Coloured Toilet Rolls.

What's happened to them?

Well, I know what's happened to them really. People don't want them any more so they don't buy them, so shops don't sell them. Why does everybody just want white? The biggest choice nowadays is whether you want your bottom wiped by a puppy or a koala.

Why don't you want peach loo roll any more? Or how about having 2 holders side by side and loading one with pink and one with blue?

My nan always said that coloured toilet paper gave you piles.

Mysterian · 28/04/2020 11:42

People used to match the colour to the bathroom suite colour.

All bathrooms are white now.

dudsville · 28/04/2020 11:43

It never occured to me but my initial thoughts are about having dye up against my body needlessly.

KatherineJaneway · 28/04/2020 11:43

I never understood the need for coloured toilet paper.

Tableclothing · 28/04/2020 11:45

I believe coloured toilet roll was considered a bit try-hard. Peach in particular hasn't been a fashionable colour since the 80s. That orange bog roll hurts my eyes!

FoxyBadger · 28/04/2020 11:48

Went to a very nice hotel in Spain a few years ago, all rooms decorated with a green theme and this included green toilet paper in bathroom. DH announced that, after use, it looked like chocolate limes Grin

Chouxalacreme · 28/04/2020 11:49

if you think about it , you do actually need to see the colour of your excretions to know if there are any problems.

Notso · 28/04/2020 11:49

I thought it was because the dyes were bad for the environment and also irritating some people's skin.

PawPawNoodle · 28/04/2020 11:50

If you want to spend ten quid to wipe your arse with lurid toilet paper then go right ahead!

That black roll seems counter-intuitive, how do you know when you're done wiping?

Connie222 · 28/04/2020 11:50

My parents never bought white toilet paper when I was growing up! Always had them to match the bathroom. First pink, then avacado.

Ah, arse wiping memories.

Vinorosso74 · 28/04/2020 11:51

I noticed "champagne" coloured loo roll recently. Yes, in Waitrose.

Mysterian · 28/04/2020 11:52

Does the colour "peach" still exist in anything?

Years ago I was told that white paper wasn't good for your bits as it was bleached.

Lamentations · 28/04/2020 11:56

I miss coloured toilet roll and I've also wondered where it has gone. We went to France last year and I was overjoyed to find carbolic pink toilet rolls in the local shop.

CruCru · 28/04/2020 11:57

I try to buy the champagne / pale yellow loo roll because I heard once that white loo is bleached with harsher chemicals which are bad for the environment (don’t know if that’s still the case).

Blingismything · 28/04/2020 11:58

I love the patterned loo roll in M&S, particularly the white with silver stars.

icebearforpresident · 28/04/2020 12:10

My mother in law still buys coloured toilet roll, no idea where she gets it. she also went on a deep dive online a while ago looking for coloured cotton wool balls to put it in a small dish she keeps on the bathroom window cill.

I realise she sounds like one of those mothers in law from this but she’s honestly not, just her taste in home decor is old fashioned.

ExpletiveDelighted · 28/04/2020 12:13

We ended up with peach when it was all that was left in Sainsburys a few weeks ago. It looked really weird. We do usually get a couple of rolls of Christmas patterned but it's small patterns on white, not coloured paper.

fairydustandpixies · 28/04/2020 12:14

*chocolate limes....yummmmmmm!

OldSpeclkledHen · 28/04/2020 12:18

Oh lordy!! What a memory - coloured bog rolll 😂😂

BusterGonad · 28/04/2020 12:22

My mum would sometimes buy the M&S floral loo roll, little posies of flowers. Very cute. I remember using it as a sheet for my tiny dolls at school and my friend didn't believe it was loo roll.

FadedRed · 28/04/2020 12:23

We are currently wiping our arses with tasteful blue and white puppies. Bulk order from t’interweb.

I was in hospital years ago - gynae ward - where it was actually quite important what colour discharge you had, so the nurses would ask you to check when you went to the loo.
But the paper was deep pink and went even pinker when wet, plus all the loos seem to have 25w light bulbs in them!
