I've just logged on to my origin account that I haven't used for ages!! Thanks for this!!! Grin

I'm just concerned that downloading sims will adversely impact on my laptops ability to video conference for work.

Moonshine160 · 29/03/2020 21:31

@AccioCake thank you! I will download number 3 when the laptop arrives then. What laptop did you get? I haven’t bought a gaming laptop, just a standard mid-range one, so really hope it works properly now!

PennyNotSoWise · 29/03/2020 21:31

I LOVE The Sims but it's a shame they've learned to leap out of the pool when the ladder's removed. No more drowning,

You can still drown them, just gotta draw a fence around the pool. Nowhere near as fun as taking the ladder though.
And I'm pretty sure the ghost of a Sim who drowned will leave puddles all over your lot when they visit. Arseholes Grin

For a laptop I would go with sims 2 or 4. Sims 3 was horrendous on my fairly high spec laptop.

MagnoliaJustice · 29/03/2020 21:41

@PennyNotSoWise

Can they still get out of the pool? Or do you have to completely enclose the pool with a fence? So no tiles or poolside furniture?

I can't believe I'm asking for instructions on how to drown my virtual family members Grin

heartonastring · 29/03/2020 21:51

I have been a sims girl for years.
A few years ago I bought sims 4 but couldn't get on with it. I just tried it again yesterday and can't help but compare it to my beloved sims 3. It's just not the same! Did you know sims 5 should be coming out next year?!

PennyNotSoWise · 29/03/2020 22:02

@MagnoliaJustice

Completely enclose the pool, but don't add a gate Grin You can draw the fence right against the edge of the pool, literally on the trim, so poolside furniture shouldn't get in the way.

They definitely can't get out. I may have invited one or two unsuspecting, annoying Sims over for a swim in the past, for testing purposes 😈

PennyNotSoWise · 29/03/2020 22:04

^draw the fence once your target is already in the pool, I forgot to add 😆

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 29/03/2020 22:45

Quick tip for people wanting sims on the cheap. Go on ebay and you can get origin codes.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 29/03/2020 22:55

Can someone tell me if two point hospital is better on Xbox or PC? Or does it not make a difference. Just tried Sims 4 again and remembered I didn’t really enjoy that version. Will give Sims 3 another try as I’m sure I did enjoy that one!

LangClegsInSpace · 29/03/2020 23:06

I read the first page and the last and I'm glad that some things never change. Any discussion about the Sims always ends up with how to drown them in the pool. It's like a virtual Godwin or something Grin

PenguinsOnParade · 29/03/2020 23:15

I'm late 30s and never stopped playing the Sims. I still prefer 2 to 3 or 4, I've got a bunch of families I play a Sim week at a time and cycle through, once the teens are ready to age up they all head off to uni where they get together with other students from the other families so they all end up related in some way. Every family always has 6 kids at one time, when one moves off to uni they have another or adopt, they keep on adopting until the parents both die so every family ends up with around 20 kids. I even have a spreadsheet with a list of the family names to make sure I don't miss one out as it ends up with quite a few families once the kids all get through uni and move back. Blush I rarely use the cheats though, I make my Sims work for anything they want to buy. Grin

I’ve been playing on the Xbox but I don’t think it makes much difference.

I’m pleasantly surprised by how smooth the controls are, which isn’t always the case with pc games converted to console.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 30/03/2020 01:26

Thank you @TerribleCustomerCervix it does sound like a game I’d like

I’m in two minds, I could put it in the laptop and play whilst hubby is watching tv. Or on the Xbox then he’d have to put up with it (to make up for the amount of rubbish I have to sit through him watching!!!)

SimplySteveRedux · 30/03/2020 01:47

As I posted earlier, there's a sale on at Humble Bundle and I linked my code for 20% off. You are given a Steam key for the game, it's a fab game, I find you get the most mileage in these games from a keyboard + mouse combo, so I'd go PC every time,

Wanderlust21 · 30/03/2020 03:52

I played twopoint hospital on the switch and wasnt happy with parts of the controls. Didn't really enjoy the game either which came as a surprise. 2 hours was long enough to play it and then I uninstalled.

I found the same with the new zoo tycoon. They tried to make it look pretty, at the expense of everything else. The controls are a pain! The original zoo tycoon was a masterpiece.

WindFlower92 · 30/03/2020 04:22

Can recommend Jurassic World game - zoo tycoon but a million times better!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 30/03/2020 04:40

I leave a very special place in my heart for The Sims and still play it regularly now, some of my most unhappy times in life have been weathered by marathons on there (legacy challenge, asylum challenge anyone?)
When I was in a situation where I was t working due to other continents and felt utterly helpless and worthless, I started creating bits and bobs,on the Sims 3 and ended up making custom items for people and started eating a little bit of money through it.
I have most the Sims 4 and it's packs now.

Theme Hospital/Two Point hospital are favourites here, always bee a huge tycoon, building, management game fan and would love recommendations for others. Theme Park and Rollercoaster Tycoon, Zoo Tycoon we're always good for a play.

I also love House Flipper on Steam,

It seems I've found my people! 😀

Plus I get a slight thrill out of my teenagers seeing their boring Mum come to life when buildI got a kick ass house to spec in The Sims.

hetookthecorkscrewtoo · 30/03/2020 08:05

Kingdom come deliverance is amazing! I got very excited when I spotted the person used to play Henry was on a lunchtime drama a few weeks ago, didn't feel so odd to have a crush on a game character when I could actually see them as a real human Blush

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 30/03/2020 08:18

Oh recommended the Mass Effect Trilogy to anyone. It's worth it for the Turians.

AccioCake · 30/03/2020 15:13

I love love Theme Hospital but I just can't get into Two Point Hospital. I get stuck at the level where you have the Research room and you start off with zero staff that all need training up. I rage quit last year and haven't been back on since.

Did anyone ever play Theme Park World? I loved that. I got it for my laptop but it was really glitchy on the Halloween park.

AdoptedBumpkin · 30/03/2020 15:25

My DP is playing various games for the first time ever in some cases. I'll try and found out some names.

FrothyB · 30/03/2020 15:33

I've sunk a few too many hours into Football Manager 20. I've also started Crusader Kings 2 again.

Only need to click the left mouse button in both games, so I can sit there holding my 5 month old in one arm and click away between entertaining her.

NemophilistRebel · 30/03/2020 15:39

I’ve just been playing lemmings!
Tried to find sim city but the version I wanted I couldn’t open on my laptop.
This could definitely be a slippery slope

Soubriquet · 30/03/2020 15:46

Jurassic World is awesome!!!

Seriously, if you like zoo tycoon go for it.
