Are you cancelling or keeping your summer holidays?

Just that really. Feel torn between cancelling and taking a ‘wait and see’ approach.

We’re keeping our mid August holiday to Florida at the moment. We’ve paid in full for the flights but the balance for the hotel is due in June.
We’re expecting it to be cancelled though. As long as we can transfer it to next year I’ll be happy.

cooldarkroom · 11/04/2020 15:03

They say on French news today that macron may announce restrictions with travel until September, only allowing Schengen countries in & out.To be confirmed
Spain has already said no-one will be coming in in the summer

returnofthecat · 11/04/2020 15:07

I've kept everything that isn't refundable, in the hopes it will get cancelled for me nearer the time and I'll get my money back.

iVampire · 11/04/2020 15:08

We didn’t have a holiday booked.

If restrictions ease, then we might go to visit family in more scenic parts of the UK. I think that’ll be the extent of our travels for quite a while

GuyFawkesDay · 11/04/2020 15:08

UK booked end of July. Really hoping it happens....

Oly4 · 11/04/2020 15:09

Holiday abroad in August, we’re waiting for them to cancel

MrsTerryPratchett · 11/04/2020 15:10

Keeping because it's nice to have a fantasy. Actually I know we won't be going.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 11/04/2020 15:13

Keeping for now as it’s just flights as we stay in family accommodation so no cost unless we actually go (Southern Spain).

We fly beginning of August so we’ll just see for now.

2beautifulbabs · 11/04/2020 15:15

We were all booked to go to Disneyland Paris in May we have no moved that to November we are driving out so not flying but we shall wait and see what happens now as hopefully we can still go it's our first family holiday abroad and mine and DH since 2016 so really want to go but at same time don't want to risk DCs

AvalancheKit · 11/04/2020 15:19

Keeping and will be paying the balance in June. If we cannot travel we hope the owner will do the right thing and split the cost 50/50.

cannotmakemymindup · 11/04/2020 15:19

Hoping to keep simple camping holiday in the UK with small family company. I am pregnant and by August etc ill be to pregnant/had baby so honestly really hoping for very late June or early July. But I know it's only hope and probably won't happen.

Shodan · 11/04/2020 15:23

I've already had a week in Spain cancelled so I'm really hoping that our UK holiday in mid July will go ahead still. If it doesn't, well that sucks but tbh I'd rather be safe and comfortable at home than go somewhere strange, if lots of restrictions are still in place.

anotherexclusion · 11/04/2020 15:25

Easter cancelled awaiting insurance claim, and May HT trips have been cancelled by end suppliers so waiting in refunds, few nights camping in July still on.

Talulahoopla · 11/04/2020 15:26

Krakow been cancelled, waiting for my May Athens trip to be cancelled but holding out for Bali at end of September 🤞

SunshineInMySprocket · 11/04/2020 15:26

We’re supposed to be coming to the UK in July but don’t see it happening and we’d need to stay away from my parents for at least the first 14 days. We’ll move our flights to Christmas if the airline cancels the original booking.

TokyoSushi · 11/04/2020 15:29

We haven't booked but were about to, hoping to go 'somewhere' towards the end of August, probably UK but maybe Europe if allowed.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 11/04/2020 15:31

UK holiday cottage booked in September. We'll wait and see what the owner offers and take it from there.

blue25 · 11/04/2020 15:33

Waiting for travel company to cancel. We know we won’t be going.

Kenworthington · 11/04/2020 15:37

Mid August we are booked to go abroad to Ibiza for our first hot holiday ever without kids for our 20th wedding anniversary. We have paid over half and rest due start of May. I think that we will pay the balance on credit card and then if it gets cancelled (which we are expecting ) we can claim money back.

duckme · 11/04/2020 15:39

Keeping ours for now. Florida and New York for the last two weeks in August. If restrictions are still in place we will move to a different date, I can't bear the thought of cancelling altogether, this is my dream holiday and we've saved so hard for over a year for it.

MistyMinge2 · 11/04/2020 15:44

We've got an air bnb cottage booked in Devon for May half term. I'm holding on until the last minute in the slim hope we might be able to go. Even if pubs and attractions are still shut, it'll be nice to have a change of scene. There's plenty of wide open spaces and coastline. Obviously wouldn't go if things are still as they are now.

Boogiewoogietoo · 11/04/2020 15:53

Cancelled hotel and car hire in Italy in August, just hoping flights are cancelled so I can get a refund.

Sunnydaysrock · 11/04/2020 15:59

Cancelled our accommodation for Florida in July this week and will move flights to nx yr. The US is not somewhere I would consider going to now this year at this point, and decisions have to be made unfortunately. Have my fingers crossed we'll make Cyprus in Oct but I know it's not guaranteed.

HironsBirons · 11/04/2020 16:08

Our trip to Center Parcs has been cancelled as it’s closed. It’ll probably be next year before we get away, I think. I’m not risking booking anything for later in the year just yet.

GameSetMatch · 11/04/2020 16:11

U.K. holiday, I’m going with the wait and see approach we have insurance but I’m hoping by August we will be allowed out!
