Friday night and this is the first MN thread I have really enjoyed this week.

I am also outside a bottle of red

boatyardblues · 18/04/2020 00:06

AMaretto and apple juice is exactly like a bakewell tart, but I can only manage a very small one as they are quite sickly.

After experimentation last Christmas, SIL and I worked out a decent Cherry Bakewell cocktail: amaretto, vanilla spiced rum (eg Sailor Jerry type), cherry juice (DH bought it in Sainsburys by mistake - the one from the chiller section, not long life) and prosecco. I can’t really remember the proportions, but it was really good.

Not2bObvious · 18/04/2020 00:07

Yup me too on some rather nice Merlot, preceded by some rather nice Chardonnay (I think saying rather makes me sound refined rather than rat’arsed)

Dontdragyourfeet · 18/04/2020 00:19

@Not2bObvious, I daren't tell my mum about that Tia Maria recipe... I think it may put her local supermarket out of business Grin

The best cocktails are the ones you cant remember how to make!

This has made me smile before bed.
I've been in lockdown with my two kids (both with ASD)
I love them dearly but it's me, them and a field full of sodding sheep.
Tomorrow, fuckwit exH has them for the weekend (kids, not sheep)
He's a prat to me, but will look after them. I am out on parole.
I have never had gin. Or espresso martini. these ALL sound delicious.
I can walk to a Co-op, which has tons of fancy gins etc but also I can make cold coffee etc. I have a stash of fancy crisps and nuts.
I dont really drink (a glass of wine, once or twice a month?)

What do i start with, o wise and experienced ones?

SouthsideOwl · 18/04/2020 00:42

@PyongyangKipperbang I will! Haha. Trust me the only thing that could make this CV shite worse is drinking so.. have an extra measure on me! Grin

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/04/2020 00:50

@OldLace Go careful lovey, they taste nice but are very moreish! I would start with a nice bottle of your favourite wine, dont go for a run down Lush Avenue! :o

I ain't had an alcoholic drink since 2015 but been tempted this week I even brought a little bottle of whiskey but someone drank the lemonade to go with it.

BigFloppyBunny · 18/04/2020 02:45

You guys are hilarious
I come to this thread in agony.
I spent friday evening in front of gogglebox with a bottle of rose wine I found in the cupboard from xmas (I'm not keen on wine as a rule but needs must)
Add to that a packet of sainsbury's donuts and I'm now sat up in bed with awful indigestion and no rennies or owt

I feel mad that I left the party when I did..but was up at 5.30am..
Not rubbing it in or anything but I've just walked the dog on the (nearly empty beach) and can't wait for the (groaning) posts to start..about 11am?

boatyardblues · 18/04/2020 09:09

Sainsburys - chiller cabinet. This fella.

I have found the solution to lockdown!!!
boatyardblues · 18/04/2020 09:12

It was serendipitous for our cocktail making, but DH was sent out on an errand to get cranberry juice for a guest with a UTI and came back with the cherry juice. 🤦‍♀️

Deathraystare · 18/04/2020 09:25

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff You deserve so much more than wine and chocolate. Take a gold medal!

Deathraystare · 18/04/2020 09:29

PyongyangKipperbang (Whines) I wanna join you! Oh I can't- I don't think they will let me drink Espresso martinis and run around the Psychiatric wards with pants on my head. Back to work for me!

ScrimpshawTheSecond · 18/04/2020 09:54

Ain't no hangover like a ricin hangover.

Hope you all have a good long lie-in and feel tip-top when you rise. Grin

PyongyangKipperbang · 18/04/2020 14:03
