I know a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet so I'm not trying to be insensitive - I'm not necessarily talking big purchases but if you are lucky enough to have financial security at the moment, what have you ordered to keep you busy?

I've ordered some make up products as before this I was training as a make up artist and want to practise different looks to keep myself in the game.
I also got a load of yarn so I can knit and some garden seeds to plant and veg stuff which I would have ordered regardless.

@Aberforthsgoat regarding the delivery driver saying thanks for ordering..

We ordered an Indian takeaway last night and the delivery driver said the same thing. He really appreciated us ordering so that he still had a job to do. It made me feel less guilty for ordering a takeaway!

GinChocolate

Wired4sound · 29/03/2020 12:58

A trampoline, wine and Nintendo DS (not to be used at the same time)

formerbabe · 29/03/2020 13:01

I bought some make up online...I still try to put it on most days and I've been doing my nails and fake tan. I need to do this to feel human...otherwise I let myself go and feel down.

HarrietTheShy · 29/03/2020 13:09

Treadmill.
Paint.
A massive indoor plant I'd been eying for ages. Figured I'm home enough now to enjoy it.

Aberforthsgoat · 29/03/2020 13:15

I’m self employed and It doesn’t look like
I meet the criteria so it’s not as simple
As that. But anyway, I’m not disputing your point I’m just saying it’s not as cut and dried as all that

Nice food
Wine natch
Nice felt tip pens
A printer
Les Mills Online - actually I've had that for ages but it's coming into its own now.
I'm getting a bike on Tuesday (payday). Sorry but if I'm going to get DD out for some productive exercise this is a must.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 29/03/2020 13:29

When I saw what was coming (i.e. few weeks before the schools shut) I bought the following:

A new Mac for the kids (old Mac is 12 year old and DH thought it would be fine, first day of the kids at home he said 'you were right to buy a new computer', the older 2 are getting full timetables of work and we are using both Macs and that's with DH and me with work laptops).
A new printer (old one had died last year)
Badminton set
Football boots for DD1 (feet had grown)
Trainers for DS (feet had grown)
Roller skates for DD2
Basketball net and ball
Crown series 2 DVD
More casual clothes for the DC (no school uniform needed till Sept).

We have had the following delivered for years: veg box and milk and are increasing our orders from these companies (dairy is very local, veg box has local farm but covers the whole country). Very very glad of them now.

What we didn't buy before but have now bought after WFH for a bit is an office chair. The home office was always set up for the odd day of WFH (before this I'd WFH maybe twice a month) so we just used a dining chair but we need a better set up, I'd taken my mouse, keyboard and laptop stand home but not my chair.

FraughtwithGin · 29/03/2020 15:05

Single malt whisky and I have treated myself to new whisky tumblers, which can also double up as water glasses.

newidentiy · 29/03/2020 15:43

Wine and garden lights.

Where are you all buying plants from? All I have been able to find is crocus who do massive packs currently have over 100.00 sitting in a basket but really would like 6 packs of different varieties

LBOCS2 · 29/03/2020 16:22

So, so far I've bought:

5x packs seeds from Mr Fothergills
2x clematis from an independent clematis supplier
3x dahlia tubers from an online nursery
72x plug plants & 1x dwarf buddleia from Thompson & Morgan

I've also got a fatsia japonica and two hydrangea in my Crocus basket but I'm waiting until payday to check out, as they've got a 2 week wait on them anyway.

RhymingRabbit3 · 29/03/2020 16:31

Chocolate for me
Clothes for my newborn baby and daughter aged 3. Looking at them in colourful and cheerful clothing really cheers me up and buying lovely summer dresses is helping me look forward to the warmer weather when all this might be over

Tootletum · 29/03/2020 16:33

I can't buy anything I want. No paint, no garden stuff. It's all not available on delivery or click and collect.

MadameButterface · 29/03/2020 16:33

Agree with nomdefuckit

Places like asos are still requiring their warehouse staff to work in dangerous situations without ppe, access to hand gel etc, their Barnsley warehouse has 6 turnstiles for 500 workers

Postal workers are completely knackered

If you’re the sort of person kicking off about people walking their dogs or doing more than 30 mins exercise a day but you’re ordering unnecessary tat by post to ‘cheer yourself up’ you are a hypocrite and need to have a word with yourself

Not saying don’t order anything but be mindful of where you’re ordering from and what conditions the people who have to pack and deliver it to you are working under

pourmeanotherglass · 29/03/2020 16:33

New office chairs for the home office, as Im going to be spending more time there so want to be comfortable.

TheClitterati · 29/03/2020 17:33

Nothing yet. I wouldn't mind some fence paint and a bike.

I have lots of bit and bobs and jobs to do at home. I have plenty of fabric to sew. I'm trying to do all the outstanding jobs & use stuff I already have before buying anything more.

As the future is so uncertain I'm hoping to be able to save a bit of money this month, while I am still working.

newidentiy · 29/03/2020 17:36

I am looking at crocus and my basis for this is the conditions they have out in for their staff it's on their website

LaneBoy · 29/03/2020 18:06

I’ve not bought anything since actual lockdown but I’m really glad I finally ordered the set of drawing pens I’ve had my eye on for ages, they arrived just a few days before the rules set in. I was delaying buying them so I could definitely afford my first tattoo, but obviously cancelled that! Once I’m better I’ll be drawing a lot.

There’s a few crafty things I want to get to do with the kids but I’m trying to think of what we can use up in the house first.

I’ve had a virus (or The virus, maybe) so barely ate anything for a week but I am definitely craving chocolate and cake now!

Deathraystare · 29/03/2020 19:33

Trophycat - when this is all lover, can you thread a needle for me please? I cannot see the blummin' hole on my needle and those little metal things that are supposed to help, don't- they are too flimsy. I have a hole in some trousers that I can now not wear until the end of CV!

Not exactly desperate, but still...

Deathraystare · 29/03/2020 19:34

All over, obvs, not lover!

ChilliMayo · 30/03/2020 04:53

Cadbury Creme Eggs.
We have one each a day (feel free to judge, while you're judging me you're leaving some other, more sensitive, bod alone Smile).
It's become quite the event each day, when I put out the chocolate ration.

fullofpolroger · 30/03/2020 05:24

Panic bought a piano, it's the best. We've been meaning to get one for a while and now we won't have a summer holiday we can afford it. I had it same day delivery when there was gossip that schools might close. It's been a god send for my teen and so nice for the rest of the family to hear.
