I am from Norway and we have got a british store called iceland food in Oslo. My british friends say that i should try spaggeti hoops because it is so popular in UK. So I did that. I don`t understand how it can be so popular. Do you like spagetti hoops? I just ate it from the box. Maybe I should add something more to it ?

I'm British. They are revolting (hot or cold) and an embarrassment. Baked beans though are terrific either way.

libertyminty · 29/04/2020 19:58

They are absolutely revolting. When I was younger and went to Brownies, a girl in my six used to have them every time before Brownies started. I could smell that horrible spaghetti hoop smell on her, I hated it and actually begged my mum to let me stop going. Shuddering at the memory. 🤮

PorpentiaScamander · 29/04/2020 20:00

@norwegianWomen try Marmite if they have it. Hot toast with lots of butter and a very thin layer of marmite. You'll either love it or hate it.

maddiemookins16mum · 29/04/2020 20:02

@libertyminty yikes I hope you weren’t at Brownies with my DD 😊 🤣🤣

Figgygal · 29/04/2020 20:02

I love spaghetti hoops

My real can’t be arsed meal is spag hoops with a pile of toast

Inthemuckheap · 29/04/2020 20:04

They are vile.

MoronOxy · 29/04/2020 20:05

They are the food of the devil 🤮

ShowOfHands · 29/04/2020 20:06

Definitely try marmite. I have recently discovered that you can roast potatoes with marmite and they're surprisingly delicious.

@ShowOfHands roast potatoes with marmite? Please tell me more.

Wewearpinkonwednesdays · 29/04/2020 20:09

YANBU they are disgusting!

bobstersmum · 29/04/2020 20:10

I don't like hoops either! They're like mush, nothing like pasta and not tomatoey enough!

ShowOfHands · 29/04/2020 20:12

@PorpentiaScamander you can add bourbon too apparently!

whensmynexthol1day · 29/04/2020 20:13

I used to love them but pretty sure they've taken all the salt and sugar out and now they are yuk!

woodencoffeetable · 29/04/2020 20:14

it's the most pointless food imo.
if you want pasta - have pasta.
but this tinned stuff is gloopy and way too soft. plus it tastes weirdly metal-y.

Lairymary · 29/04/2020 20:15

No, they are horrid. Bland, soggy "pasta" in an overly sweet watery sauce that tastes nothing like tomato.

DartmoorChef · 29/04/2020 20:17

Your english is very good.

Tinned spaghetti hoops goes really well with poached eggs and proper homemade chips. 😁, and thickly buttered bread.

Basically you treat them the same as you would baked beans in a can.

ohthepigeons · 29/04/2020 20:18

You're not wrong. They're vile.

Moonshinemisses · 29/04/2020 20:18

Mmm having hoops for tea. Buttered white toast, cheese on top and brown sauce. Perfect

Iwantacookie · 29/04/2020 20:18

OP steer clear they are vile

CommunistLegoBloc · 29/04/2020 20:18

I absolutely hate spaghetti hoops. I have ever since childhood. I really wanted to like them because of all those shapes they could also come in - alphabet and cartoon characters etc. But they're horrible.

MintyMabel · 29/04/2020 20:18

Wow, unusual. I’ve spent a lot of time in Norway. Never met a single Norwegian who didn’t speak English. I’m told 95% of Norwegians are fluent. Especially in and around Oslo.

I daresay there is a lot of Norwegian food which wouldn’t go down well in the U.K. either. Lutefisk or Grillpølse for example.

TroysMammy · 29/04/2020 20:24

Every so often when shopping I'd think "oo spaghetti hoops, I haven't had them for ages". Then when eating them I realise why. They are absolutely disgusting. I now have them on my anti-shopping list "do not buy tinned spaghetti because it tastes like shit".

SlimBig · 29/04/2020 20:26

Spag hoops are ace. With vinegar, salt and cheese grated on top. Don’t judge.

That is an awful lot of fannying around for roast potatoes!
