Slow cooked shoulder of lamb. Not sure yes if I am going down the traditional toast route, or something lighter in the garden
I rather like the sound of thd fkat bread treatment someone mentioned earlier.

I'm quite pally with out butcher and we usually chat about what I'm cooking with what I'm buying. I said I need some lamb today and he laughed and said 'so does the entire country apparently'

We've got lamb neck going in the slow cooker with red wine, lots of garlic, oregano and rosemary and tomatoes. Plan is lamb ragu with freshly made pasta.

Thinking we could add pictures of our yummy lamb
Mine is heading for the oven shortly to cook on gas 1 all day
Can't wait for later
Love a lamb dinner

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 10:57

I'll be ravenous by dinnerGrin

MrsCastiel · 12/04/2020 11:02

Couldn't get any lamb when I did my weekly shop, so have a joint of beef instead.

Homemade Yorkshire, crispy roasties, roasted carrots and home made gravy.

Can't wait!

IHaveBrilloHair · 12/04/2020 11:11

Im waiting for this to be over as I live alone and am shielding, but Ill be doing lamb biryiani using my friend's Indian Mums recipe.

Horsemad · 12/04/2020 11:12

@hobnobsaremyfave, worth the wait though! 😉

DH currently ransacking the in-law's garden looking for fresh mint, after assuring me we had some growing in ours... 🙄

Horsemad · 12/04/2020 11:13

Can you post the recipe here please @IHaveBrilloHair? 🙂

supercee · 12/04/2020 11:15

I forgot to take my half leg out the bloody freezer after too much sauv blanc.

Can I defrost it in the microwave? Was planning on slow cooking it. Can I cook it from frozen? I've got garlic, rosemary and red wine to hand.

It's just me myself and I today and I've been looking forward to this all week.

Biryani recipe.

CumbiaVillera · 12/04/2020 11:24

LDN1 you are not the one who is brainwashed.

Gamechangers basically points out that it's healthier to eat vegetables than meat. Hardly flat earthers territory! This thread reads like The Purge vs Hostel. It's animal abuse. As cruel as any wet market in the east.

But hey, if CJD,Pandemics,Cancer,Heart Attacks,High Blood Pressure and Clogged Arteries don't put an off, let em shit a dead animal out their arse.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 11:35

Can't wait horsemad
And there has to be mint

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 11:36

That biryani recipe looks awesome

Horsemad · 12/04/2020 11:40

Definitely has to be mint! 🙂

Not sure re cooking from frozen @supercee...

mygrandchildrenrock · 12/04/2020 11:50

supercee don’t cook it from frozen or defrost it in the microwave. Defrost it normally and have it tomorrow, it’s still Easter tomorrow! Grin

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 12/04/2020 11:53

How big a joint is it? A small joint won't take long to defrost at room temperature
Or cook it tomorrow

TheRealCaroleBaskin · 12/04/2020 11:55

I have a shoulder 1.4kg and not a clue about how long to cook! I've rubbed on some garlic and rosemary and mint marinade and it's just sitting soaking in

PigletJohn · 12/04/2020 11:55

Slow-roast half leg. All there was left, yesterday.

Breast of lamb , BTW, is yummy, but has a lot of fat in it that you need to cook out. Always (?) sold rolled up and stringed into a convenient shape for roasting. Sometimes stuffed. I suppose you could cut it up and do something else with it. Inexpensive. The first Sunday roast I ever cooked when I bought my first house.

Some ideas here

supercee · 12/04/2020 12:02

It's just under a KG so quite small. I took it out at 7am and put it on defrost setting in the microwave too for a bit. It's now in the oven wrapped up. Plan on cooking it for about 5/6 hours. I will report back!
