Anyone else been spending A lot of money online, since lockdown

I’ve ordered things online for the kids and a few treat etc and seem to have spent fair bit more than usual, guess it’s some sort of attempt to feel better

No.

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 23:21

no

n00bMaster69 · 29/03/2020 23:21

Nope

AllForAnEasyLife · 29/03/2020 23:22

No. I’m normally a massive online spender with something arriving daily but I have really cut back on it

PontiacBandit · 29/03/2020 23:22

Our spending has plummeted, no fuel, no top up shops. I did a few big shops before lockdown, much more than I'd normally buy but it means I've enough to keep us going for a few weeks. I've bought some office stuff for working from home but that will be reimbursed. Oh and I've just remembered I splashed out on Disney+ to help keep kids entertained but I can't foresee much else to buy in the next few weeks.

EmmaC78 · 29/03/2020 23:23

I am doing the opposite, I am trying hard not to spend anything unnecessarily.

I have read a few things on FB urging people only to order essentials to avoid added stress and risk to the delivery people. It has made me think more about what I order.

Charliebong · 29/03/2020 23:25

Yes I have, I've bought decking stain and a few things for my daughter's birthday in May.

lauryloo · 29/03/2020 23:26

More than usual. But only because I have a baby due in 6 weeks and had left everything till the last minute

PontiacBandit · 29/03/2020 23:27

I think we'll be saving until we are sure our jobs are safe, not that we are normally big spenders, but definitely cutting back.
I know that doesn't help the economy in the short term but I would like to ensure the mortgage gets paid and we're not adding to the burden of people who truely need the mortgage /credit holidays.

Angharad07 · 29/03/2020 23:27

Yeah. I’ve ordered some outdoor toys for our toddler and I’m spending more on food now that we don’t have to pay for dp’s train ticket (working from home saving us £80 a month). We could only afford £35 max a week on food before so it’s a nice treat considering everything that’s going on. Enjoying the small things will make this easier. I feel really sorry for people struggling right now.

LukeSkywalkingOnTheseHaters · 29/03/2020 23:27

Nope. If anything, despite a safe job I am spending less and not buying any frivolous or unnecessary

CallarMorvern · 29/03/2020 23:28

Yes and no. Mainly practical bits that I'd just nip into town for usually. DD is getting through masses of Pritt sticks and other stationery/art stuff that she needs for GCSE work. So I've ordered those. The filter broke on my dishwasher, so I've ordered that and DH has torn his work chinos, so a pair of those too.
But normally I spend on Ebay 2nd hand clothes, but I don't feel comfortable doing that at the moment.

thenightsky · 29/03/2020 23:29

No. Our spending is well down. No petrol for the last 2 weeks for one thing. On line... DH had some coffee pods turn up last week. Nothing since.

Escapeistheonlyoption · 29/03/2020 23:30

No- most online stores have shut down anyway now.

playthestation · 29/03/2020 23:30

Absolutely not. This has really taught me that I want to have more in the saving account than have in the spending account. I am trying very hard at a time where nothing is guaranteed to keep as much money as I can. 2 weeks ago I thought I could leave my house and go for a coffee with friends. I will never take anything for granted again. That includes money coming in.

Knocksomesense · 29/03/2020 23:33

I was browsing Amazon this evening, hunting for what I could buy. I normally have a list as long as my arm. Tonight? Nothing.... I could summon no desire for any of it. It took me by surprise

JustStayAtHome · 29/03/2020 23:34

thank you to those who are considerate to distribution staff and retail workers.....we appreciate it!

amazedmummy · 29/03/2020 23:35

I feel like I'm buying a lot but in reality I'm buying more food because we're all at home and the things I can't get in the supermarket I've had to order from elsewhere.

inmylifeIlovedthemall · 29/03/2020 23:36

Another no here.

I am worried about spending anything that is not absolutely essential and equally worried that someone might be uneccesarily exposed delivering to me.

I also think this massive shock to the system will reverberate economically for years to come and emotionally, for me, forever.

Things I took for granted at Christmas have just dissapeared. Especially my inner sense of security !!

thaegumathteth · 29/03/2020 23:36

I had to buy a laptop so my daughter can access her school work more easily so yes

Lynda07 · 29/03/2020 23:36

I think I have a bit. I keep telling myself I'll slow down tomorrow which I will, tomorrow.

IncyWincyGrownUp · 29/03/2020 23:42

I’ve spent on things to do online - prime and kids unlimited.

I’m about to order a sander though, as I have no other way of getting one and nobody I know has one I can borrow.

ellanwood · 29/03/2020 23:46

I haven't bought anything yet. Will buy some Kindle downloads soon but nothing else.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 29/03/2020 23:50

I am used to popping into Boots and other shops at lunchtime, buying coffee on my way to work, nipping into the supermarket on my way home, so on balance probably spending less. I have definitely spent more on Kindle books though.

Lifeisabeach09 · 30/03/2020 00:11

Bought some streamed movies and a few items from Amazon, such as toilet roll!
