Some bits of humour on our local
Site. Last night some one posted that they had rescued a hamster or gerbil and asked if anyone was missing it. Turned out to be a baby rat, after she showed a picture.

Local lady wanted to advertise plants for sale outside her home for charity. She made an error and just posted her address. People were worried and there was lots of help sent for her. Was quite nice actually. She thanked everyone for their concern and I'm guessing she has now sold all the plants.

Ours is about to get 'interesting' I think as somebody has posted that they have bought 100 fireworks to let off tonight for Tom Moore's birthday.

TeensArghhhh · 30/04/2020 15:17

*Mine is mostly...

  • What's the queue like at Sainsbury's
  • Helicopter !!
  • Any got any flour?
  • Helicopter (again) !
  • Is this cat lost? It's been hanging outside in my garden all day*

Pretty much the same as mine. Mine also includes the never ending “cat missing” posts and today......two cannabis farms have been raided in local shops - that’s given our dozy village some excitement today 😁

BearSoFair · 30/04/2020 15:21

-How long is the queue at XYZ shop?
-Is the bank open today?
-Look at the rainbows my kids have chalked!
-Can anyone come and cut my hair?
-My dog ran off in abc park! (SO many more of these since lockdown, were these people never walking their dogs beforehand?)
-Is that a police helicopter? Again? What is it looking for? (now mixed with posts claiming that it's a helicopter moving bodies)
-I went to the park for my daily walk and look at all these people who were also out, this is why we need a stricter lockdown!! (Or maybe, y'know, they were just having their walk as well)

bookmum08 · 30/04/2020 15:26

TeensArghhhh today there have been concerns because the helicopter DIDN'T fly over last night.

Come to think of it I didn’t hear the helicopter last night either. Nobody has posted about that yet - maybe I will 😉

bettybattenburg · 30/04/2020 15:50

Maybe I should post, I haven't heard a helicopter for at least 2 days.

MarieVanGoethem · 30/04/2020 15:57

You have CONJURED a plane with all your talk of helicopters!

(Not on the FB group, just that was a bit alarming as I read this thread... we don’t really get many planes over this way, certainly not at a height you hear them, so don’t know what that was about, unless one of the Biggin Hill Spitfires has got [really quite] lost...)

amusedbush · 30/04/2020 16:05

Someone posted yesterday to say they’re shielding and haven’t left the house in six weeks, so could anyone local pop in to wax their eyebrows?? Grin

Lordfrontpaw · 30/04/2020 16:10

What, through the letterbox or something?

amusedbush · 30/04/2020 16:13

Right?? Everyone in the comments was baffled but apparently her Teen Wolf brows are more concerning to her than a potentially deadly virus!

ALemonyPea · 30/04/2020 16:13

This appeared on my local FB site today. Nobody bothers to check validity of such crap, but they're god awful to those who don't clap, they name and shame. Luckily I live in a cul de sac and none of my neighbours are crazy or do the clapping.

Plans for a socially distanced May Day “walk in solidarity with the key workers comrades” have, to my disappointment, gone completely unremarked on. Not even a wee emoji of approbation or disapproval.

MrsAvocet · 01/05/2020 14:57

Lots of videos of the clapping in our nearest town today. I am struggling to follow some people's thought processes. Earlier in the week, public flogging was apparently too good for residents who may have been spotted in the village shop twice, but now the same posters are waxing lyrical about hundreds of people lining the streets whilst lorries decorated with rainbows drive up and down. Some drove into town to watch, like they were going to a bloody carnival. How could this ever be considered essential travel? Mostly the nonsense on our local sites amuses me but the hypocrisy is winding me up today.
