Is there a ghost in my house?

Hi, I'm quite freaked out to be honest and, whilst I don't mind skeptics, I don't need to be told I'm being ridiculous. I'm really scared.

Bit of background:
As a teenager, I did stupid things at sleepovers with my group of friends (we did a seance o and we tried to 'communicate' with spirits). It sometimes 'worked' and sometimes there was nothing. My best friend literally horizontally floated in front our eyes when we were around her in a circle (no alcohol or drugs had been taken). We never broke it so I wonder if this is the effect.

Anyway, fast forward. There was a spot sometime after that in my room that I always 'felt' something watching me at a certain time (roughly between 2-4am). Not particularly nice but never harmed me. Now, four years later, I live with DH, 2 kids and his grandmother temporarily and three dogs. There's always been a 'spot' (next to the bottom of the stairs) that I've had that same feeling of energy at night (once in the living room too). Again, never been touched. Since the beginning of this year, I've felt it in my room. Pretty much continuously on and off, more prominent at night (this room is a lot smaller and the spot is next to the door). Anyway, up until this point, it's all 'feelings'. However, last few weeks DD (3) has been waving out of the living room door into the hallway. I asked who she was waving to and she said 'the man' (DH was in the room too). I asked where he went, she said upstairs. DH went but obviously no-one was there. I keep seeing 'it' out of the corner of my eye but definitely there (one year old keeps smiling and waving at thin air and the dogs bark at the same time he does that). Then, last night, DH was downstairs as he couldn't sleep (this is about 4am now) and came up (I was awake giving one year old milk) and he asked if I was calling his name. I said no and he was really freaked out, said it was clear as day. He even woke his nan up and she said it wasn't her. I'm really scared, I don't know what to do or what it is. Has anyone had anything similar or got any advice? I promise I'm not making it up but if you're sceptical then please just leave it, I'm scared. TIA.

Did nobody else do the levitation thing as kids? We used to sit around, and like op said, 2 fingers each under our friend. We "lifted" people fairly high into the air. But it never felt like their was any weight whatsoever.

One friend opened her eyes and dropped to the ground.

I've always assumed there was some scientific explanation around how that worked though

TrainspottingWelsh · 02/05/2020 23:52

@crustycrab yeah, we called the explanation alcohol or drugs, or both. Similar to when some hay bales chased us across a field one night. I suppose it's possible they were possessed bales because we all saw them, but I imagine the fact we'd all imbibed the same stuff beforehand is the more likely explanation.

When I was a little girl, we lived in a house where similar things would go on. The dog would stare and bark at nothing. Things would move around. Voices would call out in my Mum's voice. My mum was once in the bath and heard my dad whistling and coming up the stairs....he was at work. I would play inside the cupboard in my room with a multitude of invisible friends. People didn't like visiting. My parents divorced and we sold the house. In 20 years it's sold 9 times. My mum actually knows the new owner and when she spoke to her she said "there's something horrible in this house but I keep telling it to go away and it's stopped happening so much"
I don't know if that's helpful but I do think you must assert yourself. It's your house.

@TrainspottingWelsh we didn't drink or do drugs then. This was in middle school so we were around 12 years old. Completely sober and we did it several times.

Never been chased by a hay bale though

@memblemumble I hope you had a good night and feeling a bit better for sharing. I would be terrified if I thought I had an evil spirit in my house but fortunately I know they're not real. There is a rational explanation, I promise you, and you don't need to be scared. Maybe try to hang on to that?

ALovelyBitOfSquirrel I've been too frightened to. Love your username btw

Thank you OP Grin

We had " the chat" with whatever/whoever is in ours and it got better. Didn't stop entirely but got much better.
