Some bits of humour on our local
Site. Last night some one posted that they had rescued a hamster or gerbil and asked if anyone was missing it. Turned out to be a baby rat, after she showed a picture.

OP posts:

Competitive clapping on Thursdays

Appeals for fabric donations for scrubs and masks.

One random person sharing YouTube videos of 1970s music vids, because everyone should like the exact same music he does. I'm surprised the admin haven't deleted his posts for not being relevant to the town itself.

And on and on, same each day

Thorilicious · 28/04/2020 23:30

We've got a lovely thread at the moment about a guy who stands by the road leading to the local hospital every morning, to clap the workers as they drive into work.

PickAChew · 28/04/2020 23:36

Not on facebook but our nextdoor is full of people wanting outdoor work done, someone aggressively promoting their new avon business and all of us getting pissed off with her endless spam.

PickAChew · 28/04/2020 23:40

OH - who shot all the pigeons?

PickAChew · 28/04/2020 23:43

Are you in Durham, @aerosocks? All sounds like my daily life.

A juicy neighbour /encroaching house extension post the other day.....and the house extension owner actually came on to give their two cents back! Was gripping.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 28/04/2020 23:57

Helicopter!
But to be fair, a group member has also just been on to say they had an intruder in the house, while they were all home, that they think may have climbed in through their teen's bedroom window.

Yesterday the helicopter was out looking for a missing old man with dementia.

rubydoobydoo · 29/04/2020 00:04

A few opportunistic cats hanging around people's gardens, lost dogs, people complaining about other people queueing at B&Q, all pretty boring. We had a sinkhole a few days ago though! Grin

Patterjack · 29/04/2020 00:08

We don't have one. Half of me feels I'm missing out the other half is relieved we don't!

Stillfunny · 29/04/2020 00:16

We don't have one either. It would never work here ( Ireland) as everyone is somehow related by blood or marriage. So would result in HUGE divisions and permanent feuds.

nevernotstruggling · 29/04/2020 00:18

@bookmum08 you live on my estate Grin

Sparklingbrook · 29/04/2020 00:22

toomuchlikemyusername I live in a town beginning with a D but look at the other two nearest towns pages starting with a W and a B as well Grin

scrivette · 29/04/2020 00:23

Bonfires, do not feed the horses, a group of (about 2/3) teenage girls spotted in the high street who can't be from the same household, missing cats and more bonfires and horse warnings.

toomuchlikemyusername · 29/04/2020 00:27

Sparklingbrook yes, that ties in exactly with where I was thinking! Small world!

Astella22 · 29/04/2020 00:30

Some very nice wildlife pictures on mine and a local guy is posting some info on local history. Both are really nice I must say. Haven’t see any giving out re social distancing.

CrocodileFrock · 29/04/2020 00:32
  • Person who annoys everyone by beginning every post with "As a keyworker..."
  • Competitive clapping.
  • People offering 'generous donations' to the local community/care homes - aka offloading their rubbish on to other people.
  • Complaints about the neighbours playing their music too loudly (usually turning into a row when said neighbour comes on to call them a miserable cow who sucks more life out of the area than CV-19.
- 101 inspirational quotes that mostly get ignored in favour of the arguments about loud music.
isittheholidaysyet · 29/04/2020 00:32

Some kid lost his toy on a daily walk.
Someone else has an identical one, he can have for free, if he needs it.
Someone else saw a woman walking with the toy, asking if anyone had lost it.
Despite re-doing the walk, toy still missing.

Washyourhands48 · 29/04/2020 00:33

Drama on mine as someone left a load of stuff outside her house yesterday for free and whoever picked it up is now selling it on FB marketplace.

GlummyMcGlummerson · 29/04/2020 00:35

Some really angry busybodies moaning about lots of people being in Asda - including them presumably Grin the admin of the biggest local selling group has stopped for sale posts, is posting every day "STOP TRYING TO SELL STUFF YOU ARE PUTTING PEOPLE'S LIVES AT RISK THIS IS A COMMUNITY PAGE FOR THE TIME BEING" and then going trigger happy on blocking, deleting, removing people etc. I get the impression he has very little control in his personal life and this kind of power has gone to his head.
