Where the fuck can I get Tampons

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 30/03/2020 08:58

Seriously, this is ridiculous.

I have ridiculously heavy periods (tampon change every hour for 3 days)

I normally have at least one box in the cupboard but friend needed them and I thought No probs I’ll just grab some in the next 3 weeks.

Period is due on Saturday and I can’t find any anywhere...I’m in London ffs...there’s hundreds of shops but nada! Amazon keep saying they have some then cancelling my order. I have no food shop due to come

I normally use super plus tampax compak but will use anything at this point. Except a mooncup or similar. I have one but my periods are so heavy it doesn’t work for me

Help! (Please!)

Try the little corner shops/petrol stations, not the big stores

bellinisurge · 30/03/2020 09:02

How about making reusable pads. Or buying them online if you can't sew.

JustFrustrated · 30/03/2020 09:02

Petrol station/corner shop/order reusable?

ps1991 · 30/03/2020 09:03

Have a look at small brand organic ones. I haven’t tried them but often see them Advertised bI think TOTM ones are more mainstream as I see them in the shops. Or you could look at reusable pads, period pants??

Speekachu · 30/03/2020 09:03

Have you tried Superdrug?
You can order but have to collect at your nearest store with availability.

drspouse · 30/03/2020 09:05

Just to warn you the smaller makers of reusable pants often make to order so it's worth asking if they have them in stock before ordering.
But a trawl round the small shops might get you some. Small chemists and convenience stores.

Had the same trouble last week

Went to Costco they have them

TeddyIsaHe · 30/03/2020 09:08

I had a massive allergic reaction to TOTM tampons and ended up in hospital with a horrible infection, so be careful with those ones!

I’ve struggled to find tampons as well. My mum sent me a box of hers in the post! Corner shops and small ethnic shops have been the best bet round here.

PinkDaydreams · 30/03/2020 09:08

Have you tried a mooncup? I was only saying to DH the other day that my mooncup will be perfect to use now as I think it’ll be difficult getting tampons. I normally only use it at night but I’m going to use it during the daytime too now.

moolady1977 · 30/03/2020 09:08

As others have said try the little corner shops ,my daughter had the same problem about a week ago she rang me nearly crying over it I did a emergency tampon shop to my local Asda they had only 6 packets in of the own brand I picked her up two packets and told her to keep checking her local shop . It was like people had just gone in and wiped the shelf clean

PrincessHoneysuckle · 30/03/2020 09:11

No help but this is why I bought 2 packs a month ago,I had a feeling people would end up panic buying them.I hope you find some op.

moanyhole · 30/03/2020 09:12

I was the same last week. Really didnt think people would stock pile sanitary products. Ended up using facecloths in my knickers- not easy as 12 hour shifts- for a couple of days until I eventually got some pads in aldi.

bellinisurge · 30/03/2020 09:14

Reusable pads. Relatively easy to manage laundry of them. Stops you being reliant on shops.

happypotamus · 30/03/2020 09:16

I got some in Tescos, but it was a Tesco Express in a city centre (I am a keyworker working in a city centre in case you wondered what I was doing recently in a city centre)

JemimaPuddleCat · 30/03/2020 09:19

Do you know anyone who works for a public service or support group - Carer's Centre, disability service, addiction service, practice nurse, anyone like that? Woman's Aid? Victim Support?
I know that there's many of these types of places that stock sanitary products for women in need. They may be closed just now, but have some supplies at home to give out to those in need.
We managed to get some pads from a local ASD support worker.

tiredanddangerous · 30/03/2020 09:20

Oh god have they panic bought all the san pro too?!!! I need some this week too Angry

I would try the smaller corner shop type places as I think they’re more likely to have stock. My local one even has loo roll now when both the local big supermarkets don’t.

mummabubs · 30/03/2020 09:21

Just a thought... Do you have a local Coronavirus Facebook group or community group? Where I live if people haven't got something or can't get it in shops other members of the community who have spares box have been volunteering to hand them over for free and drop them at people's houses (on doorsteps in line with social distancing). It's been lovely to see community spirit in action in the major city I live in. I'm sure people in your community would be able and willing to help if you can't source any in shops?

Liverpool52 · 30/03/2020 09:22

I managed to order some from Boots but I was in an online queue for 4.5 hours.

BuffaloCauliflower · 30/03/2020 09:24

Would you be open to trying cups? One size doesn’t fit all (try the Put a Cup In It quiz online and watch some videos about fitting) but they generally hold 3 times what a tampon can so are much more long wearing, much better for heavy periods as they need changing less

Hippywannabe · 30/03/2020 09:25

Tena pads are like gold dust too, i managed to get some actual Tena ones this week on my Tesco order.
Ilast week, I had to get the last couple of packs of Lidl version. They are utterly useless when you are suffering with the cough! I went through 5 last night alone! (And I really don't have that much of a problem!)

Elouera · 30/03/2020 09:25

Boots, superdrug or Holland and Barrett?

We have an ethnic/Asian food store with spices, herbs, fruit etc, but they also sell henna, paracetamol and pads. No tampons, but gigantic, 80's style pads!!! Worth a look if desperate, otherwise you'll have to cut up a towel.
