Am looking forward to hearing about everyone's dinners later

Horsemad · 12/04/2020 12:07

I'd unwrap it and let it defrost at room temp, @supercee.

Biryani recipe looks good, thanks @IHaveBrilloHair. 🙂

hannabarbera · 12/04/2020 12:09

Welsh lamb. No rubbing with this that and the other. Enough taste as it is being fed on brilliant welsh moun

I don't understand why vegans would post on this thread! How is it different to me going onto a thread called "what delicious vegan meal are you eating today" and talking about the juicy steak I plan to be cooking.
We are currently sitting in the garden peeling potatoes, parsnips and carrots to go with our lemon, rosemary and anchovy marinated leg of lamb while listening to James Taylor on the record player.

Totally jealous now. Just got newborn home from hospital on friday after 2 weeks in nicu. Tbh I'll be doing well if get dressed today let alone anything else. Shame cos me and my eldest son 10 love lamb. Spicy lamb and potato stew is his favourite. Ah well one he gets home fron his dads he can keep a wee eye on little bro and ill raid freezer/cupboards.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 12:27

@hockeyboysmum
Congratulations and glad you and little one are home

LDN1 · 12/04/2020 12:27

SpicedCamomile

James Taylor... good taste! As for coming onto the thread; I started it off by simply stating, “no lamb for me” - and suggested a Netflix film, perfect for lock-down viewing. This is different to the vice versa scenario you paint simply because, one is against animal exploitation and the other is for. Quite obvious really.

hobnobsaremyfave

“Twats”... is a subjective judgement and works both ways Wink

Enjoy your Easter Sunday!

SteveHarringtonsHair · 12/04/2020 12:28

Ooh @Habibtihayati your lamb sounds delicious, would you be willing to share the recipe here please?

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 12:29

One thing I couldn't get was lamb sock cubes or lamb stock that I add to the wine for cooking
Beef cubes have had to do

Horsemad · 12/04/2020 12:36

Aah @Hockeyboysmum, I'd rather have a newborn than a leg of lamb anyday! Mine are in their 20s now and I'd turn the clock back in an instant if I could.
Congratulations!

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 12:39

Newborn snuggles in the spring are lovely
Not sure I'd get or want snuggles with my stinky teenage lot Grin

MrsCastiel · 12/04/2020 12:45

@Hockeyboysmum

Its actually the law that, with a newborn around, you must sit in your comfy clothes all day having built a comfy nest of essential around yourself (everything in arms reach, tv remote, fully charged phone, tasty snacks, all the chocolate) and watch all the TV.

You can have your spicy lamb another day, enjoy your newborn cuddles and your chocolate-filled 10 year old 😊

TheStarryNight · 12/04/2020 12:46

@LDN1 do you wish that fewer animals are killed for food or do you wish to revel in self-righteous zealotry?

You might like to reflect that indulging in the latter is unlikely to improve the former. It will in fact have a deleterious effect, as you make veganism, vegetarianism, plant based lifestyles and reduced animal consumption very unattractive.

But don’t let that put off you off relishing your sense of moral superiority and vegangelism.

And if you care more about being right and scoring points off others, making other people feel uncomfortable than in increasing the amount of compassion felt towards animals, you are exploiting animals for your own selfish gain, just in a different way.

You evidently care more about being right and punishing others than you do about being effective and saving animals.

There is of course a chance you are misguided about the best strategy and tactics to further your goals. In which case, show you care more about animals than being right and change your tack.

Make people feel good about choices you see as positive, rather than bad about ones you see as negative.

CumbiaVillera · 12/04/2020 12:57

starry i don't give a shit who I offend. I don't think I'm better than anyone, animals included. I have no more rights over their bodies than anyone one elses. Hence why I don't add to their suffering. If you are happy to contribute to the god awful fucking lives these animals endure, then that's on you. It's not up to any vegan to sugar coat the meat industry.

Fifthtimelucky · 12/04/2020 13:03

Roast leg of lamb, with rosemary and garlic. The lamb has been in the freezer for well over a year, so looking forward to getting rid of it.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 13:04

What are people having with their lamb?
I know it's lamb but compulsory Yorkshire puds
Stuffing
Roast pots, mashed swede , carrots, cauli cheese and broccoli

Clutterbugsmum · 12/04/2020 13:11

And Vegans wonder why people aren't that keen on them Hmm.

We are having slow roasted shoulder today and yes will probably have Yorkshire pudding rather then roast pots.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 13:13

Yorkshire and toast pots here
We are clearly piglets Grin

TheStarryNight

Interesting post; thanks for your contribution! I think you are a little mixed up though... how would one contribute to the discussion whilst skirting around the facts?? The initial premise of my post was to highlight that one does not need to consume an animal, to celebrate Easter Sunday. In fact, some might say that there’s a sick irony to that very act.

I’ve been respectful and used mature debate / no disrespect from my side; however, there are posters who are obviously triggered, to the extent they call other posters “twats”. Perhaps have a rethink and see that all you’ve said works both ways.

I first posted - simply “no lamb for me” and highlighted that the food on one’s plate was once a sentient animal. I didn’t come on the thread and flame anyone. I’ve even wished people a happy Easter Sunday. I wasn’t being sarcastic.

CovidCanFKcuOFF · 12/04/2020 13:22

I'd love the Greek version!!

Classic roast here, stuffed with anchovy, garlic, rosemary... No Welsh lamb sadly only new Zealand which I will be boycotting after lockdown.

Roast tats, Yorkshire puddings, red current jelly gravy...

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 13:23

And I've made a Mary Berry pavlova for pudding
Always the same dinner and pudding here at EasterGrin

CovidCanFKcuOFF · 12/04/2020 13:23

Oh stuffing!I adore stuffing.. And possibly pavlova to finish.

CumbiaVillera · 12/04/2020 13:25

Clutter It's about animals it's not a popularity contest.
