So we have established that Mrs Browns Boys is definitely the worst UK sitcom of all time, but now it’s time to flip it around and see what people think of as the best UK sitcom of all time.

Same rules as before (and yes, for the purpose of this thread Ireland does count). Looking forward to seeing what people’s suggestions are

and yes I will do results again at the end!!

The only ones are the best usually. I love loads of old sitcoms. Some more modern ones like Gavin and Stacey are gold as well. Can't vote for my favourite though..

Hi de hi! Classic though I maybe remembering it from my childhood as far better than it actually was! But Miranda, Outnumbered and Only Fools were all great too!

Ahhh this is as hard as my Weetabix or Cornflakes decision I had to make this morning. Lockdown is seriously getting to me.

I vote for Miranda!

I originally said Only Fools... but I’ve also always said that The Detectorists was sublime, TV perfection. It’s just so different from Only Fools and Horses, subtle rather than belly laughs. OFAH ran for seven series over 10 years and had several Christmas Specials. The Detectorists wound up after 3 series, but it will always hace a special place in my heart.

DaydreamingDay · 18/04/2020 17:09

I liked Me and My Girl. Have really fond memories of it.

Ive loads. And agree with a lot already said.

How not to live your life was hilarious.

A controversial choice based on how the last thread went but ... On the Buses Grin.

TheoneandObi · 18/04/2020 17:15

Detectorists
Just finished all three dearies and I'm bereft it's over
Tho I'm not sure it's strictly a sitcom?

Toomuchgoingon · 18/04/2020 17:17

Another vote for The Detectorists.
Also Yes Minister/ Yes Prime Minister and Blackadder.......

iklboo · 18/04/2020 17:17

Oooh a tough one. After a rewatch it's a very close call between Father Ted and The IT Crowd (it's chocolate!). I think IT crowd just edges it.

RuffleCrow · 18/04/2020 17:22

This Country!!!!

It's a newbie but it absolutely blows my mind. The dialogue is priceless; the characters are much more subtle than you'd think; it was made on a shoestring; it's hugely relevant; the acting is exceptionally naturalistic and it feels real - but only a handful of the main characters are played by trained actors; it's heartfelt, poignant and laugh out loud funny. And I have a huge crush on Kurtan Blush

Also love:
Fleabag
The Good Life
The Office
Outnumbered
Father Ted
