Help!! Need a boy name!

babynamesarehard · 13/04/2020 22:48

Hey, having a boy and finding it impossible to pick a name for him. Husband and I are so fussy and every name I see I hate. I feel like girls names are so much easier! Here are the names I might have gone for if it was a girl as maybe that might help?!

  • juniper
  • Tabitha
  • Dorothy
  • ottilie
  • bronte

I am finding it so hard to even narrow down any names as there are literally none I like

  • I hate names that are too popular like Leo or Noah
  • I hate names that are part of a name like Freddie or Ollie instead of a whole name
  • I hate classic names like George or Charles as they seem boring and safe
  • I hate names that are too try hard like Apollo or Bay
  • I don't like modern trendy names like kayden or Kai

I feel like every park I go to has about a million elliots/Finlay's/Reubens etc so don't want anything like that.

We'll never find a name!! Only one I've even remotely considered for more than a second was max as I think it sounds strong and I like the X sound but immediately ruled out by DH as he thinks it's a dogs name.

Please help xx

Lucas.. Otis.
Do you have any family names I could look for a new variation of that’s not trying to hard? We had loads of potential boy names but it’s hard to see how they fit in your criteria.

There arent any family names I'd want to use; both fathers have very traditional names that I'm not keen on (lovely names but not for me!)

Boys in the family are Ben, jack and Alfie so not my taste at all!

Flibberty I like Rory a lot, thank you. I prefer it for a girl and short for aurora but it is lovely!

How do you pronounce lolo?

Not keen on Milton/fergus/ - there's something not right about them? They don't sound strong or masculine to me!

Iolo is pronounced Yollo.

Milton was a famous poet, wrote Paradise Lost. Oh well.

Fergus is a Scottish boy's name. Irish too.

I do think you're yanking our chains a bit, Rory is an Irish boy's name.

babynamesarehard · 13/04/2020 23:11

I know I'm difficult. It's more how it sounds as I say it - Rory sounds strong to me, it's cool and I like Ro as a nickname etc whereas Milton and Fergus aren't right somehow for me. I don't want to insult the names as I'm sure some people love them
