I fancy a leisurely late lunch somewhere beautiful by the riverside. Who's coming and what are you having to eat?

As it's Easter Sunday, I thought I'd have a lovely walk along the river in the sunshine, and stop off somewhere relaxed and beautiful to have a delicious lunch. As it happens I've just had a peep at the menu and it's extremely extensive, and caters for all tastes! So I am going to have a very chilled glass of Pinot Grigio, followed by mussels in white wine to start, with crusty bread for dipping. Followed by mustard pork shank. Are you coming? I have a huge table overlooking the river.... you can see groups of people walking past, friends having picnics, boaters and yachts. But, my big corner table is empty so I need lots of friends to all come and squish in. Will you come and have lunch and what are you ordering :)

I'm having at least half a bottle of chilled white wine. I'll have a fancy cheese and mushroom starter thingy, steak and fat chips with a side salad to start and I think a lemon sorbet for pudding. Then coffee.
I'm off to the bar, need anything?

MakeLemonade · 12/04/2020 17:59

Oooh I think I will have a negroni and then move on to white wine.

To start I’ll have a bruschetta - really garlicky with the good tomatoes that taste amazing. Then a paella and some tapas bits on the side. Oooh and fresh bread with really good butter.

Chocolate orange pudding to finish with some homemade ice cream. And an espresso martini.

AlCalavicci · 12/04/2020 18:03

@Iggle, you beat me to it , that is def the kind of thing I would go for.

I will have a pint of Thatchers please.
Can I have my steak cooked medium , a jacket spud and a side of coleslaw and onion rings , ooh and some peppercorn sauce .

quertyuiop100 · 12/04/2020 18:03

Chilled white wine in the sunshine for me too. I'll have prawns in lots of garlic butter and crusty bread to start, followed by hake with butternut squash and pesto on a bed of creamed leeks, and then chocolate cheesecake for pudding.

HeyAssbutt · 12/04/2020 18:04

Pink gin and lemonade with ice and strawberries please.

Garlic and chilli king prawns with crusty bread for starter. Big fat steak medium rare with new potatoes and rocket with vinaigrette dressing. And honeycomb cheesecake for pud.

I'll get the next round

ThanosSavedMe · 12/04/2020 18:05

That sounds lovely. We went to the beach instead, had a lovely walk and then a delicious roast dinner with a large glass of white wine. Same time next week?!

iklboo · 12/04/2020 18:05

I'll have the magic everlasting fizz, gins & tonics.

I'm ordering fresh crusty bread, salty butter a selection of cheeses and a charcuterie board. Pate, posh crisps, pickles & chutneys.

Strawberry and cream choux bun if I have any room left for pudding.

ComeTheFuck0nBridg3t · 12/04/2020 18:06

Shuffle along a little bit please... 😊

I’ll have a nice cold lemonade and lime to drink please.

Hmmm, the same starter as MakeLemonade (that sounds lush!), a hunters chicken with chips and salad and I’ll finish with an Eton Mess -heavy on the berries, light on the cream!!

Delish!

Thanks for the invite @JovialNickname and I think that group of walkers is waving at you... do you know one of them?

bluechameleon · 12/04/2020 18:07

I'll join you with the mussels to start, and I'll have duck breast with dauphinoise potatoes and red cabbage for my main. Chocolate profiteroles for pudding. I think I'll drink Pimms since it is nice weather.

TokyoSushi · 12/04/2020 18:07

Ooh lovely, freezing cold white and the prawns to start please. Then a lovely big caesar salad with fresh bread and Eton mess for dessert.

What a lovely thread OP!

Lifeaback · 12/04/2020 18:07

@MakeLemonade I’ll join you on the bruschetta it looks delicious. G&T for me please, then I’ll have a medium rare steak drowning in garlic butter with fat chips. And an Eton mess for pudding as the weather is so nice

Grumpbum123 · 12/04/2020 18:09

Chilled white wine
Starter something with scallops
Main fillet steak, chunky chips and a lovely tomato salad
Desert- coffee ice cream

HeresToTheCrazyOnes · 12/04/2020 18:09

I'll start with a prosecco please, with some olives and salted almonds.

I'd like mushrooms cooked in salted, garlicky butter with some lovely rustic bread for dipping in the butter to start.

I'm hoping for a wood table with some tulips in a jam jar. Maybe a candle ready for when the light starts to dim.

For the main course, I would love a spanakopita with a simply dressed salad. Would anyone like to share a bottle of Malbec?

Littlepond · 12/04/2020 18:10

Ooh I’ll come! I’ll have a glass of white wine - ah, I might as well get a bottle. I’d like smoked salmon salad for starter and then a rare steak with thick cut fries and blue cheese sauce. Cheesecake for dessert please, and a Tia Maria on the rocks to finish up. Is anyone free to carry me home?

Roominmyhouse · 12/04/2020 18:12

@iklboo I’ll have what you are having but with a sharp lemon tart as pudding instead. Delicious 😋

FinallyHere · 12/04/2020 18:12

Rose in the sun, yes please.

Then a glass of ouzo. Normally after that I would be head down in the soup but not today hurrah.

Garlicky bruschetta, please. Maybe another glass. Hic. I do like good company and sunshine. Thank you

theluckiest · 12/04/2020 18:12

Hiya!!
Sorry I'm late...I've bought a round of elderflower G&Ts in massive balloon glasses.

I'll skip the starter (unless there's fresh scallops with pea purée & black pud) and I've bought a warm bread basket with whole garlic cloves and salty butter.

Probably just go for the roast lamb & trimmings as it's Easter Sunday.

Might pass on pud but we could get a raspberry cheesecake with 2 spoons?

Anyone going anywhere nice this year? Grin

CatkinToadflax · 12/04/2020 18:14

Room for me too? Squash up everyone! Hmmm.....a really cold white wine for me too please. Garlicky buttery prawns to start, then a huge chicken roast with every trimming imaginable, followed by chocolate orange lava cake with vanilla ice cream. My lovely lovely mum is coming too - can we order some still bottled water for her as she’s teetotal. She’ll have fish and chips with tenderstem broccoli and then lemon tart.

dementedma · 12/04/2020 18:15

I'll join you with a sharp G and T while I ponder the menu. Isle of Harris Gin please. I think the pate on crispy sourdough for starters, and then I shall join the pp above with duck and potatoes dauphinoises. I shall finish with affrogato and the whole thing will be washed down with chilled NZ Sauvignon blanc

helpfulperson · 12/04/2020 18:18

Hmm, I think I'll have a main portion of mussels please with a well chilled pinot grigot or two. Followed by a good cheese board with a glass of port.

Obviously the restuarant patio will have an invisible insect screen around it and be heated to a nice temperature.

The couple on the table over there look to be having a fun argument. I wish they would speak up, i can hardly hear what they are arguing about.

Dontforgetyourbrolly · 12/04/2020 18:18

Can I just drink ? I stopped for a big mac on the way as I haven't had one for ages and for some reason all mcd's have been closed recently- who knew?
I'll go for a really nice montepulciano please, happy to share a bottle

BarkandCheese · 12/04/2020 18:19

I’ll have a glass of champagne to sip while I peruse the menu. For my starter I’ll have a little charcuterie board with some crunchy pickled veg and some kind of fresh bread, for mains I’d like a salad nicoise made with very rare fresh tuna. For dessert I want a full on ice cream sundae, gooey chocolate brownie on the bottom, several scoops of vanilla and caramel ice cream, hot chocolate fudge sauce poured over that, whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry on top.

bluebellation · 12/04/2020 18:19

Ooh, lovely to see you all.
I'll have a glass of fizz with some olives while I peruse the menu- ah, yes, garlic prawns for me too please. Then the sea bass (hope the skin's nice and crispy) with braised fennel. And a large glass of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
Excellent place for lunch OP, do you come here often?

MuddyPuddlesAndPrettyBubbles · 12/04/2020 18:20

Sounds amazing. I think I will start with calamari, not chewy, served with a really pungent aioli. Glass of champagne with that. Then ribeye steak, cooked rare, bearnaise sauce, wilted spinach, heritage carrots and some triple cooked fat chips and a big glass of Malbec. For dessert I'll have a tiny slice of chocolate brownie, raspberry sorbet, raspberries and another glass of champagne. Then I'll need to roll around on the floor for a bit to relieve my over full stomach!

LochJessMonster · 12/04/2020 18:21

I’ll have a prawn cocktail starter with thick bread, crunchy lettuce and a lemon to squeeze over

Then a southern fried chicken burger, thick cut chips, coleslaw on the side. Plenty of ketchup.

For pudding a nice light lemon drizzle cake (no custard please)

A nice cool Fanta with ice as a drink.
