If you could have the free run of any building in the world right now, where would you go?

All alone, no school parties, no guided tours, no overly officious guides, you can nosy behind the scenes and in the private areas.
For me, it would be one of the major art galleries of the world, the Louvre or the MMOMA, maybe a museum like the smithsonian.

Victoria and albert museum in London is the first thing that springs to mind.

Another one for the Natural History Museum in London.

I have always fantasised about hiding somewhere and coming out when the place was deserted.

I suspect whoever wrote "Night at the Museum" felt similar but had to jazz it up a bit for the movie pitch.

Collaseum! (Sp). Oh, and the royal stable mews, or whatever it's called.

Not as cultural, but the spa at Center parcs.

If I win the euro millions I would recreate it to live in

Versailles definitely.

I'd also love to go back to my university library. The time I spent there doing research for my final year dissertation is such a fond memory. Id love to go back there, especially without the distraction of other people.

The forum in Rome and the British museum - every time I’ve been they’ve both been horrendously busy.
Oh, and the cinqeterra (sp?!) in Italy - we went to the first town; parked at the top off the hill, walked 30 minutes down with the dc and nearly cried at how busy it was. Stunningly beautiful but too busy for us. Dh went back up to get the car and drive down to meet us, dc and I got ice creams. We left. Would absolutely love to go back now.

Buckingham Palace because I’d never get a chance otherwise.

St Mark's Basilica and Venice in general. The Uffizi. Any major city just to walk the streets.

I’d give the aquarium a miss, I think it might be a wee bit creepy. I’d quite like the run of Kew Gardens and the palace of Versailles.(so I could take my shoes off and skid down the hall of mirrors in my stockinged feet)

Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle to have a nosey around the private areas where the Queen lives

The bar in the Waldorf Astoria, with a highly professional barman behind the bar serving 2m away

On a more shallow note - selfridges. Being in the beauty hall and testing stuff is like my meditation, I find it so fun and calming so the idea of being there alone - bliss
