(I appreciate some of you won't have the time for crafty stuff before anyone even bothers...)

I fancy trying something new but can't make up my mind - we do have a lot of varied craft supplies in the house already.

What are you making/doing at the mo? :)

@BlessYourCottonSocks thank you, I'll have a look while I have my cup of tea in the morning :)

Ha, it’s just a red woolly mass at the moment, @SherlocksDeerstalker, but it’s this pattern (by Alan Dart) but done in red and I’ll give it bigger wings. I did see a pattern for a more complex “realistic” Welsh dragon, but this one looks friendlier!

I've made some leggings for DD, and will shortly be starting making a tuffet.

DD9 is making doll clothes.

That reminds me. I have a small cross stitch to finish as well. I stopped it as I need a new prescription for varifocals, and I don't know if we are allowed to go for eye tests.

Oakmaiden · 31/03/2020 22:52

So far I have made Luna Lapin and sewn the rest of the badges on my daughter's Guide blanket.

I have just started a second Luna Lapin as my mum wants one too...

My dad has challenged me to a love spoon making contest, he even went on amazon and bought me the whittling knives. I’m going to have to start with YouTube and google images but I’m looking forward to spending time with some wood.

MaJoady · 31/03/2020 22:54

Mostly cross stitch ATM as I'm desperately trying to get it finished. Been working on this piece almost every day since the end of November! Almost there now.

I'm also teaching myself hand embroidery using a stitch along I found on YouTube. Eventually, i'm aiming to be able to do needle painting, but a long way off that yet!

I'm loving using crafts that are traditionally seen as old fashioned and creating modern things. (Not subversive cross stitch though, once you've seen your first and had a chuckle it's done for me). Neither ever comes up on the arts and crafts board, so if any other stitchers are out there waves!

Oakmaiden · 31/03/2020 22:56

That is an interesting idea, wasail. I wonder if my teens would be into that...

Oakmaiden · 31/03/2020 22:58

MaJoady - I am half way through an embroidery thing, but I find I need good light to do it so hardly ever get the chance (too busy during the day, and then it is too dark in the evening. I find cross stitch a bit tedious, but I love doing fancy stitches.

Wasail · 31/03/2020 23:04

Oakmaiden I am 48 but I’d do carve wood when I was a teen and loved it. It wasn’t seen as a potential career for a girl though Hmm

Wasail · 31/03/2020 23:05

I did, not I’d do

MaJoady · 31/03/2020 23:20

@Oakmaiden yes, I get the light thing. I also have a mindset of "jobs first then play" meaning even at the weekends I struggle to let myself sit down to stitch.

Have you ever looked at Moss&Feather's work (via Etsy shop / Instagram)? That's the sort of thing I'd eventually love to be able to do!

Oakmaiden · 31/03/2020 23:33

Oh wow - yes, that is certainly something to aspire to!

ChocDee · 01/04/2020 00:03

I am having some fun paper piecing and fussy cutting some patchwork blocks that are slowly making their way up on to the wall.

I have quilted them on the machine so that I can bung them in the laundry when they get too dusty for my liking.

Hoping to have loads up on the wall eventually.
I am also piecing away on a quilt for my god daughter. It's the perfect mindless activity to do in front of the Telly!

Oh and I am also machine piecing something to cover our new sofas.

I've made a pair of leggings and a romper for my son, and have a pair of leggings cut out for myself. I've made rainbow dolls for the window, stay safe cards and painted rainbow stones for the front of my house.

Haggisfish · 01/04/2020 00:15

I’m hoping to needle felt a magnolia flower...🤞

CilantroChili · 01/04/2020 05:33

I’ve been doing needlepoint. I really like it and find it so soothing. I have 3 projects on the go depending on mood/level of difficulty:time

FthisS · 01/04/2020 05:36

@Oakmaiden wow that is brilliant.

SherlocksDeerstalker · 01/04/2020 10:22

Oh I love it HP - my late father was a proud Welshman and although the family relocated to Essex after I was born, anything from the Motherland gets me thinking of him.

ginghamstarfish · 01/04/2020 10:26

Made face masks, now waiting for fabric delivery to make scrubs for the overwhelmed NHS.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/04/2020 10:33

I'm crocheting a blanket in bright rainbow colours.

DeadButDelicious · 01/04/2020 10:45

I've started the Persian Tiles crochet blanket and I made a little rainbow thing for the window.

@DeadButDelicious I love the bright colours in your crochet pieces!

Maybe I should try again at some point.

@Oakmaiden I'm half wishing I wasn't so organised with sewing badges on my girls' blankets as they gain them.

Cooking & baking. DS is missing food tech so has been asking me to teach him some recipes.

LittleCandle · 01/04/2020 12:05

I am cross stitching a huge Disney castle picture for my daughter. I have been at it since about January and am about halfway through the actual stitching part. There is miles of backstitch to do and some tassels to make, too, but I am cracking on and love sitting stitching for about 8 hours or so a day.
