What do you see that you don’t understand or find odd??

For me it’s the fake bricked up windows on new builds.

What are they all about? I see loads of them

Following to find out the answer to this because I always wanted to know!

Kpo58 · 09/04/2020 12:31

I did once see a black man with black sunglasses dressed completely in black on a black electric unicycle. I couldn't help wondering if he was from the Matrix/MIB/the future.

Sennetti · 09/04/2020 12:34

Those unicycles look fun, I’d love a go on one

I think fake bricked up helps make the house look more balanced/less lopsided with Windows I one patch. On our new build they have maisonettes that dont have them on one side and the whole building looks odd to me. The 4/5 beds do have them and it makes the side look much more balanced. My DP hates it. Oddities on our walk are free roaming chickens and geese that sometimes chase you! And creepy old teddies in windows - some of them look like they're out of a horror film. One person near by has windows that they've always put displays on shutters behind so you can't see in. The displays look very tired, dusty and old. With that and the abandoned house opposite there's something unsettling about it.

Maybe I watch too many horrors...

iklboo · 09/04/2020 12:42

There's a very tall, elegant elderly lady near us who goes for walks at the same time every day down the ginnel (entry / alley) by the side of our house. I like to think she's a spy from the future reporting on what we're all doing.

Sennetti · 09/04/2020 12:45

Creepy houses make you walk past faster that’s for sure

There’s a house where I used to live I passed daily ,several times on the school run

They had photinias in the window in pots.....started small ended up as massive bushes. Photinias are an outside shrub, sometimes known as red robin but they had them inside thriving! So big you couldn’t see a thing of the inside

Tanks, rabbits and guns.

Sounds weirder than it is in reality!

CathyorClaire · 09/04/2020 12:51

We've seen weird stuff in woods.

Berry wreath in a tree in one wood which was quite nice and we thought might be to do with spring celebrations but black material strung between trees and hung as banners with circles of bin bags stuffed with leaves nearby in another. Maybe seats? That was creepy as.

Buscake · 09/04/2020 12:53

@Kpo58 what did the fact he was black have to do with it?

PilatesPeach · 09/04/2020 12:53

young bloke out running and juggling balls at same time as he ran down the pavement very odd - a furloughed circus performer taking his daily exercise perhaps?

WickedlyPetite · 09/04/2020 13:04

I've never seen any fake bricked up windows, I actually don't know what you mean - can you take a picture next time you're out?

I walk my dog once a day, and no matter what time of day or night we take our walk, I see the same man walking with his dog... now it's either a crazy coincidence that we've been out every single day at the exact same time for the past 16 days, OR he's going out walking numerous times a day, OR my husband has hired a private detective to spy on me on my walks.

fredafortycoats · 09/04/2020 13:06

Bananaman cycled past us yesterday in full costume

YetAnotherSpartacus · 09/04/2020 13:08

I miss the libraries that people used to have built onto or into their walls in the boho area I used to live in.

NoCorona · 09/04/2020 13:09

Seen a unicorn walking the streets round here. 🦄

Sennetti · 09/04/2020 13:17

Here... this is just off google but is what I see lots of

DH saw a guy on an electric skateboard/longboard with 3 crates of beer balanced on there with him this morning Grin

Likethebattle · 09/04/2020 13:43

Never seen those bricked up windows despite living in 3 new build estates. No wouldn’t buy it it looks like it’s a mistake.

amazedmummy · 09/04/2020 13:43

Someone near us has fake grass, a phone box, a post box and a bin in their front garden. But not a wheelie bin one of these bins and it's right by the front door so not accessible to passers by, it must be for decoration.

happinessischocolate · 09/04/2020 13:48

There's a house near me that has 5 or 6 mannequins in the front garden all dressed up, the clothes get changed in a regular basis I'll take a photo next time I pass 😂

Scruffyoak · 09/04/2020 13:53

That picture looks like my village

BuzzShitbagBobbly · 09/04/2020 13:57

I think fake bricked up helps make the house look more balanced/less lopsided with Windows

Houses near me are generally all short side facing the road. Two beds only have 2 windows on this frontage.

Except one house which is long side on and still only has two windows, both at one end of the building. It has the ground and first floor window above each other, then a huge expanse of brick, then in the opposite bottom corner, the door. It must be like living in a cave inside! To this day I think the builders fucked up on that one...

theskyispurple · 09/04/2020 13:57

I always thought the bricked up windows were because there was an error on the builders part who hadn't followed the plans properly Grin

Someone near me has painted an old fashioned school desk pale blue and opened the lid and filled it with pots of plants....not really an oddity as it's gorgeous.

Sennetti · 09/04/2020 14:03

That desk sounds fun! A lockdown project maybe

@BuzzShitbagBobbly

I think I know what you mean. Some new build estates are odd. We have a cluster of houses painted pink, then a block on one end in a pale blue. It’s like toy town

OP posts:
RightOnTheEdge · 09/04/2020 14:14

I have never seen that before on new builds! I've only ever seen it on old houses.

I've seen a post lady today dressed up as Minnie Mouse on our walk today.
All the Royal Mail staff in my area have been dressing up in fancy dress on their rounds to cheer people up
