I fancy a leisurely late lunch somewhere beautiful by the riverside. Who's coming and what are you having to eat?

As it's Easter Sunday, I thought I'd have a lovely walk along the river in the sunshine, and stop off somewhere relaxed and beautiful to have a delicious lunch. As it happens I've just had a peep at the menu and it's extremely extensive, and caters for all tastes! So I am going to have a very chilled glass of Pinot Grigio, followed by mussels in white wine to start, with crusty bread for dipping. Followed by mustard pork shank. Are you coming? I have a huge table overlooking the river.... you can see groups of people walking past, friends having picnics, boaters and yachts. But, my big corner table is empty so I need lots of friends to all come and squish in. Will you come and have lunch and what are you ordering :)

Oh, I'll join @MakeLemonade in a negroni!
I'm going to have melon and Parma ham with asparagus. Then I'll have the roast lamb and tons of mint sauce, cauliflower cheese that hasn't been made with GF flour or dairy-free "milk" Hmm, roast potatoes, broccoli, carrots and gravy.
Followed by strawberry ice cream, as for some odd reason I haven't found any strawberry ice cream in the supermarket for the last three months, even before Corona virus Confused
I may have a largish glass of Barolo along with that.

And I'd like to eat it with my best friends who we're missing terribly.

HeyAssbutt · 12/04/2020 18:25

Think I heard the couple arguing too. Something about him expecting her to do all the housework and raise the kids and work.

Glad to see we've got some steak connoisseurs who know how to have it cooked properly.

I need another pink gin and lemonade.

Buzzfrightyears · 12/04/2020 18:26

Yes please! I want a cheese board with a really good blue Stilton and some yummy crackers. I’ll have rainbow trout with new potatoes for my main, and chocolate fondant for dessert!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/04/2020 18:26

Lovely thread.

I'm sitting surrounded by big jugs of daffodils and listening to the water lapping gently. Everybody is quiet but not too quiet and I can feel the sun on my back.

I'll start with an Aperol Spritz, please.

I'll have baked Camembert with crusty bread and red onion chutney to begin.

Then I'd like a big Greek salad with no tomatoes, some skin on chips and tsatziki, plus some baba ganoush and various picky, pickley bits.

Proper baked cheesecake for pud, with a load of fresh raspberries and some pouring cream.

And then a coffee and a nap.

Waves @iklboo I havent see you for a while .

Aww look there are baby ducks on the river

Hoohaahoo · 12/04/2020 18:27

I’m definitely coming. Are children banned?

I’ll go for the seafood platter I think. I just fancy some fresh crab with crusty bread 😋

PoppliosBubble · 12/04/2020 18:29

Can we go to the Fisherman’s Cot in Bickleigh please? I’d like a gin and tonic and an Eton Mess please.

I can’t bloody wait to be able to go out again.

golddustwomen · 12/04/2020 18:30

Ice cold pint of estrella please.
Prawn cocktail with crusty bread to start.
Turkey roast with Yorkshire puddings, crispy roast potatoes and nice thick gravy for my main.
Dessert would have to be a piping hot chocolate brownie with ice cream and strawberries.

Spied · 12/04/2020 18:31

Hi, I'm sticking to a chilled traditional lemonade and I'll choose a goats cheese and roasted red pepper tart as a main, lots of buttery new potato's and green salad (no dressing).
I'd love the Turkish delight ice-cream sundae for dessert.

WednesdaySpinner · 12/04/2020 18:32

I'm going for chilled white wine accompanied by a chicken, mushroom and asparagus risotto with a side of freshly baked, warm bread followed by a chocolate and peanut butter millionaire shortbread brownie. I've been desperate to wear something other than loungewear and so I am the overdressed woman in the corner wearing full make up, heels and a nice dress Grin

iklboo · 12/04/2020 18:35

Hiya @AlCalavicci - how have you been?

Bobbybobbins · 12/04/2020 18:35

Lovely to see everyone! I'll join some if you with a glass of fizz - actually make it a bottle. The seafood platter sounds amazing, with crab, big garlicky prawns and fish please. Then I'll have something creamy and delicious for dessert - maybe a pannacotta and a coffee.

AlCalavicci · 12/04/2020 18:38

And a couple of bottles of full bodied wine of course

AlCalavicci · 12/04/2020 18:41

RJnomore1 · 12/04/2020 18:44

I’ll have a frozen slush cocktail to start please

Bottle of chilled Viognier and a tuna Niçoise salad for a starter, followed by mussels and crusty bread with good butter.

Just a scoop of very good quality vanilla ice cream for dessert and ok finish with an espresso and then an amaretto on the rocks.

fourquenelles · 12/04/2020 18:47

Waves at you all as the tea barge I am on floats gently by. I have a huge pot of tea, proper ham on the bone and English mustard soft white bread sandwiches and a huge chunk of Victoria sponge. Early I stopped by at the restaurant for a pint of prawns (served in a pint mug) with crusty bread and a chilled crisp glass of perry.

DuchessofManchester · 12/04/2020 18:47

Sorry I'm late girls! Large pinot grigiot for me with brushetta to start, medium fillet steak with chips and salad and a slice of your finest chocolate cake for dessert.
So where's everyone off on holiday this year?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 12/04/2020 18:47

Ooh yes - I like the idea of a cheeseboard supper later on. Maybe with a chocolate brownie and ice cream to follow?

Pepperwand · 12/04/2020 18:48

@HeresToTheCrazyOnes I'll happily share a bottle of malbec. I'll have mushrooms cooked in a creamy stilton sauce on a toasted English muffin to start and then I don't care about the main as long as it comes with thick cut, fried, salty chips.

ineedaholidaynow · 12/04/2020 18:48

Ooh thanks for the invite.

Glass (bottle) of Pinot Grigio blush

Scallops for starter

Medium rare steak with garlic butter, fries, mushrooms and some asparagus.

Salted caramel or honeycomb cheesecake.

Then will join in with the cheese board later.

MotorwayDiva · 12/04/2020 18:49

I'll have the mussels for main, large class of dry white wine. Need to check out the dessert menu after

AlCalavicci · 12/04/2020 18:51

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie , Oh yes I love a good brownie .

Sosounhappy · 12/04/2020 18:52
