Anyone else in the Ocado queue?

thereisfreedomwithin · 21/03/2020 20:37

I am at queue position 6659 of 8372 to edit my order. My queue position isn’t changing but the number of people in the queue isn’t.

Has anyone got to the front? Or is it better to accept that we’ll get (hopefully) what we get.....?

You can only remove items, you can’t add or increase quantities,. If you’re wishing to remove items wait, but if you wish to add, you’re wasting your time. I went in this morning, and tried it.

thereisfreedomwithin · 21/03/2020 20:42

Ah ok thanks Bluntness.
So we should just be grateful to get the regular order?

Don’t bother!

Aragog · 21/03/2020 20:43

I've given up. Seemed to stay on two hours for so long - it never reduced, even after over an hour of having the tab open.

Its coming on Monday. Its a big order, but I know there are duplicates. etc and some things I wanted to add. Not actually sure I want to risk editing and it crashing and cancelling either.

I'm more annoyed that the Ocado reserved for a fortnight later (when I got on briefly with no wit this morning for some reason) says thee's no slot and rebook. So basically - reserved isn't actually reserved after all.

TheLarkDescending · 21/03/2020 20:44

I spent a couple of hours in the queue and got through eventually about 30 minutes ago.

You can still add stuff. They don’t have their full range and some stuff e.g. bread is restricted but it’s a pretty good selection still.

Bluntness100 · 21/03/2020 20:45

I wasn’t able to add anything for my order tomorrow, I wonder if it was because it is tomorrow. I was in early this morning.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 21/03/2020 20:46

I’ve got about £30 worth to remove on mine, think it might just be easier to wait and see what arrives and send back what I no longer need.

Can’t see how we will ever be able to make another order if the only time they let you on the website is to alter an order but it then means it’s too early to reserve another slot anyway.

waspfig · 21/03/2020 20:47

Just posted this on the other Ocado thread:

I had an email this morning to say I could now edit my order. Great, I thought. Except it said I could remove items or cancel the whole order but would not be able to add ANY items to the shop! Shock

I cancelled it as I had saved the delivery slot for my elderly grandparents with an bottle of champagne Grin

minipie · 21/03/2020 20:51

I’m waiting to edit a Friday delivery. Numbers are decreasing but I already got sent back to the start once so am assiduously keeping the page going.

Yellowbutterfly they won’t let you hand back items. But you could give to local food bank or neighbours.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 21/03/2020 20:55

This was extra stuff ordered for neighbours who have now been able to get elsewhere. I can’t afford to just give away £30 at the moment

QuillBill · 21/03/2020 20:55

You can hand things back at the moment. Well, not physically. We had an order today and he asked us from halfway down the drive if there was anything we didn't want as he would take it out before he brought it over.

GiantKitten · 21/03/2020 20:57

I’ve had a very frustrating session which I gave up after being on for well over 3 hours, gradually moving forward, stalling, moving forward again, getting to a 30 minute wait, then going back to 1 hour, then reversing position 🙄

Meanwhile a friend in a different part of the country went from 3000 to edit & out in 30 minutes.

I don’t know what they’re doing Hmm

minipie · 21/03/2020 20:57

Oh ok I didn’t know that. Thanks.

tiredanddangerous · 21/03/2020 20:58

Why is Ocado having this issue when the other supermarkets aren’t? Genuine question, I’ve never used Ocado.

WinstonWolf · 21/03/2020 21:05

I thought the whole idea of their site being down for part of this week (which i found out from bbc news, would have been nice to have received an email) was that they were fixing this?

Can anyone confirm whether the reserved slots are still working, or is it a free for all?

QuillBill · 21/03/2020 21:11

Ocado isn't a supermarket, it doesn't have any shops, it's all online and they have warehouses. Their website wasn't able to cope with the volume so they took it offline in order to try to make changes. Now they are trying to stagger the number of users so it's not overwhelmed.

It's all been a bit of a disaster and they shouldn't have been taking new customers when they couldn't cope with existing ones. Of paying their CEO millions of pounds in bonuses.

I wouldn't say the supermarkets have been coping at all, either.

FinallyHere · 21/03/2020 21:28

would have been nice to have received an email

I'm guessing that you have already checked your spam filter ...

Yellowbutterfly1 · 21/03/2020 21:36

My order is for Tuesday so I haven’t received an email but the website says if you have an order booked for Tuesday-Sunday 29th you can wait to edit your order so I’m trying now rather than risk being too late.
Just hope it doesn’t crash

RNBrie · 21/03/2020 21:41

My order is for Tues as well. Took about 30 mins to get in a couple of hours ago, the website said over 2 hours but it was no where near that long. It did say all changes had to be done today though!

underneaththeash · 21/03/2020 21:46

I’ve been waiting for over 4 hours to get in. Currently position 1662 of 4099. But I was something completely different an hour ago (people and queue wise)....

Growingboys · 21/03/2020 21:51

I got in as I have an order coming tomorrow. While I was in I tried to book another order for the future but it said no slots available.

I don't understand what they're doing. It's really worrying - would be so much better if their holding page would say we will open it back up as normal next week, or something.

I also find the bosses disgusting the vast bonuses they hand themselves. They must be making a fortune now - wouldn't it be nice if they gave a few millions to vaccine research, or to make more ventilators?

michellejj · 21/03/2020 21:57

I edited my order for the coming week this afternoon. I was in the queue for 2 hours. I could add items, obviously subject to stock and limits. But things are mostly available for a normal weekly order.
It's not too bad.
Also, you can still give unwanted substitution back to the driver. I did today.

Witchlight · 21/03/2020 22:01

I wanted to add bread, milk and butter for neighbour (90s) as we already had a slot. We couldn’t as limited to 2 for butter and 1 for bread. We did manage to up the milk.

We going to have to “survive” On one pack of butter and half a loaf this week 🙃

I suppose it it people being ridiculous that means we can’t offer help and group orders

thereisfreedomwithin · 21/03/2020 22:03

Update: all is well. I just left the iPad alone, then it got on to the site, then the site worked fine and I amended the order as usual.
Hope that reassures somewhat.
