Just that really. Feel torn between cancelling and taking a ‘wait and see’ approach.

Have recently moved ours from.end of May to end of August.. will wait and see what Happens!

MinesaPinot · 11/04/2020 17:44

Not due to go until end of August so keeping for now. Was due to cruise next week which has been pushed back until next year as has a short July cruise which has been pushed back to the same time next year.

Sunnydaysrock · 11/04/2020 18:41

@PoptartPoptart We have paid deposits for flights with BA through our agents. They have confirmed that we can move to a later date. We would have willingly forfeited the deposit if not, we wouldn't go to the US now. Have you spoken to Virgin, or your insurance?

Enough4me · 11/04/2020 18:43

UK trip in July, with Airbnb so will wait to see what happens.

AuditAngel · 11/04/2020 18:59

Was supposed to be in Cornwall for May half term for a baptism. That has been cancelled, but I have messaged to B&B asking if we can wait and see and decide nearer the time. They have agreed to this, with agreed short notice cancellation on either side. I have provisionally booked B&B for October, but dependent on dates of baptism.

Was meant to be in Berlin/Poland in late a June /early July for sporting event. This has been moved to September. Hotel in Poland and flights changed. Can’t do Berlin then, but that hotel wants 90% to cancel, so hoping it gets cancelled on me. Not convinced the event will happen in September, in which case, it’s Brazil next year!

Have flights to Spain in August, will wait and see as no accommodation. Will move to next year if necessary. We have insurance, annual policy, just hoping they will renew!

Cooldarkroom please can you tell me where you heard Spain have said no visitors this year? We have family property to stay in.

PoptartPoptart · 11/04/2020 18:59

@Sunnydaysrock thanks for your reply.
No we haven’t spoken to Virgin yet, I am guessing it’s too soon but I might try to see if I can find an email address for them. If no luck then I’ll try the insurance.
I’m guessing the problem will be if the flights are operating and the US I open, they will say it’s our decision not to go and refuse to move the dates.
I really don’t want to lose £5k but there’s no way I am taking us abroad this year. I just wouldn’t be able to relax or enjoy it.

drspouse · 11/04/2020 19:00

Keeping, we have a holiday cottage booked on the South coast for August. If we are OK to drive there we can just do walks to the beach if there's nothing else to do.

Boredinthehouse · 11/04/2020 19:00

Cancelling our August holiday to the Lakes.

LynetteScavo · 11/04/2020 19:06

UK holiday end of July ....were really hoping we can go. The thought of surfing in the summer is getting my 14yo through being stuck at home at the moment.

MummyGoingItAlone · 11/04/2020 19:10

Mine was cancelled yesterday (for mid May) I’m awaiting the call to discuss options. Probably going to get a refund. The money is more useful to me than the holiday is. I already feel super rested lol

camelsandcaramel · 11/04/2020 19:11

Live overseas and normally head back to the UK July / August. Haven't booked anything this year and as much as grandparents would love to the grandkids, honestly don't think it's an option. We normally stay with both sets of parents but both granddads are in the very high risk category. We're getting used to the idea of not escaping the extreme heat but on the bright side, the major of our friends will still be here.

Here's hoping they all stay safe and well and we can visit at xmas.

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 11/04/2020 19:11

Keeping the flights but fully expect them to be cancelled. Fortunately only the flights have been booked. Usually I'd be booking up accomodation and car hire (road trip), but not doing any of that now.

Cancelled our August holiday. Even if flights go out I won’t feel comfortable going. I’ve read there could be a second wave too and don’t fancy being stuck in a small hotel room.

TheCatBar · 11/04/2020 19:14

Cancelled our trip to France in june.

policeandthieves · 11/04/2020 19:19

Portugal end of August, accommodation paid for and non refundable so will wait for travel advice so insurance will pay out

StrumpersPlunkett · 11/04/2020 19:25

Supposed to go to Hong Kong 🇭🇰 beginning of July.
Am hoping we won’t be allowed to go. I don’t feel I want my family there then Vietnam without being certain things are all clear.

Echobelly · 11/04/2020 19:28

Only paid for flights to NY - annoyingly for once we booked well in advance! I reckon the airline will go under in the meantime, so just waiting to claim money back from Barclaycard when they do. I don't think there will be any discretionary air travel permitted this summer and possibly this year.

ReginaGeorgeous · 11/04/2020 19:30

Due to pay the balance in two weeks for a holiday to Menorca at the end of July.

I will pay it, but I don’t think I’ll get there based on what the Spanish ministers are saying. I will wait for TUI to cancel and see what’s what. Will probably try and move the money onto a booking for the Caribbean next year.

amusedbush · 11/04/2020 19:33

We were booked to go to London for my 30th next month, BA cancelled the flights a couple of days ago. We got the cash back and the hotel are going to refund even though we booked a non-refundable room.

I’m gutted. DH’s holidays are allocated by his work so he can’t even save them to take at another time. He has two weeks off in October and we’re really hoping to go somewhere then but I’m not even sure about that.

Pertella · 11/04/2020 19:33

Have a uk break booked in may half term. A couple of people in our group are classed as vulnerable so cant go anyway as it would be too risky for them. We wouldnt get refunded if the resort is open and we chose not to go so I'm hoping its cancelled.

gerbilgirl · 11/04/2020 19:35

We have a week in Wales booked for August but are playing the waiting game. We have explained to the kids that it might not happen but will wait and see how things progress.

I would be more concerned I think about an overseas holiday if we had one booked!

SophieJo · 11/04/2020 19:37

Jet2 have cancelled our flights in May and have had an email from them asking us to wait for their alternatives, in date order. Fair enough.
Am still going to pay the cattery though as want them to be
there in the future.

asteri76 · 11/04/2020 19:43

Cancelled road trip around Canada for beginning of August.. gutted!!

Sunnydaysrock · 11/04/2020 19:45

@PoptartPoptart That's exactly how we feel. No amount of money is worth that stress or risk, holidays are for fun and relaxing! Really hope Virgin will move flights for you. And enjoy Florida when you get there... eventually.
