Severe constipation- PLEASE HELP ME (Warning TMI!)

A combination of rubbish eating, lack of water and codeine for period pain has led to me being constipated. I haven’t ever had it this bad and I am in total and utter agony. I usually go every day and I haven’t been in 4 days. I’ve tried mainlining fibre rich food, loads of water, going for a walk and laxatives. This morning I can hardly walk. I can feel the stools in my rectum And they are rock hard. I think they may be becoming/have become impacted. I’ve sat on the toilet for hours and I think I’ve torn myself, there’s no bloody but I was literally
Shaking with pain earlier, it was taking my breath away . I do not know what to do, I’m totally panicking. It hurts to sit down, it hurts to stand up. The pressure in my back/buttocks is unreal and it’s spreading down my legs.

Can I go the walk in centre? Or ring 111? I would really rather avoid that because I’m a single mum so would have to take 7 year old DS with me but I will do anything. It’s just so painful when I push, feels like I’m Labour.

Please can ANYONE off any advice on what I can do. Thanks

If you want something natural to keep things moving buy V8 juice, a glass of that with a tablespoon of Olive Oil will keep everything moving, the Olive oil helps everything slide out.

Eat a bag of semi dried apricots! Seriously they shift anything.

blueglassandfreesias · 20/04/2020 07:12

Roast some veg with LOADS of butter on and drink 3 litres of water, works for me every time. I hope you're okay.

BemidjiMinnesota · 20/04/2020 09:39

Glad to hear you got things moving @PillowTalkFork ! What is your diet like normally? Could you incorporate more roughage and more fruit to keep things moving?

@Dowser Off topic, but how do you do a parasite cleanse? This seems interesting (and I have easy access to a private bathroom 24 hours a day now so might as well make the most of it!)

FilledSoda · 20/04/2020 10:37

I'd like to know about about the parasite cleanse too

Dowser · 20/04/2020 11:09

It’s the Dr Hulda Clark cleanse from her cure for all cancers protocol.
It’s clove powder in capsules, either buy in capsules or buy powder and gel caps and make your own. Then you want the black hulled walnut and wormwood tincture. You may be able to buy these separately...I have the two in a bottle from natures answer.

Start small and build up each day so your body gets to tolerate it.
Maybe one cap and and a couple of drops twice a day
There are quite a few protocols on the Internet , just go with which one suits you.
Here’s a few links
drclarkstore.com/dr-hulda-clark-parasite-cleanse.html

More info
drclarkstore.com/parasite-cleanse-directions/

There’s many protocols , that’s just to get you started.
I used to stick religiously to doing something, but now I just do my best
As the famous Dowser Raymon Grace says ..if you do nothing, nothing happens. If you do something, something might happen

If you do have a go, just try to stick to it for 4-6 weeks, which gives time for eggs to hatch and be killed off

It’s reminded me, it’s time for me to do it. I last did one about August.

Dowser · 20/04/2020 11:12

We weren’t together at the time but my late ex husbands oncologist reckoned his cancer was picked up from parasites . He lived in the Middle East and his job involved travelling to India and other Asian countries.

Swingingsally · 20/04/2020 11:15

Nothing today add I just wanted to say your in very good hands op.

This is definitely a mumsnet speciality.

Dowser · 20/04/2020 11:24

I don’t know about that one, pillowtalk. Not one I’ve used personally.
Normally I shy away from most allopathic medicines but good elimination is vital to our survival, I make an exception for the muvicol.
I was pleased to see it contains a lot of electrolytes which I take as supplements after meals in the form of concentrace solution and the Magrocol, is inert and just passes through the bowel. I’ve got it down to 1/2 packet a week now, so I don’t feel too bad about taking it.

I find my everything but the kitchen sink home made gluten free Oat muesli definitely has been a game changer And As well as tasting delicious it does the job.
Yes, it’s a bit boring having the same thing for breakfast every day..but I’d chose boring any day over the sheer pain and frustration of constipation.
Definitely see it as a long term plan of about 6 months.
Look at all the fear and stress we are under now.
The gut definitely reacts to that. In my case it’s like an early warning system. The night before a flight. Then poorly for the first couple of days of my holiday. I do everything I can to avoid that situation, but it’s impossible. I just seem to be wired wrong.

At least I can help thingS along by working with my body on its physical level and give it what it needs To do it’s job efficiently. The emotional and mental level..well I’m still a work in progress.

Swingingsally · 20/04/2020 11:38

@dowser

Have you heard of cosmocol

Dowser · 20/04/2020 11:43

Yes I have cosmocol..it’s the cheaper version of muvicol that my doctor prescribed for me
Laxido, muvicol, Cosmocol..all meant to be the same

dayslikethese1 · 20/04/2020 11:44

I find Fibogel (a fibre supplement you add to water and drink) gets things moving when constipation is in the beginning stages (i.e. things are just a bit slow/a bit of a strain). I always have some in my cupboard. Obv when it's worse like you had, you might need a proper laxative. And coffee helps!

Swingingsally · 20/04/2020 11:50

Thanks dowser.

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 20/04/2020 11:53

Beans on wholemeal toast did it for me when I had pregnancy related constipation.

BemidjiMinnesota · 20/04/2020 12:05

That's great Dowser, thanks. Smile

themuminator · 20/04/2020 12:17

Lots of great advice.

I just wanted to add that you might be best seeing medical advice. I had this exact thing after a recent operation and codeine.

I went to out of hours gp. They were great.
I also had a urine infection which I would never have thought I had. I was in agony, rolling around on the floor.

They gave me Laxido and I had to have 8 sachets per day. Plus some cream which was amazing.

Please consider getting medical help if you haven't yet. But hope you get it sorted soon.

Dowser · 22/04/2020 00:01

Muminator..what was the name of the cream please?

I’d be a bit careful with Fybogel..I’d just be a bit worried that it bungs you up like a cork at the top.
But if it works for you..then that’s fine

I’d prefer to use something like that when I know the bowel is working fine , which is why I like the idea of the muvicol stipulation hydrating it

But I’m not a doctor..anything I’ve learnt for myself is all trial and error
Lots of it.

Haggisfish · 22/04/2020 00:06

Poor you op. I think it’s the codeine, not diet. If I only take one 30g codeine tablet it has a constipating effect for the next two days. My bowels literally grind to a halt. I had to take it regularly for a week once and it was horrendous-it took me weeks and weeks to get back to normal. Ibuprofen is much better for period pain.

Opinewine · 22/04/2020 01:27

I had this post surgery. Morphine gave me constipation. Codeine does the same, I can only take paracetamol and you would only get me on morphine if an operation was life or death now. I was on lactulose for 3-4 days and the nurse was threatening an enema. Eventually I had a guiness record poo, which I was kind of pleased about but ended up with hemerrhoids which was probably the worst part of the whole operation.

Codeine aside prunes are the best IMHO for daily regularity. There is a reason why they are on the daily menu in hospitals.

Defo keep up veg too even if just from frozen.

themuminator · 22/04/2020 07:50

Dowser - Proctosedyl ointment

Presume it is only prescription but worth knowing to ask for it as it's magic.

Contains hydrocortisone and cinchocaine, also lanolin, liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin.

ElsieDear · 22/04/2020 07:54

Bless you. Go to chemist and ask for movicol and a suppository to help lubricate the stools near your rectum.
