Just that really. Feel torn between cancelling and taking a ‘wait and see’ approach.

Spain for June, I'm waiting for it to be cancelled so I can rebook or get a refund.

Sewingbea · 11/04/2020 16:13

UK in August so waiting to see what happens.

SockQueen · 11/04/2020 16:14

Haven't booked yet. Was meant to be going to Germany in August for my cousin's wedding and we planned to go to a holiday park or something after, but hadn't booked flights/accommodation before the restrictions started. Just got to wait and see I guess.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 11/04/2020 16:14

Keeping for now, though fully expecting it to be cancelled. It's fully paid up so we wouldn't get anything back if we cancelled just now.

rjebgf · 11/04/2020 16:14

We're cancelling for July. Cancelling because we have only paid deposit so far and would rather just lose the deposit than risk paying the whole balance and then trying to claim the whole lot back. It was a low deposit luckily so this is the most sensible thing for us to do.

Zisforstripyoss · 11/04/2020 16:15

We've booked a european destination in July - not one that's in the news! Our holiday and flight haven't officially been cancelled yet, so we're going to see what happens. I'm not sure I'd be happy to go though.

Zisforstripyoss · 11/04/2020 16:15

We paid the full balance just before all this kicked off.

Deadringer · 11/04/2020 16:21

Efteling in july, hoping to get a refund on flights, or even a postponement. I only paid a deposit on accommadation so don't mind about that so much. Best scenario would be a postponement til next year, even though we booked it for a special birthday.

Ladyglitterfairydust · 11/04/2020 16:22

We haven’t officially cancelled yet because we don’t need to pay the balance until mid May. However, I’m pretty sure we will cancel it. We were supposed to be going to Turkey on 21st July and I just can’t see holidays being up and running again by then. If we cancel now we’ll only lose the deposit which wasn’t much and we’ll still have the rest of the money sat in our account. If by some miracle things change we’ll try and book something last minute.

Foxes157 · 11/04/2020 16:22

Waiting for my holiday to Spain to be cancelled at the end of May.

Hopefully we may get the holiday booked for October half term in Spain, probably a different hotel in the same area though as I can't see them opening up for a few weeks in September

BarefootHippieChick · 11/04/2020 16:33

Due to go to Portugal beginning of August, have paid a pretty big deposit already so will just pay the balance when it's due. Holiday company are currently refunding everyone who can't go so presumably we'll be in the same position in a couple of months. There's also a possibility that we may be able to transfer it to next year when 2021 villas become available.

rjebgf · 11/04/2020 16:38

I am a bit stressed about my cancellation. I want to cancel with Virgin as I've only paid the deposit but have no way of contacting them so I can't actually cancel it! Even though I haven't paid any more, I think they could still charge me for more. But they don't accept calls unless you are travelling in the next 72 hours. No idea what to do. Deposit was v cheap, balance is expensive. Just need to get it cancelled!

LadybirdsAreFab · 11/04/2020 16:41

We live in the Middle East, usually go to the UK for 3 weeks with husband and I stay for a couple of more weeks. We have decided not to book anything, safer where we are for when the second wave of infections come around (from people moving about again). We will try and go for Christmas. I have arthritis so don’t want to add to the NHS workload (even though we would pay for treatment). My Mum knows and understands, we haven’t told my in-laws yet.

underneaththeash · 11/04/2020 16:46

@rjebgf - you can text or whats ap them too (we did this) and apart from the appalling grammar of the person texting back it worked fine.

Drop us a text on +44 (0)7481 339184, or 97634 from the US. You can also WhatsApp us on +44 (0)344 8747747.

EBJ · 11/04/2020 16:53

Keeping our holiday until we are told otherwise, we have 2 weeks booked in Cyprus for Sept 😁

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 11/04/2020 16:53

I've got flights booked for late June to Europe but haven't booked any accommodation. I'm going with friends so will wait and see. But secretly I'm hoping we can't go as I'm quite skint and could do with the refund Smile

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 11/04/2020 16:55

I have also got a uk trip at the end of may to an airbnb for a few nights. I fully intend to still go assuming lockdown is over.

Snowpatrolling · 11/04/2020 16:57

The choice was taken away from me and the company cancelled my holiday. :(

User202004 · 11/04/2020 17:03

Ours is for May so it'll be cancelled but waiting for them to contact me, want a refund.

Northumberlandlass · 11/04/2020 17:03

We had a trip planned to Asia Pac region in July. The full amount was due a week or so ago. I asked the Company mid March to transfer the deposit to 2021 holiday & they agreed.

Kez200 · 11/04/2020 17:04

Waiting for Travel Republic to offer a credit on our June holiday to Menorca, with Easyjet flight as a package.

Happy to move it to same time next year.

Twospaniels · 11/04/2020 17:04

We had a UK holiday booked for May which we have cancelled and have had a full refund.

trilbydoll · 11/04/2020 17:07

Camping in France, ferry is paid in full but it was a flexible fare, deposit paid for campsite. Waiting and seeing at the moment, reluctant to book anything in the UK right now as it's all do uncertain. France was booked early January so it's covered by travel insurance.

happystory · 11/04/2020 17:09

Only ferry crossing booked and paid for in full (mid July) Hoping they'll offer refund or credit, we're certain to use them again at some point. Hotels booked but not paid for, will be sad to cancel but...

PoptartPoptart · 11/04/2020 17:09

@Sunnydaysrock you say you will move your flights to Florida to next year. Have you had any contact with the airline about the possibility of doing this?
I ask because we have fully paid for Virgin flights to Florida for early August. I don’t want to go, even if the US is open by then.
I’m worried if Virgin are flying they will say we have to go or we lose our money. I don’t want a refund, just to move the dates
