To be fed up of people mentioning my height?

I'm 5 foot 3 and people seem to always mention my height! I don't think my height is unusual for a woman??

Snap!! 5'4" is average apparently, so we're not unusually short.

BizarreBizarre · 29/04/2020 13:21

I was called a short cock once because I rejected a knobheads advances once

Couldn't agree more! I'm 5ft2 and it seems to be great source of amusement for some people. 🙄

Wolfgirrl · 29/04/2020 13:34

5'3 is perfectly average.

There seems to be a big song and dance these days of calling any woman under 5'5 'petite' even though 5'4 is average!

I would only say 5 foot and under is actually petite.

ActuallyItsEugene · 29/04/2020 13:35

I'm 5ft Sad and shrinking. I'd say 5ft 3 is perfectly average

ducksback · 29/04/2020 13:40

I am smalland rather like it tbh. Ignore the idiots!

GatoFofo · 29/04/2020 13:40

I’m 5’2 and never considered it an issue until my teenage dd started to go on about how freakily short she is (same height as me) compared to her friends. At first I was bemused, now I am starting to get a complex!

neverknewsomany · 29/04/2020 13:41

I get it the over way around as I'm 5ft9.

EatingIsMyHobby · 29/04/2020 13:43

I am also 5ft 3 and also get fed up with peoples comments about how short I am. Next time someone says I'm short I might tell them how fat/ugly/spotty they are! 😂

LadySlipper11 · 29/04/2020 13:44

Tonnes of comments about being 5'11 too. Why are people obsessed with height?!

BizarreBizarre · 29/04/2020 13:45

I'm taller than alot of women who are friends or who I work with aswell

Very rude.

Respond with "do you mean to be rude"?
while looking straight at them. Let it hang in the air.

Usually shuts up rude people.

Or you could answer "could be worse, I could be a bitch/twat".....depending on your mood😗😂

Mumof1andacat · 29/04/2020 13:47

I'm 5ft . My friend is 6ft. People comment on both our heights. People are just rude.

Badoukas · 29/04/2020 13:50

When someone says how tall I am I am always tempted to say how fat they are.

BizarreBizarre · 29/04/2020 14:36

Me too badoukas

This will be controversial but a few people I know who are short (Inc dm who is 5 foot) mention it the WHOLE time.

I'm 5'8" and they always bang on about how I can never understand their difficulties as I'm so tall!! I always find it really odd.

userabcname · 29/04/2020 14:47

I'm 5'3 and all my friends are shorter than me so I'm often called tall! DH calls me short though, but then he's pretty tall.

BogRollBOGOF · 29/04/2020 16:02

I'm 5ft 2 so only averagely short, and people seem to really notice it (and not just when I'm with 6ft DH Grin ) I'm guessing because the top part of my build is fairly small, it seems to exaggerate it more than with other people.

I was on the small side for my age group (roughly 40) the majority being about 5'4 to 5'7, but not unusually so.

The generation reaching adulthood now seem to be taller again.

DM was 5'2 and within the smaller end of average for her age group reaching adulthood in the 50s.

While 5'4 is average across the population, it won't necessarily feel like it if you're hanging around with a restricted age group.

heretobeanonymous · 29/04/2020 16:04

I'm the same, 5'1 ..barely. And always seems to come up Angry it's super annoying !

ImNotWhoYouThinkIam · 29/04/2020 16:09

Haha same. I'm 5ft1

I always find it odd when people ask if I mind being short. Well A, theres fuck all I can do about it and B, I don't actually know any different. It's not like i used to be 6ft and suddenly shrunk!

Although my nephew (6) refuses to believe I'm short because my dad is (hes 5ft3). Apparently Grandad used to be tall but you shrink when you're 60 Grin

IsFuzzyBeagMise · 29/04/2020 16:10

I would like to be 5 foot 3. I'm only 4 foot 11 :)
I don't think about my (lack of) height most of the time. Irish people don't tend to be very tall. Although I think that young people today are going to be taller than their parents and grandparents.

GrumpyHoonMain · 29/04/2020 16:14

5 ft 4 is the average female height across a whole population. In reality as women tend to grow taller with each generation if you are young it may well he a lot shorter than average amongst your cohort. Doesn’t make it a big deal though. Height is height.

TeenPlusTwenties · 29/04/2020 16:16

Please may I ask where you all get trousers from?
I spend my life turning up trousers for my 5ft2 DD1 and my 4ft11 DD2.
Even 'petite' ones often seem too long.

DD2 was most put out to be IDed in CEX when she was 15 and buying a 12 rated DVD...

Fiddlersgreen · 29/04/2020 16:16

I’m 5 foot 2 and feel the same.
Why do people feel the need to comment?!
Doesn’t help that I still suffer from acne at 36 so people think I’m much younger than I am (sounds like a blessing but not so much when I’m with my nearly 6ft 16 year old!) People look at me like I must have had him when I was about 12!!

Likethebattle · 29/04/2020 16:19

I’m 5’9’’ and most of my friends are similar or taller. The shortest two in our group are 5’5” so I always think anyone under that is short and I feel like a hulking lump next to them. My mother is only 5’ and my dad was 5’10’’ but my brother and I are tall. He is 6’3’ and always gets comments about his height. My friends husband is 6’8’’ and always gets told how tall he is, his answer is ‘thanks, I hadn’t noticed!’
