Where the fuck can I get Tampons

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 30/03/2020 08:58

Seriously, this is ridiculous.

I have ridiculously heavy periods (tampon change every hour for 3 days)

I normally have at least one box in the cupboard but friend needed them and I thought No probs I’ll just grab some in the next 3 weeks.

Period is due on Saturday and I can’t find any anywhere...I’m in London ffs...there’s hundreds of shops but nada! Amazon keep saying they have some then cancelling my order. I have no food shop due to come

I normally use super plus tampax compak but will use anything at this point. Except a mooncup or similar. I have one but my periods are so heavy it doesn’t work for me

Help! (Please!)

Have you tried places like Wilkinsons, Home Bargains, pound shops, independent pharmacies etc?

Are there none if you go to a supermarket in person?

Can you ask friends and family to look out for some when they go to the shops - I realise this may be embarassing, but if you have close female friends, sisters, cousins, aunts etc, they'll understand. They can leave them on your doorstep and you paypal or bank transfer the money to them.

Elouera · 30/03/2020 09:27

Another thought- if you can find a mummies group/pregnancy group in your area, then they wont be needing tampons for a few months. Grin

None in Superdrug to collect anywhere near me, none in supermarkets and can’t get on boots but I didn’t think of little corner shops! Thank you!

I need probably 4 boxes over the 3 days so may have to do a tour of shops!

Reusable sanpro isn’t an option, they are far too heavy (sadly as they’d save me a ton!)

I’ve come to terms with not being able to buy bread or a jar of peanut butter for the foreseeable but this is too far! Hope everyone who needs sanpro can also get some!

Reusable pads called "post partum" pads are understandably massive and absorbent. Take a look at that style.

Hippofrog · 30/03/2020 09:29

Amazon have them

TobyeBella · 30/03/2020 09:31

Petrol stations

mamansnet · 30/03/2020 09:35

Health food shops often have eco-friendly sanpro and other hygiene products

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 30/03/2020 09:40

I’ve ordered them 7 times on Amazon and each time they can’t fulfil the order Confused

Reusable pads don’t work, I need a super plus tampon and maternity towel changed every 60-90mins and reusable ones just don’t cut it

Have you spoken to the dr? You could request a prescription if tranexamic acid. It reduces the bleeding.

Sloff · 30/03/2020 09:45

Ebay?

Some on there but maybe not what you need or the make you would choose.

OtherVoices · 30/03/2020 09:51

Is there an Aldi nearby?
They stock up that department every morning here.

wheresmymojo · 30/03/2020 09:53

I would send you some in the post but I only have the light/mediums.

They were bought on hols for swimming but I use pads generally so they're going spare if you get desperate. Could post them 1st class today.

wheresmymojo · 30/03/2020 09:54

Obviously they'll cost you £50

Not really. I am not a dick.

CandiceSucksCandy · 30/03/2020 09:54

I couldn't get any either. Amazon don't have any either, they say they do but they don't.
I've had to make my own.
I'm using cut up towels with a plastic sheet as the base and a pillowcase as the top. And wearing dark clothes.
It doesn't work brilliantly but it's better than nothing and I can wash them. I'm also sleeping on a sort of home made puppy pad out of the rest.
I don't believe its stockpiling anymore. Nobody is allowed to stockpile from the supermarkets.
There isn't any hair dye in any of ours. I don't believe a swarm of greying locusts flew in and stripped the place.
The supermarkets just aren't getting them in in the first place.
The suggestion of tranaxemic acid is a good one OP, if you can get it.

Elouera · 30/03/2020 09:59

I'm on the superdrug website. They have both applicator and non-applicator super plus and super plus extra types, but only for click and collect.

strawberrylipgloss · 30/03/2020 10:01

I remember joking to my dd now that toilet paper is all gone, san pro would be next but I didn't really think that would happen!
Is there a FB COVID support group for your area? If you were local to me then I'd bring you some because I finished last week so have spare.
Any train station loos near you that might have a machine selling them?
Don't forget that poundshops sell them too.

JustMySize · 30/03/2020 10:12

If all else fails, this is something they did in the old days.

Cut a towel and fold into shape of STs and pin to pants.

Wash and repeat.

Deathraystare · 30/03/2020 10:14

Tena pads are like gold dust too, i managed to get some actual Tena ones this week on my Tesco order.

I am going to have this problem too. I normally go to Wilko or Boots but cannot go until Thursday (payday).

Tablefor4 · 30/03/2020 10:16

There are online brands like Ohne and Yoopie

TheBlueStocking · 30/03/2020 10:17

The shelves were fully stocked with them in Boots a few days ago.

BearSoFair · 30/03/2020 10:20

I really feel for you OP, last week I had to order a bulk box (16 packs for 30 quid! Usually get them for 95p a pack...) of pads on Amazon because it was the only way to get any and I was getting desperate!

notthemum · 30/03/2020 10:27

@Hippywannabe
Dunno if they are still open but Savers have had plenty of Tena lady pads (all sizes)
If you get there early enough you can also get, hand wash, baby wipes And bog roll

sleepismysuperpower1 · 30/03/2020 10:29

mypure.co.uk is selling some super plus flow tampons here with free delivery. can't see where it says when it will arrive though x
