We live fairly close to the local park and at the moment have a lot of dog traffic passing by as they go for their daily walks. With lots of time to look out of the window I'm realising that a good 50% of dogs passing are dachshunds! Fair number of Yorkies too and several greyhounds. We're in East London, when we visit (not at the moment obviously) my Sister just outside London Cavalier spaniels and jack russells seem to be the breeds of choice. How is it in your area?

(Yes, I'm very bored today and talking about dogs makes everything better, right?)

SE London
Staffies, Mastiffs and Frenchies seem to be the most popular breeds in my area, but also quite a lot of mixed breeds/rescues.
The mastiffs I've met have all been rescues themselves, actually

Snorkelface · 30/03/2020 14:47

Inner city London - staffies galore and a few random border collies for some reason.

Thesearmsofmine · 30/03/2020 14:47

West Yorkshire town, lots of staffs, younger women with french bulldogs and older couples with Lhasa apsos.

Northern Ireland village

Lots of working spaniels, labradors and golden retrievers. Saw someone with an Old English Sheepdog the other day and had total dog envy!

The nearest town seems to have some kind of ancient feudal law which states that anyone who lives there MUST have either a bichon frise or a shit zu. Rarely see anything else!

NetballHoop · 30/03/2020 14:58

South East here. Many cavapoos, labradors, westies and dachshunds. We lower raise the tone with our rescue mutt of no identifiable breed.

spiderlight · 30/03/2020 15:39

Thousands of dachshunds all of a sudden. Lots of cockerpoos and other poodle crosses, fair few labs, fair few staffies. We have an actual cocker but he currently looks like a Yeti due to our groomer being unavailable and now shut, so we're forever being asked what he's crossed with.

@bloodywhitecat - I would love to see your boy - what a fab cross!

Cherrysoup · 30/03/2020 15:40

Labs. Westies. GSDs.

NemophilistRebel · 30/03/2020 15:43

Hertfordshire, definitely Vizslas followed by Spaniels and Retrievers here.

Lots of locals have pugs but you only see them on social media as they don’t seem to go to the same places as the bigger dogs

vampirethriller · 30/03/2020 15:45

Bichon frise and French bulldogs, south Yorkshire.

Infamy · 30/03/2020 15:48

Small city. Lots of poo crosses, greyhounds and whippets, pugs and similar, sausage dogs, some labs.

Lived rurally a few years ago and there was a marked difference in breed although only 20 miles away. Tended to be springer spaniels, labs and collies and collie crosses.

Crocky · 30/03/2020 15:48

Staffies. North West.

HeidiHoNeighbour · 30/03/2020 15:54

NW London.
Labradoodle and staffies

Oh my goodness - he is gorgeous!! I do love a lovely scruffy face!

willowpatterns · 30/03/2020 16:38

Edge of rural-ish small town. Mostly labradors, spaniels, scruffy terriers of dubious parentage and staffies.

insertcaffeine · 30/03/2020 16:39

Staffies and French Bulls.

labazsisgoingmad · 30/03/2020 16:39

tenbury wells lots of terriers of all sorts staffys and lots of labs i have also seen a gorgeous afghan hound there are also a few whippets and they come from the same dad!

Mrsfussypants1 · 30/03/2020 16:39

Dachshunds, frenchies, pugs, anything with a "poo" in it, red labradors.

Eckhart · 30/03/2020 16:43

East Sussex... Lots of everything but heavy on pugs and frenchies. Quite a lot of sausages too. It's quite trendy round here.

Fuss · 30/03/2020 16:44

Staffies, but we are in Staffs.

Cant think as Ive seen another Scottie on a walk in years. DD has a sausage, last time we all went out we met loads of them, including one wearing an identical coat.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 30/03/2020 16:45

Warwickshire village (Kenilworth). Hundreds of poo crosses and spaniels with a few labs thrown in here and there.

We have a poo cross and a spaniel. Wouldn't have a poo cross again if you paid me; it's by far the worst dog I've ever met with all the highly-strung nature of a poodle and the absolute madness of a spaniel. The only positive thing about him is that the DC are madly in love with him.

MakeLemonade · 30/03/2020 16:46

Labs, labradoodles and cockerpoos the most popular here in my bit of Surrey.

PrettyLittleLiar20 · 30/03/2020 16:49

Staffies- the most chavvy dog to ever exist.

Fanciedachange1 · 30/03/2020 16:55

Seems to be a mix here, but I have noticed a few trend changes in regards to the dog in the local shelter.

When we adopted ours (staffie) 8 years ago it was mainly staffie/staffie mixes. Then it went to greyhounds and now it’s moving towards smaller dogs like jack russells, sausage dogs and Lhasa apsos.
