Thought we could have a sort of pet diary thread, what they’re getting up to. With pics!

My old spaniel will be having a fairly quiet day but quite possibly a snack-filled one, as they have muck-spread the fields we walk through. It’s like a giant buffet for him

Dog1 is being a big softie and looking for cuddles (on his terms) if he's not barking at next door's fence. Dog2 and Pup are both sporting cones of shame because Dog2 has been chewing her front paw raw (a reoccurring issue due to allergies) and pup was spayed on Monday. None of this stops pup from constantly trying to remove dog2's collar and fighting with her or waving Dog2's favourite broccoli toy in her face to remind her that she's just as capable of picking up toys and is slightly faster. Dog1 stays well away, pup learnt the hard way that he is an old man and is not up for games. Cat2 stays securely in the kitchen, ready to beg for human food and raw chicken. Cat1 is fast asleep in her favourite bed with no plans of moving. Cat3 is making as much noise as she can and cat4 is posted outside of various bathrooms, trying to sneak in with humans before they realise so he can drool on your legs and climb on your back as you wash your hands. All fun and games

Yesterday's snoozy time.

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but DH took our darling cat aged 17 for an emergency vet appointment on Tuesday as she was very lethargic and had lost 800g in a week. He diagnosed an abdominal tumour 😿and gave her a steroid injection to hopefully shrink it and make her more comfortable but she is living on borrowed time. At least we are all home to spoil her rotten for the time she has left.

Monty has had a fun packed day - managed to pick up a dead rabbit on his daily exercise walk so we had fun and games trying to get him to drop it without touching it ourselves!!

Usual running around with various footwear in his mouth, now curled up happily on the beanbag. I have to say he is definitely the happiest member of the household with all this staying at home lark

Our cat forgot she is 18. I let her in the garden to relax in the sunshine. She climbed up and down the pile of old fence panels for ages,
She needed a 3 hour nap to recover

PurplecatDog is delighted mummy is home all day just now and various runs about the garden in between my Skype meetings. He’s now happily snoozing. The Purplecat brigade spent most of the day snoozing in various sunny spots in the house and are continuing the theme

Well after the great escape during the week fluffy the hamster is safely back in his cage.

We are waiting on a face time call from a rescue to foster two dogs so hopefully by Monday we will have new company to keep the DC entertained

Dogs have had a walk this morning with DH and are now chilling on the sofa and patio.

They are missing their big walks in the country/fields/woods though. Local walks aren't the same for them.

I didn't actually want another dog when Dh brought her home as a 4mth old.
I was childminding at the time, and generally childminding and dogs don't always mix well, we'd also not long lost our other GSD to cancer. I was still grieving for her.

Saying that however, I've since had an adult and their child, plus another child come through my setting
(who's family went on to get their own dog)
who were frightened of dogs, and overcame their fears..

This is my girl Amber. Having a little sulk because I made her come in from the garden. She is terrorising the local bird population who are trying to build nests.

Mine has had 2 trips to the vets today.
He's a rescue dog I've only had since Tuesday ( before you flake me I was getting a dog in September when my work hours go part time but decided to bring it forward as wfh for the foreseeable )

Cat 1 - plotting the downfall of the human race.

Cat 2 - making sure he has tested every single comfy spot in the entire house.

Doddery old dog - selective deafness. Snaffling biscuits. Lounging on the grass in the sun. Being adored by DC(7) and adoring him back.

Kai is too regal for a box, get that dog a throne.....

Dcat 2 desperately woke me at 5am persisted in keeping me up until I can no longer get back to sleep now is fast asleep and glares at me when I poke him

And believe me I'm.poking him

Henners is still basking in the Good Dog vibes he gained when DS managed to run into him at such speed that he (DS) somersaulted right over the top of him (ddog), and ddog did not so much as grumble. He is a Good Dog.

He is currently hanging around DS in the hope that a biscuit crumb might hit the deck. Which is probably why he puts up with the occasional bit of unexpected acrobatics so well, to be completely honest.
