A combination of rubbish eating, lack of water and codeine for period pain has led to me being constipated. I haven’t ever had it this bad and I am in total and utter agony. I usually go every day and I haven’t been in 4 days. I’ve tried mainlining fibre rich food, loads of water, going for a walk and laxatives. This morning I can hardly walk. I can feel the stools in my rectum And they are rock hard. I think they may be becoming/have become impacted. I’ve sat on the toilet for hours and I think I’ve torn myself, there’s no bloody but I was literally
Shaking with pain earlier, it was taking my breath away . I do not know what to do, I’m totally panicking. It hurts to sit down, it hurts to stand up. The pressure in my back/buttocks is unreal and it’s spreading down my legs.

Can I go the walk in centre? Or ring 111? I would really rather avoid that because I’m a single mum so would have to take 7 year old DS with me but I will do anything. It’s just so painful when I push, feels like I’m Labour.

Please can ANYONE off any advice on what I can do. Thanks

Hello,
I am 13 weeks pregnant and really suffering from constipation. Sorry for TMI, but since 2nd January I haven’t passed more than a few tiny rock hard circular pellets - and that has only been possible if I have a hot water first thing in the morning and sit for a long time and deep breathe on the loo.
I am feeling very low and emotional, this time last year I had 7 weeks of severe constipation (eventually relieved by colonic irrigation, but then followed by very inflammatory stool). I had tests last year and no IBD / Crohn’s disease.
I am trying various things - lactulose, lots of water, Oxy Powder (does anyone know if this is actually safe in pregnancy, I’m taking up to 4 in an evening)?
I can’t think of anything else, I have terrible haemorrhoids and i hate the idea of the toxins inside.
i had some movement with an enema, so did 3 over 6 days. However, I didn’t want to rely on them.

if anyone has any advice I’d be so grateful. Thanks

I suggest you make your own thread in the pregnancy board as you will get better advice and help there. This is a very old thread and may ot get any responses. Movicol is safe in pregnancy as is lactulose and your local pharmacist can probably help, if you can't speak to your midwife.
