work
Unless you're mega rich or can somehow magically work from home and educate your children (and at some point in the future you will have to educate them yourself as school will not have the resources to educate the pupils in school as well as those who have chosen not to go back) how the fuck will you pay the bills and keep a roof over your head?

Stellamboscha · 05/05/2020 18:09

Hell -yes!!!!!!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 05/05/2020 18:09

And people are already dying and coming to harm because of the damage to mental health and health services that have stopped or been scaled back due to the crisis
All the people screeching "people are dying"
No shit Sherlock
And people are dying of other things and suffering permanent disability
Or do they not matter because they are keeping the dementors happy because they are dying of something other than covid

fourpeasinapod · 05/05/2020 18:10

I’m not sending my DC back to school in September. It’ll be November before I even think about that!

So how long will you keep them home for? Until there's a vaccine?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 05/05/2020 18:11

Cracking
Like I said more space and less pupils for the teachers to have to deal with

fourpeasinapod · 05/05/2020 18:13

@PrincessConsueIaBananaHammock until I see a definite fall in cases

Tbh they should just keep schools closed during 2020/21 academic year. Write it off now.

My children will go back when school re-opens. Again this is my choice and like I said that is all I am after. What I don't appreciate is people on here screaming that we don't care and the Helen Lovejoy "won't someone think of the children" screeching.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 05/05/2020 18:14

And great
DH can be run off his feet even more until 2022 teaching and still having to resource remote learning because Jinny's mum won't send him back to school
But my DC's will have to continue being in school so that DH can teach and support vulnerable pupils, key worker pupils and provide umpteen online resources for those choosing to access online learning
Great
I expect his already exhausted mental health from all of this to crumble rapidly

I’ve assessed the risk. Current proportion of people dying from CV-19 is 0.042 of UK population. Even if it continues to rise it’s still going to be a minute risk. Why are people so terrified of dying from this disease? Am I missing something?

Waxonwax I’m a healthy 62 year old (as far as I know) and I feel the same as you. I’ve been going out to work as usual in a medical practice ever since lockdown started and grateful to get out of the house and go somewhere else during the working week. I can’t wait until I can go out and have a meal/drink/coffee but sadly this seems a long way off.

TeensArghhhh · 05/05/2020 18:15

No. I’ll wait to see what happens with those who think lockdown was a waste of time for a few weeks.

People are chomping at the bit to visit McD’s, coffee shops and hug their mums. Not many are happy to send their kids to school or return to work though. I’m happy to stay indoors and see what happens over the next few weeks.

Maybe the Nightingale Hospitals will be needed. Hopefully they won’t. I can wait

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 05/05/2020 18:15

Really?
You want to write off next year as well
Dear god
Please home school your kids forever and let the rest of us get on with it
My kids mental health is as important to me as their physical

fourpeasinapod · 05/05/2020 18:16

@hobnobsaremyfave yes I do think schools should remain closed until September 2021

A level and GCSEs should be cancelled next year as well.
