If you could have the free run of any building in the world right now, where would you go?

All alone, no school parties, no guided tours, no overly officious guides, you can nosy behind the scenes and in the private areas.
For me, it would be one of the major art galleries of the world, the Louvre or the MMOMA, maybe a museum like the smithsonian.

Natural history museum, my favourite place on Earth

Or the ruins of Pompeii if that counts as a building? I could wander round there for days

Machu picchu.

If you can go in previously private parts- the Pyramids of Giza

The Cairo museum, or any of those places already mentioned above.

I would love to wander the empty streets of New York. In terms of buildings, I'd pick the Met too, or the Guggenheim. Or maybe New York Public Library.

After seeing it today St Peters Basilica in Rome. Bet there’s loads of hidden treasures in it

Architectural masterpiece before you even start on the art inside.

My favourite house back home. It's empty right now and I'd love to be there with my immediate family.

Buckingham palace

The Alhambra - I'd love to have the time to appreciate the endless details of the walls while enjoying a refreshing mint lemonade and hearing only the sound of flowing water.

British Museum - rammed everyone time you go there, even on members’ evenings.

Bodleian Library.

I’d love touch, smell and read the books. All the books.

Bristol Library. It's a long time since I lived there and I always felt at home in the library. And there's lots of interesting non-public areas too

Versailles. We went last summer and it was packed. Shuffling around in a huge crowd was not fun.

St Peters Basillica, Rome. We went in October but the queues were horrendous so missed out on going inside.
Today particularly would be special.

Natural History Museum in London. Would absolutely love to go behind the scenes there as well as the general galleries without anyone else there. Would probably be creepy though!

I would go and live in Holmewood, the modernist NT house in Surrey, and sit for hours in the massive window watching the treetops blossom into their full bloom and foliage.
