I left my sandwich on the side and my cat stole it Grin was a first time for that as I went and did something for a few minutes and thought she was out Grin

One of my cats was trying to steal chicken of dp's plate, but she only managed to knock a piece of lettuce off. I wish I'd taken a picture, she just sat there staring at it, thinking about what she could have had.

Welcome to my world Hmm my feline overlords dustbins prefer human food to cat food.
Danish pastry, custard, passionfruit curd...

MyCatsSlave · 14/04/2020 21:05

Mine swiped a chicken sandwich out of my hand as I was reading a book whilst eating. She has just helped herself to my glass of water that was on the coffee table, I’m just grateful that I saw her and didn’t share it with her unknowingly

UnaCorda · 14/04/2020 22:20

My cat stole a small piece of quiche the other day. Was quite surprised as it had broccoli and tomato, but she ate it. Probably getting her own back as I stole one of her tins of tuna last week to use in a toasted sandwich. Blush

My DH has just sent me this pic of our cat eating my last M&S welsh cake. Notice that although the cat found it in its pack on the coffee table, DH is now holding it for him to make it easier to eat!

We had a cat that used to regularly bring home food, garlic bread, sausages, chicken, fish wrapped in foil. We once caught him trying to drag a massive chunk of black pudding through the cat flap.

weegiemum · 14/04/2020 22:59

Caught our cat this evening fishing under the lid of the pan for part of our Mexican stew. She was very disappointed to get a bit of pepper rather than chicken.

The dustbin that is our dog ate a whole packet of wotsits earlier!

My neighbour roasted a chicken and left it on the counter to “rest”. My two cats went in and stole it, dragged it up her stairs and ate it in her bedroom. Fortunately, she liked cats....

Gin4thewin · 14/04/2020 23:04

My cat managed to get into my OHs zipped up work bag, get a tesco chicken and stuffing sandwhich he never ate out, open the packaging and ate the whole thing 🤭

Shadowdoor21 · 14/04/2020 23:08

My rabbit once stole the top of my bacon sandwich. I was a kid at the time and my mum had brought the sandwich through and I was engrossed in the tv. When I looked, I called her through and asked if she was going a bit do-lally. Then we just heard this chewing sound. Rabbit was under the table in the corner of the room munching on the bread, tomato sauce and all.

Shadowdoor21 · 14/04/2020 23:09

He used to drink my tea too...

NervousInYorkshire · 14/04/2020 23:21

My cat tries to steal my (decaf) tea if I don't put something over it while it's on the side.
Never coffee though.

LochJessMonster · 14/04/2020 23:26

Special mentions that my dog has stolen:
-A whole bakewell tart
-Half a freshly baked birthday cake - just the half he could reach from the floor
-My chocolate advent calendar- but ignoring his doggy one which was right next to it
-A whole bowl of defrosting mince- somehow leaving the bowl in the exact same place on the counter, so I thought I’d gone mad and not got the mince out.

Herpesfreesince03 · 14/04/2020 23:33

Christmas Day I put the roasted turkey on the side to rest. The neighbours two cats came in and dragged it outside. It was unsalvageable. I fucking hate cats! 😡

SpiritEssence · 14/04/2020 23:34

Opened the back door as the kitchen was steamy I should have said

My beloved Portia once took a prawn.. out of my mouth as I was forking it in!
She also swiped a slice of pizza from my plate ... she was a tiny 5 pound cat.
Previous cat once came in one sunday dinner time dragging a large piece of roast beef... we didn't say a word to the neighbours, but their kitchen window was open...

Same cat also swiped our sunday roast chicken . Dad had taken it out of the oven and then popped into another room... cat was dragging the hot chicken across the kitchen floor Grin

Current puppy stole the poppadoms on Sunday, we didn't realise for a while. They did not have a good effect on her bowels ...!

Vicbarbarkley · 15/04/2020 05:49

My old dog once ate a whole tub of Lurpak...? Poo pick uos were interesting that week.
He loved bananas and would steal them from the bowl, peel them and discard the skin, eating them just like we do.
He opened an advent calender one year and carefully extracted the chicolates, leaving the cardboard intact and just about all of the foil🙄
He thoroughly enjoyed the prawns that were defrosting, and then discovered he could open the cupboard where his dog treats were stored........
He ate 5kg bag of chicken drumsticks and thighs that were defrosting.
So many more I have now forgotten.
He was a labrador called Sam and lived to the ripe old age of 15. God knows how😂

StillMedusa 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

My dear late cat was the neighbourhood thief! He stole the filet steaks that my neighbours had resting in their kitchen(when they disappeared for a shag (no bad feelings). He stole someone’s HUGE Gammon joint at Christmas and brought back a string of defrosting sausages! never brought us a mouse or bird, just decent human food lol

ladybird69 · 15/04/2020 06:00

@Vicbarbarkley my dog has eaten bananas whole and it’s true the skins come out hole 🥴

dottycat123 · 15/04/2020 06:10

One Bengal cat 🐱 I had used to open the bread bin and get a slice of bread to eat if she was denied food immediately, the same cat stole a lamb ch op fro m neighbours plate as they enjoyed a meal outside.

Resident collie, when a puppy was an expert food thief (actually, she still is). Her first recorded incident was following a group walk with friends and their dogs. ON returning to the friend's house, friend's father was sorting out their evening meal. We went into the back garden with all the dogs (as we thought). Next thing we heard a shout and out trots Resident collie as another of the dogs races in to grab a slice of buttered bread that's now on the floor. Turns out, friend's father had turned his back for a split second Resident collie had pulled a slice of bread onto the floor and then decided she wasn't going to take the rap for eating it!
By far one of her greatest feats of food theft still leaves me puzzled to this day. One Sunday, we had done a roast chicken dinner. Half of the chicken was left on a plate in the back corner of the kitchen units with kitchen roll covering and tucked under the plate (taking no chances). DM finished her lunch, went back into the kitchen, came back through and asked DF (last to leave the kitchen) if he had thrown the chicken away. "No, because there was half a chicken and I was going to do butties later. Why?"
Well, because, despite the kitchen roll still being perfectly in place and the plate at the back of the unit, there was no chicken on the plate! We never found even a bone.
She's helped herself to an entire saucisson (yes the proper French ones) and eaten it boa constrictor style, paper, string, label and metal clips so that she didn't have to give it back.
More recently I had got a jam donut from Lidl along with a couple of bread rolls to go with the soup I was having for tea. Finished tea and took the empty bowl to the kitchen. Resident Collie didn't follow, too comfy watching TV. I cam back to find her slurping out one of the Lidl bakery bags. First thought was that she had decided to clean out the empty bag that the bread rolls were in. No, she had decided to have my jam donut.
I swear she was a cat burglar in a former life!

My old cat fought my ex for a chicken wing, stole a pepperami and ate it in two bites and used to love taking a chomp of fab ice lollies. I miss that beast!
