So after my previous post saying that I couldn't get Planet Zoo on Mac...DP bought me down his spare all singing all dancing gaming PC!! I have Planet Zoo!! OMG it is AMAZING!!

Soubriquet · 30/03/2020 20:20

I wish I could afford a decent gaming laptop

I’ve got a shitty one that is quite slow at times. It works ok but not as good as I wish it would

TerribleCustomerCervix · 30/03/2020 20:25

That was the problem with the Sims 3 wasn’t it?

I had a decent pc at the time but that game must’ve required a set up with the performance capability to programme the space shuttle to run it properly.

@PennyNotSoWise

So I invited all my Sims and their friends round for a pool party and then, when they were all swimming, I built a fence round the whole pool perimeter, with no gate - and the little bastards just climbed over it. This is Sims 3. They don't die. I've set the house on fire and they put it out. They climb out of the pool. They are immortal Grin.

bellabelly · 30/03/2020 23:00

I love you all. I have just signed up for Steam, paid for Sims3 and just waiting for it to finish loading. Then I'll probably stay up way too late playing happily and be very grumpy for Joe Wicks and "home school" in the morning! Grin Will also check out the follow up to Theme Hospital - god I loved that game...

Cremebrule · 30/03/2020 23:05

I spent many hours on roller coaster tycoon, theme hospital etc. I’m not sure I can risk downloading them as I’m already panicking about fitting everything in. Has anyone found the Settlers available to download? That was even more of a time sucker for me than the sims. I loved it so much.

Wanderlust21 · 31/03/2020 00:50

I was checking out the Jurassic game for xbox when it first came out but it was proper expensive! But will totally get it when it's on sale :)

I think I downloaded that kingdom game from game pass, must play it when I get the chance!

Titsywoo · 31/03/2020 00:58

I played the SIMS for a while about 15 years ago. God knows what my problem was but i was shit at it and my character kept pissing itself. When all my dreams became SIMS based I has to stop playing it Grin

MinorArcana · 31/03/2020 01:10

Oh, I miss the Sims. I used to love Sims 2 and then Sims 3. How does Sims 4 compare?

I think I’ll need a new laptop before I can get it again though. I can hardly ever get near the desktop between DH and the DC and the desktop is cluttered with too much other stuff anyway.

I’ve been playing a lot of Rollercoaster Tycoon on my tablet recently. Unfortunately Theme Hospital doesn’t seem to be available on that.

AccioCake · 31/03/2020 11:13

@MinorArcana It took me a really long time to get into Sims 4. It's not open world. There's way less commercial and recreational lots in each world. I loved shopping for groceries or going to the bookstore in Sims 3! The pros to Sims 4 are there's tons of skills to learn, the worlds look amazing, the careers are good, lots of collectables if that's your thing and getting rich is pretty easy (I'm one of those people who plays rags to riches, I never use cheats!). With Sims 4 the base game is pretty disappointing though. You really need the expansion packs to make it exciting. I absolutely love Sims 3 but even with a brand new gaming laptop it was rubbish to run.

Look for My Hospital,nits similar.

SimplySteveRedux · 31/03/2020 11:19

it's not nits..bloody autocorrect.

Oh absolutely this. I remember playing Sims 4 for the first time and it felt so empty after the fleshed out, open play of Sims 3.

Once you start adding expansions it gets more immersive, but its frustrating that you have to invest £££ to get the same kind of choices etc that you had in the earlier game.

Sims 4 is way easier to run though. My, now very old, pc has no trouble with it.

Isitrainingihadntnoticed · 31/03/2020 17:44

My sim passed away last night of old age.....

juneybean · 31/03/2020 17:46

I definitely agree with you @TerribleCustomerCervix I was very against buying sims 4 for a long time as was sick of pouring money into the game for the same old addon packs. But I did finally relent and also bought city living and get to work. I do love it though.

Also love that its having a resurgence I keep hearing of people picking it up after years.

Soubriquet · 31/03/2020 17:53

They do take bloody ages to die on sims 4

When drowning mine didn’t work, I made a room, made him go in it, then removed the doors.

He went for ages falling asleep in his own pee before finally dying!

And the grim reaper took ages to take him away as it was too busy chatting up the grieving widow Confused

babydogandi · 31/03/2020 18:35

My dog has been alive for about 35 years now and is still going 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ at this point even I might be upset when he dies

PennyNotSoWise · 31/03/2020 19:54

@MagnoliaJustice

Man, I thought you were talking about Sims 4, so sorry. The fence thing works on 4.

Have you tried a full on wall? I'm determined for you to drown these feckers Grin They deserve it now for being so defiant. (Though going by your luck at murdering them so far, they'll probably just waltz right through the wall 😆).

MagnoliaJustice · 31/03/2020 20:39

@PennyNotSoWise

I'll try a building a big fuck off wall over the weekend. I think my fence was too low. Or my Sims have secretly evolved into escape artists. I'm going to go for a really high stone wall.

I'm back at work tomorrow for 3 shifts (NHS nurse) so will be too knackered to go about my murderous intentions until Saturday. I hope people reading this thread realise we are discussing animated characters in a life simulation computer game and not members of our families Grin

PennyNotSoWise · 31/03/2020 20:47

Grin Oh yeah. If people heard discussions out of context of some of the shenanigans a simmer gets up to...LOL.

Stay healthy :)

Isitrainingihadntnoticed · 31/03/2020 21:51

Well I created another sim within 2hrs she set herself on fire and died....because she fried a fucking egg.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 31/03/2020 21:57

There was a Stuff Pack released for Sims 4 recently which focuses on building really small houses which looks really interesting.

I find I always build huuuuge mansions which are then just too big to play with a family so that could be a good one!!!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 01/04/2020 08:38

TerribleCustomerCervix Tiny Living! I bought it. I love it.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 03/04/2020 19:15

I've just noticed my first post was so full of typos from my insomnia induced haze. Blush

If anyone likes to try some challenges with their Sims, there's a list here.

forums.thesims.com/en_us/discussion/788042/list-of-challenges-legacy-and-other-for-sims-4

I've die the legacy challenge and the asylum challenge a few times - my last asylum challenge was a flop, I made the asylum a place so they didn't give a toss about being unable to leave the lot 🤦🏻‍♀️

MrsSnitchnose · 03/04/2020 19:25

Sims 3 for me Smile You lot have inspired me to go and play on mine tonight. I've been neglecting them for a few weeks now. My sim has been pregnant with number 15 for ages now Grin
