Where the fuck can I get Tampons

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 30/03/2020 08:58

Seriously, this is ridiculous.

I have ridiculously heavy periods (tampon change every hour for 3 days)

I normally have at least one box in the cupboard but friend needed them and I thought No probs I’ll just grab some in the next 3 weeks.

Period is due on Saturday and I can’t find any anywhere...I’m in London ffs...there’s hundreds of shops but nada! Amazon keep saying they have some then cancelling my order. I have no food shop due to come

I normally use super plus tampax compak but will use anything at this point. Except a mooncup or similar. I have one but my periods are so heavy it doesn’t work for me

Help! (Please!)

WTAF Is going on in the uk???!!! Why are your shops completely empty and shops in Ireland are full to the brim!!?? SadSorry OP I know that's not helpful, I hope you find some soon. Thanks

It's really area dependent in the UK judging from experience of my friends/relatives.

I'd go for a cup and reusable pads at the same time

If you are ordering online from anywhere I can recommend the German brand O.b. Tampons. Best I have used and as they are less well known here they may actually still have some in stock. They do ultra high absorbency ones that are very good.

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 19:30

Amazon! The ones I use are expensive in the shops but cheaper online and I can get the mega-super-staunch-a-bullet-wound variety.

caringcarer · 30/03/2020 19:37

I had a few boxes I will never use now as gone through menopause so packed them up and sent to dd who told me she is on her period next week and only has 6 tampons left. She has had a supermarket delivery but none included and no substitute product. She is asthmatic so I really don't want her going out scouting around supermarkets. Petrol station's have them and especially motorway services.

SirVixofVixHall · 30/03/2020 19:41

OP when I had horrendous flooding periods ( at one point almost ended up in casualty as I was bleeding through a pad every few minutes) the pads that coped best and held the most flow were the washables. I had Charlie Banana ones from the earthwisegirls website. They also have natracare tampons .

Lordfrontpaw · 30/03/2020 19:44

I also use the knickers with the extra bits sewn in as a back up against leaking. Oh ‘it’s lovely to be a woman’ sometimes isn’t it?

KellyMarieTunstall2 · 30/03/2020 19:47

Just a thought, if you have to change a superplus every hour, you could try tranexamic acid tablets to reduce the flow. See if your gp will prescribe. It's been a game changer for me.

Gwynfluff · 30/03/2020 19:59

Aldi don’t always have super plus. Neither do many local shops, I find.

Also layout for reuseables is often very high.

PiggyPokkyFool · 30/03/2020 20:07

Have you tried Poundland - they had hundreds of packets 4 days ago (the last time I was out)

Daisychainsandglitter · 30/03/2020 20:37

I have really heavy periods too OP and was worried about this. I managed to get some from eBay

Impatientwino · 30/03/2020 20:47

I have to go to the post office in the next few days so could post you some as well. A while ago the supermarket subbed my usual super for super plus so I have two unopened boxes I didn't use.

PM me your address and I'll send them in the next few days

ThatLibraryMiss · 30/03/2020 21:07

No help but this is why I bought 2 packs a month ago

That's nice, dear, but why did you feel you had to tell us?

TerrorWig · 30/03/2020 21:08

i've got a partial pack of super tampons you can have, just PM your address and I'll stick em in the post box tomorrow. I have to post a letter anyway.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 30/03/2020 21:17

@ThatLibraryMiss erm because I'm reading a thread about someone who cant get them and I'm glad I got some when I did, wind your neck in..dear.

MontysOarlock · 30/03/2020 21:33

If anyone is ever interested, rather than needing to go to the post office, if you already have several stamps in then howmanystamps.co.uk will tell you parcel sizes and how many stamps you need to affix depending on weight and size.

It allows you to just pop it in the post rather than making a journey to the post office. I know not everyone will have them in their house but for those who do this may help

Menaimum · 30/03/2020 21:34

Smaller online pharmacies like Lloyds - just checked Tampax super compact perl in stock. Not ideal but needs must.

Nimello · 30/03/2020 21:35

I bought some in Waitrose today. Different types as I was buying for DD, too.

The shelves were stocked as normal.

woodencoffeetable · 30/03/2020 21:36

our shop only had the thick kotex left.
but tbh I might switch to them - sooo comfortable

CheddarGorgeous · 30/03/2020 21:37

Please can I second tranexemic acid combined with ibuprofen. How you are not anaemic I don't know.

cheeseismydownfall · 30/03/2020 22:10

Missing the point a bit, super plus tampax really aren't very absorbant at all - it's no wonder you are having to change them every hour if you have even slightly heavy periods. I use Lilets super mother fucking extra massive (or something like that! They are in a yellow packet) - I'd give them a go.

Impatientwino · 30/03/2020 22:23

Monty that's a really helpful link thank you - means I can just pop my parcel in the box and not have to queue go near anyone

HavenDilemma · 30/03/2020 22:34

Not super plus but www.costco.co.uk/Health-Beauty/Bath-Body/Feminine-Hygiene/c/cos_7.5.7
