Dh has been teaching me to play Dying Light on the ps...I’m not that good but it’s fun killing zombies 🧟‍♀️ Plus when it gets hard he takes over 😂 I’ve also been playing sonic I’d forgotten how much fun that was!

I also love the sims...off to see if I can find it and install it on the laptop!

FredWinnie · 26/03/2020 16:50

Inspired by all this I'm going to fire up an old game on the Sims 3 Grin

SimplySteveRedux · 26/03/2020 21:28

You know, Humble Bundle have a sale on at the moment, and I also have a coupon, (www.humblebundle.com/subscription/activate-discount?gamekey=Wm4cwZqq7qKzGNA8) for an additional 20% off, if someone wants to grab Two Point Hospital. Enjoy :)

My dd is addicted to the Sims too.

ChevalierTialys · 27/03/2020 22:05

I used to play a game where you had to build successful Roman towns, that was a real time killer

Caesar3 @Harveyrabbit76?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 27/03/2020 22:15

Sims 3 is better than 4.

I've been playing Dizzy games, Monkey Island, Zak McCracken and the Alien Mindbenders and a some old text adventures. Sulking a bit because I wanted to get a Switch and Animal Crossing but there's none available. Will have to get my Nintendo DS out and play AC and Zoo Tycoon on that instead!

Harveyrabbit76 · 27/03/2020 22:51

Yes! Caesar 3! There is also a Civ city game too @ch

Harveyrabbit76 · 27/03/2020 22:55

Funnily enough called Civcity Rome Hmm

ChewChewIsMySpiritAnimal · 28/03/2020 07:04

Aahh my people Smile I've just borrowed my sisters laptop for work and it's got theme hospital and loads of other games that we used to spend hours on. I'm not sure I'll get much work done. Baldurs gate too, and the Sims. My favourite was the sims 2 - still quite basic but still plenty to do. Also age of empires. Modern day gaming wise I'm playing assassins creed odyssey. I love the female protagonist and it's pure escapism.

A lot of people don't understand how good gaming can be for your mental health.

InsaneProbably · 28/03/2020 07:30

I updated my Sims 4, too. I have an old family, on its 9th generation, I think, but so far all I've been doing has been building isolation bunkers...

As to other games, I'm enjoying Elder Scrolls Online at the moment. Mainly just the fishing and flower picking, with the odd bit of killing things in the mix.

kiwiblue · 28/03/2020 07:37

Ribbit king here 😅

TeaAddict235 · 28/03/2020 08:04

Sorry to badger you @BobbinThreadbare123 but have you got modern versions of Dizzy and Monkey Island? Where from and on what platform please?

TeaAddict235 no they are mostly old! I run emulators like WineUAE (Amiga) and WinApe (Amstrad). SCUMM engine is downloadable too, and they do have a few free games like the delightful Beneath a Steel Sky. Having said that I do have the remastered LucasArts packs from Steam and DH has got the iPad version of MI.

Look behind you! A three-headed monkey!

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/03/2020 08:44

Bloody autocorrect - WinUAE

Catmummyof2 have a look at the website MyAbandonware. It's a treasure trove of old games!

TheClitterati · 28/03/2020 09:48

My daughter is going to be 9 in a month. She has been asking for SIMS4 and something to play it on for over a year. I'd like to get it for her.

We have Nintendo Switch and old iMac. I don't think either are suitable to play sims 4 (I'm pretty sure it has to be some 4).

Any help you can give me so I can get sims4 for her please? I don't play games myself so I'm totally clueless.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 28/03/2020 09:51

You can get it from a site called Origin. You download the game and it can launch from there. It's quite a hungry game though; needs a decent processor and graphics card. Have a look at the website for the specs.

Soubriquet · 28/03/2020 10:45

Yeah

You need to sign up to origin, and then purchase the game through them.

This will allow you to download it. Takes a while and needs updating every now and then but as long as you have an up to date computer/laptop, it’s all good

Gertie75 · 28/03/2020 10:48

Animal Crossing came out on the Switch last weekend, perfect timing, I'm spending hours fishing and designing my outfits.

TheClitterati · 28/03/2020 11:02

I think that's the problem. The iMac is 10 ish years old.

So I would need to buy a games console so she could play it. Or powerful laptop. Whic is getting expensive

Snorkelface · 28/03/2020 11:03

Farmville is calling to me, so far I've resisted.

Moonshine160 · 28/03/2020 13:48

Oh wow, this thread has really made me want to play The Sims, Rollercoaster Tycoon, Theme Hospital and Airport Tycoon! We’ve actually been looking to buy a new laptop as ours has died - Can anyone recommend a decent but not extortionate laptop that would cope with these games without too poor graphics?
@AndNoneForGretchenWieners which laptop did you buy if you don’t mind me asking?
