So we have established that Mrs Browns Boys is definitely the worst UK sitcom of all time, but now it’s time to flip it around and see what people think of as the best UK sitcom of all time.

Same rules as before (and yes, for the purpose of this thread Ireland does count). Looking forward to seeing what people’s suggestions are

and yes I will do results again at the end!!

Definitely The Brittas Empire

I've just realised two Scottish wonders might sound like the title of a sit com, it isn't. I was just referring to two wonderful Scottish sit coms.

The Good Life
To the Manor Born
Ever Decreasing Circles
Allo Allo (first 3 series)
Dinner ladies
The Vicar of Dibly

Only fools and horses

redastherose · 18/04/2020 18:01

Sorry posted too soon the above list are all really good but...

My favourite though and vote for best is Yes Minister and Yes Prime Minister. Still so relevant when you watch them.

ALovelyBitOfSquirrel · 18/04/2020 18:02

Butterflies
The Good Life
To The Manor Born
Only Fools and Horses
Friday Night Dinner
Goodnight Sweetheart
Outnumbered

Probably more I can't think of

ArnoldJRimmer · 18/04/2020 18:03

Red Dwarf
Still Game

YappityYapYap · 18/04/2020 18:05

I would say only fools and horses or the inbetweeners

SueEllenMishke · 18/04/2020 18:06

Only fools and horses
Phoenix nights
Gavin and Stacey

TheoneandObi · 18/04/2020 18:06

omg. Yes. Blackadder. Flash! Made me roll with laughter
And Father Ted, though not strictly British.

StandardPoodle · 18/04/2020 18:07

Yes, Minister

SueEllenMishke · 18/04/2020 18:07

Oh and Father Ted

Upwiththisiwillnotput · 18/04/2020 18:07

Dinner ladies without a doubt. Victoria Wood’s writing is sublime.

Rockbird · 18/04/2020 18:09

Only Fools
Blackadder
Dinnerladies
Father Ted
Bottom
Drop the Dead Donkey
Birds of a Feather
Goodnight Sweetheart
Fawlty Towers
The Good Life
Steptoe and Son
One Foot in the Grave

Just off the top of my head...

YappityYapYap · 18/04/2020 18:09

I had forgotten about keeping up appearances and one foot and the grave as there's not many reruns. So my list (in order) would be

Keeping up appearances
Only fools and horses
One foot in the grave
The inbetweeners

motorcyclenumptiness · 18/04/2020 18:11

The IT Crowd

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/04/2020 18:22

Dinnerladies. If I could only watch one comedy for the rest of my life, this would be it.

RuffleCrow · 18/04/2020 18:26

@tanqueray10 so true. Did you spot Mackenzie Crook's cameo?

GreyGardens88 · 18/04/2020 18:30

If I had to choose just one sitcom I could watch for the rest of my life then Dinnerladies, glad to see it mentioned by others as well Grin

TwistyHair · 18/04/2020 18:31

The Detectorists

happinessischocolate · 18/04/2020 18:31

Faulty towers
Only fools and horses
Gavin and Stacey

According to QI Keeping up appearance is the most successful sitcom ever, sold to the most countries worldwide

Bubbletrouble43 · 18/04/2020 18:34

Spaced
Bread ( well I loved it as a kid / teenager)
And of course only fools and horses

Oaktree1952 · 18/04/2020 18:34
