We live fairly close to the local park and at the moment have a lot of dog traffic passing by as they go for their daily walks. With lots of time to look out of the window I'm realising that a good 50% of dogs passing are dachshunds! Fair number of Yorkies too and several greyhounds. We're in East London, when we visit (not at the moment obviously) my Sister just outside London Cavalier spaniels and jack russells seem to be the breeds of choice. How is it in your area?

(Yes, I'm very bored today and talking about dogs makes everything better, right?)

Calgary, Alberta - lots of Australian Shepherds, Bernese Mountain Dogs, Pit Bulls and PB types, French Bulldogs, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, German Shepherds and crosses, Collie types, American Cockers, Havanese. There are lots of mixed breeds in general - lots of people adopt shelter dogs or dogs from the reservations which are mixes.

My dogs stand out massively, I brought them over from the UK. One of the breeds is unusual here and the other one non-existent.

Where my parents live on the coast in NI is Miniature Schnauzer central. Every time I'm there and we go walking it's like every other dog is a Mini Schnauzer.

@PrettyLittleLiar20
Your ignorance and snobbery is showing.
I own bull breeds and am far from chavvy as are the doctors, lawyers, teachers I know who have them.

Reginabambina · 30/03/2020 17:30

We live in a market town and mostly see pugs, sausage dogs, greyhounds, shnousers (don’t know how to spell that) and Labs (so so so many labs).

VetOnCall I think I need to visit your parents, I love mini schnauzers Grin So much character in those little faces!

I’m not a snob. Far from it actually as I live in a council house in the grimes part of east end of London. I’m speaking from what I see around my area, the chavs who own them and walk them down the park and also use them for some form of protection. Also I just had a google for a laugh and it kind of proved me right.

I would tend to agree with @prettylittleliar20 as the only people I see with those types of dogs are ones using them for some strange status or protection.

hannabarbera · 30/03/2020 17:51

Sheepdogs-for that very reason

Chesneyhawkes1 · 30/03/2020 17:53

I've got a staffy and I certainly don't have him for protection. Neither am I a chav.

Lovely dogs but not for ignorant, closed minded people that can't be bothered to get to know them and see past the media stereotype 👍🏻

SpyApp · 30/03/2020 17:54

I've seen a lot more pointers recently. Usually trailing owners who didn't realise what bastards they are to train.🤣 Love them though.

PrettyLittleLiar20 · 30/03/2020 17:55

I’m not slagging off the dog. Not the poor dogs fault and I’m sure they are lovely. Confused

Veterinari · 30/03/2020 17:58

Samoyeds, jack russels, and Staffies

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 30/03/2020 18:02

Collies and I have yet to meet a nice one.

Giggorata · 30/03/2020 18:14

Village out in the Shires. Labs, spaniels, collies, indeterminate terriers.

LochJessMonster · 30/03/2020 18:17

Labradors, Cocker spaniels and

French bulldogs here

Surly · 30/03/2020 18:19

Staffies, frenchies and Huskies...definitely live in a chavvy area, no offence anyone

cockapoocrazi · 30/03/2020 18:19

Cockapoos and labs round here. Couple of spaniels here and there

Ginkypig · 30/03/2020 18:21

City I live in has all sorts of breeds but the area of the city I'm in definitely has (not only) but most commonly Yorkies.

Historydweeb · 30/03/2020 18:27

I mostly only notice the golden retrievers. Some have 3 or four 😍
Next town over lots of staffs Hmm

BrokenBrit · 30/03/2020 18:30

Labrador’s, working spaniels, cockerpoo/ labradoodles.
Occasional JRT/ terrier.

musicposy · 30/03/2020 18:42

Sussex village, quite rural.
Golden retrievers, labradors, spaniels, border collies. Mainly big dogs. A few little terriers, mainly Border or Westie. We own a Jack Russell cross and there aren’t many non-designer cross breeds like her, that’s for sure.

MistyIsland · 30/03/2020 18:47

In our village I have spotted

Greyhounds
Black lab
Yellow lab
Collies and collie x’s
A cocker poo thing
A springer
An Irish wolfhound
A couple of small rodent types
A English sheepdog
And a few mixed dogs no idea what they are

bruce43mydog · 30/03/2020 18:47

Manchester you see all different
But ours are collies

LightDrizzle · 30/03/2020 19:18

Loads of Shitzus, a few pugs and West Highland Terriers in my bit of Hull. In my bit of Portugal lots of rescue mongrels.

goose1964 · 30/03/2020 20:25

Westies and mutts, solidly middle class semi rural town.
