So we have established that Mrs Browns Boys is definitely the worst UK sitcom of all time, but now it’s time to flip it around and see what people think of as the best UK sitcom of all time.

Same rules as before (and yes, for the purpose of this thread Ireland does count). Looking forward to seeing what people’s suggestions are

and yes I will do results again at the end!!

OP posts:

The Fall and Rise Of Reginald Perrin
Dad's Army
Only Fools and Horses
Allo Allo
Are You Being Served

Frasier is my absolute number one but it’s American so doesn’t count.

Same here

Yes Minister
Thick of it
Peep Show

But mainly Cabin Pressure

Fiderer · 19/04/2020 11:42

Oh, I forgot! Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister

Becca19962014 · 19/04/2020 15:21

For me it's

The Good Life

Jam and Jerusalem (which I bought on DVD when this was done a few years ago)

Rockbird · 19/04/2020 20:52

Any winners yet?

Ikeameatballs · 19/04/2020 21:00

Only Fools and Horses

wildthingsinthenight · 21/04/2020 00:40

Becca I forgot about Jam and Jerusalem.
I loved that!

Keeping up Appearances
Fawlty Towers
The Office

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/04/2020 13:55

No contest for me - equal ratings between Fawlty Towers and Yes Minsister/Prime Minister

Puzzledandpissedoff · 21/04/2020 13:56

Minister of course ...

JaneJeffer · 23/04/2020 00:02

Can I add The Inbetweeners before the totals are in?

ButterfliesandMoths · 23/04/2020 00:17

Vicar of dibley
Miranda

Poetryinaction · 23/04/2020 05:42

Men Behaving Badly

Foghead · 23/04/2020 06:09

Can I add The IT Crowd?
I started watching it because of this thread. It’s fab and very funny.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 23/04/2020 06:33

Haven't RTFT but has anyone mentioned Bread. My all time favourite.

After that Only Fools & Horses and Keeping up Appearances

Mominatrix · 23/04/2020 06:37

I've always enjoyed Coupling. Skimming the responses so far, I seem to be the only one!

Eminybob · 23/04/2020 06:46

The one I can back to time and time again is The IT Crowd.

I loved Blackadder and Red Dwarf (the earlier ones) at the time but wouldn’t rewatch them like I do with IT Crowd.

peachypetite · 23/04/2020 06:48

Peep show

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 23/04/2020 07:17

Blackadder
The Inbetweeners
Only Fools and Horses
One Foot in the Grave
Fawlty Towers
Father Ted

darceybusselllovesbrussells · 23/04/2020 16:30

I'm not sure that it's my favourite ever sitcom , but Dreams by the Cranberries came on the radio earlier and it made me think of that final wonderful scene in the Derry Girls and and I got quite teary!
Peep show
The Thick of It
Friday Night Dinner.
I adored Extras too.

darceybusselllovesbrussells · 23/04/2020 16:31

Oh and Father Ted, and the second and then the final series of Blackadder. The end of Blackadder Goes Forth was stunning.

Santaclauswhosthat · 23/04/2020 16:39

Agree about the end of Blackadder. It was a work of art!

And I can watch and rewatch:
Father Ted
The thick of it
I'm Alan Partridge
The office

Recent ones I enjoyed a lot but unsure of longevity due to, erm, recentness:
Derry Girls
Detectorists
After life
Back to life

But like others my ultimate favourite of all time anywhere is Frasier. It has a lovely heart to it as well as being very funny.
