Our lamb was lovely - too tender to carve properly - and the gravy was the best I have ever made. In fairness, I don’t often make gravy, as I was raised by a gravy hating mum (“why should I spend my time and energy making you nice food if you are going to pour gravy on it so it all tastes the same”) so usually dh has Bisto - but this time I slow roasted the lamb with red wine, onions, rosemary and garlic, then whisked in a lamb stock cube, some flour and a bit of water, once the joint was resting.

Roasted it in the charcoal BBQ with honey , garlic and ras-el-hanout middle eastern spice marinade. Home made flatbreads and humous, crushed baby potatoes roasted in garlic and rosemary and a big salad.
Had it with Cornish champagne, sitting outside in the garden this evening by candlelight.
Bloody delicious!

Ooh, we had lamb shoulder, marinated in garlic, mint, pomegranate molasses, sumac and cumin and slow cooked for four hours until it fell off the bone.

We have it every Easter and it is probably the most delicious thing in my repertoire.
