(I appreciate some of you won't have the time for crafty stuff before anyone even bothers...)

I fancy trying something new but can't make up my mind - we do have a lot of varied craft supplies in the house already.

What are you making/doing at the mo? :)

@MulticolourMophead I have tried YouTube tutorials in the past. I remember trying this one because I liked the idea of having wool that changed colour without me having to change wools. I tried this with some wool I had and could never get a proper square out of it.

I've even been on a half day beginner's course. Everyone else on the course picked it up really quickly and completed making a heart whereas I didn't quite manage it.

I'm one of those people who would love to be arty and crafty but don't seem to be able to do it. My husband would have a fit if he knew I was contemplating this. He's weathered many of my sewing / curtain making / knitting / crocheting attempts. Blush He hid the sewing machine in the loft a couple of years ago. Grin

TakeMeToYourLiar · 05/04/2020 16:59

I've started on an attic 24 blanket. I'm using the moorland colour way but using the ripple pattern.

It's going to be double bed size so it will take a while

Used a leftover piece of material to make a nice tidy roll for my jumble of knitting needles rattling around in a bag.

Entschuldigung that's a shame, maybe you just haven't found the right craft yet......Wink

Meanwhile, I've never got the hang of knitting, my efforts in that direction are dire Grin

SinkGirl · 05/04/2020 17:39

Anyone who’s struggling with knitting, try learning the continental method rather than English. I find it so much easier. The website knitting help has great videos

Wish I could teach you to crochet! I’ve taught loads of people and never had anyone not get it but some take longer than others. At first it’s so unnatural but once you have it down it’s so easy. I learnt to knit first but I crochet more often these days.

Is there anything specific you can’t get right @Entschuldigung? Do you have yarn and a hook? Happy to give some tips!

TakeMeToYourLiar · 05/04/2020 18:13

That's brilliant @Getting

flippityflobberty · 05/04/2020 18:28

Ok yoj lové have inspired me to get the needles out and try. I really want to make DD a blanket

DreamingofSunshine · 05/04/2020 18:56

Hello, I have enjoyed reading this thread!

I'm just over halfway through my first knitting project, I learnt to knit in February just before lockdown. I also crochet and I need to sew up the same snoopy as @wombatsandaplant

I've also got some needle felting kits in my stash and I've got my sewing machine to play with, but I find needle felting and seeing harder around toddler DS, he can do less damage to himself with crochet hooks! Debating ordering more yarn but trying to resist and using up my huge stash.

Entschuldigung · 05/04/2020 19:35

@SinkGirl I can't remember what my issue was now. I've got some yarn and a hook hidden in my wardrobe so will dig that out and see if I can get anywhere. I think I've got a Debbie Bliss book as well.

CrochetBug · 05/04/2020 19:42

I really need to stick to one project at a time Grin
Very large cardigan for me (I'm fat so need a huge one and was getting bored of the repetition)
A cardigan for smallest niece. Just need to finish it and then make 2 more. Its come out smaller than the pattern said, even though my gauge swatch was spot on so I'm just waiting to hear back from SIL if it will fit or if I need to add some rows.
And a doll my friends daughter wants but friend doesn't have time to make.

I'm helping co-ordinate the scrubs for my local hospital but I have stolen back time today to carry on with making a tent in the attic to keep the heat in while my DD runs online dance classes from there

Trumpton · 05/04/2020 21:16

I completed two crochet bunnies with clothes for two of my GDs. I have made a couple of comfort dolls, and and now starting on Jean
Greenhowe rainbow babies. Luckily I have found free patterns.

I've almost finished knitting a fairisle neck warmer for DD (only 2 colours), as I wanted to learn colourwork. It is much less difficult than I thought it would be.

I'm then going to finish off a couple of cross stitch projects that have been hanging around nearly finished for ages.

After that I'm going to learn to knit socks, I've had a load of sock yarn and a set of double pointed needles delivered ready.

I have a crochet blanket (the Indian summer one) on the go too and I do a bit here and there in between other things.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 06/04/2020 09:42

Forgot my other project.

DS is obsessed with Andy's dinosaur adventures, so we are making Hatty's back pack for the Easter bunny to leave him.

I've bought a canvas rucksack, and am now sewing on badges etc to make it look like Andy's

We also bought lots of "useful things "to put in there.

I'd love to do a gizmo too, but can't think how I'd make it

Undercoverworker06 · 06/04/2020 10:13

I've done lots of knitting. I've knitted a hat and boots for my friend's daughter who's expecting a baby in July, done in 6 months size for the winter. I've also crocheted a pram blanket.
If anyone wants to do little knitting projects, look on Facebook for "Warm baby project". They are after all sorts and they are ideal if you are just starting to learn; the cannula sleeves are the simplest things ever. They aren't taking deliveries at the moment obviously but you can save up the stuff you knit until later then post them. I've done loads of different things, halfway up an incubator blanket at the mo.

lucysmam · 06/04/2020 10:39

It's fab seeing what you're all up to; I very much like the glass rainbow, and the crochet ones.

I've decided I'm going to alter a dress that one of my bosses gave me since I have it here already so don't need anything. I thought about it last week but could have sworn it was constructed differently to how it is so had put it to one side.

Turns out it's going to be much more straightforward than I thought.

I do fancy crochet too though - maybe a lightweight kimono top type thing. Not sure yet, I'll have to have a think

Knobblybobbly · 06/04/2020 10:51

I haven’t read the full thread but is anyone doing (or done) needle punch embroidery? I’m watching videos of it and it looks soooo simple, but not sure if it’s not as easy as it looks?

Binglebong · 07/04/2020 15:50

I used to do a similar thing to needle punch called punchcraft. It was very easy to do.

Trumpton · 10/04/2020 08:46

@lucysmam Did you manage to alter your dress ?

Maisieme · 10/04/2020 08:59

Am about to start this Missing You cross stitch to put in a card for a loved one I am missing.

lucysmam · 10/04/2020 09:21

@Trumpton not yet; although it is constructed differently to how I remembered & the lining is a separate piece, it has a bone in the lining in each bodice side seam & I'm not sure whether to try again now Confused

Looking ahead somewhat (!) I’ve made these (easy Jean Greenhowe pattern) but haven’t sewn them up yet.
