Things that you're supposed to like, but don't.

What things/foods/activities etc that are supposedly good for you, healthy or "improving" do you dislike?

I really hate being read to, and I hate reading to people. I never particularly enjoyed being read to as a child, though I appreciate that my Mother did so but I think it was a relief to both of us when I was able to read a book by myself. I also don't enjoy reading to people though I used to have to do so when I worked in childcare and as a volunteer role that involved reading aloud. I've no children yet but if I do I can't say that reading to them will be one of my favourite activities.

Walking. I hate walking for the sake of it. I can happily clock up a lot of miles walking through cities and towns when I'm shopping or seeing the sights. Or if there's a lot of wildlife to admire on a country walk, but I don't enjoy walking as an activity. If I go for a walk for the sake of walking I'm aware of every bloody step and find it boring.

Camping: I love nature and wildlife but I much prefer to admire it and then return to a comfortable bed with solid walls and a sturdy roof over my head. Each to their own but I've tried it once and it was hell. Never again.

Dark chocolate. I don't mind a thin layer of dark chocolate with a mint or caramel filling, but I can't eat dark chocolate on its own. I don't care how good it is for you or how unsophisticated it makes me, it is so unpleasantly bitter that I can't enjoy it. I'll stick with milk chocolate.

There's probably more but that will do for now.

Alcohol
Christmas
Hen dos
Hairdressers, especially the cringey head massage

JigsawsAreInPieces · 17/04/2020 19:09

Prosecco. Vile drink.
Telephone calls, I can't do chatty over the phone. If a friend phones me to confirm arrangements it's ”yes, 6 pm at the cinema. see you then, bye” so my friends send me long newsy texts instead.
Hairdressing salons. Hate having to make small talk while my hair is being cut.
I dislike music that's too loud in bars, if I'm out I want to talk with my friends not to try and lipread!

Showers- they make me feel wet not clean

Reality tv

Surprisedtosaytheleast · 17/04/2020 19:18

Music concerts but especially those in vast venues

Nestofvipers · 17/04/2020 19:20

Camping- You’re totally at the mercy of the weather gods. I can’t see the point of sleeping in a tent without a proper bed where you have to go outside to go to the loo and you have to cook your own food, eat using crap plastic plates and then clear up afterwards-how is that in any way a holiday? Far easier to just stay at home.

Gigs- you can’t ever see over the people in front of you and if the people around you are singing loudly you can’t hear properly either.

Festivals- a bad combination of a gig with camping. Would rather just watch on the TV or not bother at all.

Dark chocolate

Cake

Prosecco-yuk

Hen dos

Valentine’s Day

Stupid supposedly funny videos that friends text/WhatsApp you.

Dubai

Las Vegas

bettybattenburg · 17/04/2020 19:20

UnagiSalmonSkinRoll · 17/04/2020 19:24

Tea and coffee, absolutely despise it

Gammeldragz · 17/04/2020 19:27

Avocado
Mushrooms
Seafood
Sunbathing
Talking on the phone (text me, I'll probably reply eventually)
Shopping for clothes or shoes, I enjoy it for 5 mins then get irrationally angry
Beauty treatments (No SIL, I really really don't want to get a pedicure with you)
Saunas
Weddings
Eating out. I am happy to get a takeaway but hate restaurants and eating out in general.

BananaPlant · 17/04/2020 19:29

Gin. I just don’t like it.

Salted caramel. I just want caramel, why does it always have to be salted?

Avocados. Slimy and taste horrible.

Camping. I don’t want to walk across a wet field to have a wee, thanks.

Clothes shopping with people. I just like to browse by myself where I want without having to wait for anyone else.

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 17/04/2020 19:29

'Cosy' dark evenings - I hate the dark but love the light and sunshine. These mornings are gradually getting more and more lovely and earlier. The birds are singing and there is that lovely spring smell on the air.

Avocado
Hummous
Yoghurt
Tuna
Children
Pasta

ChicChicChicChiclana · 17/04/2020 19:30

Being kissed on the cheek by someone on the first time of meeting them (hopefully this will now bloody well stop!)

Eclairs and profiteroles - I cannot stand choux pastry

Package holidays and places like Center Parcs

emilybrontescorsett · 17/04/2020 19:32

Yep agree with lots of these.
Gin
Other people's children
Baby showers- enjoy yours but I can't get excited about them
Camping- dreadful. I love nature but do not want to sleep in a tent, ever.
Crowds, I don't like my personal space being invaded. I'm enjoying being 2 metres apart from randomers.
Soaps
Reality tv including watching programmes about some z lister and their mundane life.
The cinema. A mix of not being a film buff and not liking people around me.

Hate summer for all the reasons already mentioned.
I hate listening to music in the house/car Makes me feel I should be 'out' enjoying myself.
Hate all this Skype/FaceTime shite. Zoom?!?
Hate weekends. Just pointless. You're just waiting for the week to begin again. I'd rather just get on with it. ( DC would disagreeGrin)

Chardonnay.

Avocadoes.

Walking just for the sake of it, rather than to actually get from A to B.

Having to listen to people (looking at you DH) who want to regale you with a long tale of everything they have done all day. It was boring when you were doing it, so stop boring me too.

I went to the gym once. I don't get it. Never will.

Can't say I would be the slightest bit interested in a ski holiday either.
