What are you going to do about your hair?

Not go to the hairdresser obviously. I mean how are you going to deal with your hair at home in the long term? It could be months before hairdressers can open again.

Mine is cut and coloured fairly regularly and it's quite a 'style' that can't be dealt with by a trim at home by DH or something. Roots starting to come through, have never home dyed so no idea where to start!

It's not the end of the world obviously but I'm NHS and going to work everyday so I need some sort of plan. I was very ill last year and couldn't leave the house for nearly 3 months and my hair was rancid which just amplified my general feeling of misery so I'm keen not to feel like that again if I can help it!

Not something I will worry about given the crisis of the pandemic tbh

RibenaMonsoon · 22/03/2020 17:45

I'm bleached blonde. Only had done 2 weeks ago. I guess I should be grateful that brown roots are 'in' right now. There's no way I'm bleaching my own hair.

lamppostdog · 22/03/2020 17:47

I'm going to box dye wacky colours as I'm not allowed whilst in work.

i’ll just be trimming it myself

TheWooisStrong · 22/03/2020 17:49

I’ve a one length long bob. Style will be fine as it grows. Not to happy about my roots but can’t face dealing with them using home dye so I’ll be going grey.

Anyone else getting this advert showing?

What are you going to do about your hair?
JaneEyre7 · 22/03/2020 17:55

The only thing that's comforting me is that everyone else is in the same boat, tbh.

My hair is cut into a shaped bob, grows like wildfire, and it was due a cut this week. I'm trying not to think what it's going to be like with another 6 weeks of growth Hmm

iamclaireandfleabag · 22/03/2020 18:44

I'm relying on my headscarf collection. More Rosie the Riveter rather than the Queen I hope though!

I am @Aridane 😂

nancy75 · 22/03/2020 19:04

My mum is in turmoil!
She is very glamorous, goes to the hairdresser at least twice a week for a wash & blow dry and hasn’t washed her own hair in years.
I have suggested my dad could learn how to dry it, the suggestion didn’t go down well 😂
On the other hand I always look like Hagrid on a bad day, so it won’t be a problem for me

chocolatdrink · 22/03/2020 19:19

My hair is shoulder length so I'm going to end up with long hair and grow my fringe out.

I've bought a L'oreal magic retouch concealer which looks like a mascara for the grey roots. I will just wash my hair every other day instead of every day. I'm not sure if I will resort to box hair dyes.

FilledSoda · 22/03/2020 19:28

I'm low maintenance for hair , I'm allergic to hair dye , cut my own fringe and get a hairdresser to cut straight across the bottom of my long hair about once every 18 months.
I'm quite grey but obviously without that demarcation line that dyed hair has . I'd recommend Wella Color Fresh toner if anyone wants to tone down the colour difference. I pop a dark blonde one on when I get bored with the grey and a purple one on when I want it back . You'll get about 6 washes out of it .
I dread getting my my gel nail colour off, I hate all that soaking and scraping . I wonder if I could just grow them out.

OxanaVorontsova · 22/03/2020 19:30

mine is a long pixie crop, I had it done last weekend and usually have a cut and roots touch up every 5 weeks, if I go to 6 it looks raggy and 7 is awful, not sure what I"ll do

BeetrootRocks · 22/03/2020 19:33

Just realised now is the time to have the Mohawk I've always wanted. Although DH will have to do it! Why not. It's going to look terrible anyway (going grey, currently short back and sides so will be horrible growing out, and it's sort of curly wavy but can't make it's mind up). There is time to grow it out after all!

Goldwispa · 22/03/2020 19:33

Oh no, I never thought about my hair! I'll have very noticeable dark roots! 😮

BeetrootRocks · 22/03/2020 19:34

I work in corporate world so this feels like an opportunity... If you can say that, with all this!

PurpleCrowbarWhereIsLangCleg · 22/03/2020 19:42

I'm with you Beetroot. Teaching online for the foreseeable so this is the perfect time for shaved sides & a big 80s goth pineapple head.

In purple. 😁

mumwon · 22/03/2020 19:44

@preponderings I have this image of you standing in a circle doing each others hair - personally I am going for the shaggy (grey) sheep dog look - its going to be the height of fashion don't you know! maybe in a few months we could do images of our hair (with faces blanked out - not to difficult with me as my fringe will cover me to my nose exactly like a sheep dog!)Grin

TreacherousPissFlap · 22/03/2020 20:01

DH has categorically refused to shave my head - I've always wanted to do it once and it should be back to normal length by the time I manage a haircut again Hmm

BeetrootRocks · 22/03/2020 20:09

Purple- do it!

I'm 46 so lucky to only be going grey now. I have / had natural blonde hair and when I was young everyone banged on about it and I never ever dyed it, which was a good idea tbh. And then there was work to think of I'm in a v traditional industry. I caught the end of punk etc the older girls at school had amazing hair and I've always had a hankering.... Now is the time

SimonJT · 22/03/2020 20:09

My neighbour and I both gave ourselves handlebar moustaches tonight. Both our boyfriends are suitably horrified, mission complete.

BeetrootRocks · 22/03/2020 20:10

Treacherous is he terrified of fucking it up, mine would be!

If you want it all shaved short you can do that yourself, blokes do it all the time.

I'm not that brave Grin

nancy75 · 22/03/2020 20:36

Simon dd & I have persuaded dh to let us redesign his beard, a handle bar is one of the options we are considering

LER83 · 22/03/2020 20:40

Thankfully I had a rather posh wedding to go to start of March so hair was cut & eyelashes done etc, so should be ok for a while. Although I think weeks of homeschooling 3 kids, 2 with autism, is going to turn me completely grey, I'm only 36 😭. On the plus my oh and 2 boys are going to look ridiculous in a few weeks, especially as they've all got double crowns!
