Can we talk about Nicola Walker, please? Or your other woman crushes?

I think I love her.

She's absolutely beautiful in a very natural way. I mean she has a very natural attractiveness which doesn't need make-up, procedures or fancy clothes. She looks amazing in Halifax.

I also like that she looks her age. This is so often used as an insult against women but I think it's so refreshing to see a woman in her late 40s looking like a woman in her late 40s. The fact she looks her age doesn't detract at all from how stunning she is.

I also really like that she's in the prime of her career now, in her late 40s, and is playing really realistic and likeable characters who are also meant to be women in their late 40s. She's a great actor.

I basically love her. She doesn't give me fizzy fanny or the like but I just want to watch her all the time and I'd really really like to go on a night out with her, she looks like she'd be an absolute scream

Please tell me you share my love of this woman?

If not, who are your woman crushes? Can't bring myself to write 'girl crush' Envy

Sarah Lancashire.

letmepeeinpeace · 28/02/2020 11:22

Definitely OP!

mogloveseggs · 28/02/2020 11:24

Both of those mentioned are amazing and it would be one hell of a night out I'm sure!

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 28/02/2020 11:26

Keeley Hawes, bet she’s good fun on a night out.
(I think my DDs would like her to be their mum tbh Grin)

caulkheaded · 28/02/2020 11:26

Keeley Hawes. She and Nicola Walker have been my girl crushes since c1997

I remember Nicola Walker being on The Last Train (dystopian ITV drama when I was 12). Love her.

TheWoodsareDarkandDeep · 28/02/2020 11:28

Keeley Hawes is wonderful, I also like Romola Garai. I’m not sure about Nicola Walker, I think she seems the same in every role she plays

zenasfuck · 28/02/2020 11:28

Katherine moennig gives me proper fanny flutters

xenophilius · 28/02/2020 11:29

Hermione Norris . The only reason I watched Cold Feet .

And yy to Nicola too ... I was worried I was the only one !

TheWoodsareDarkandDeep · 28/02/2020 11:29

I love Katherine Parkinson too

SapphosRock · 28/02/2020 11:38

I'm more of a Sarah Lancashire fangirl too. Although much prefer her with a northern accent than the dodgy Welsh accent.

She was amazing in Happy Valley.

SickOFant · 28/02/2020 11:47

I kind of agree but this is another reason why I like her, to be honest. It feels as though she's not 'acting' too much, its feels authentic. I can't quite put my finger on it but I like that she plays the same kind of characters (over-worked woman in her 40s, a bit saucy, a mother).

Re. Sarah Lancashire. I don't know, I feel as though she overacts a bit and does a weird breathy thing at the end of her sentences. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch anything with her in it but not because she's in it IYSWIM. Yes, terrible terrible Welsh accent Grin

Yes to Nicola Walker. And I also add Jessica Hynes.

Clawdy · 28/02/2020 14:55

With Nicola, it's those mesmerising eyes. You can't take your eyes off her face when she's on screen. I love her acting style, I know it annoys some people but it's so different and fascinating.

amigababy · 28/02/2020 14:59

Yy to Nicola Walker. I wanted to be Ruth Evershed.
Also Jodie Foster. And Eve Myles.

EdersonsSmileyTattoo · 28/02/2020 15:15

Vicky McClure 😍

SickOFant · 28/02/2020 15:21

Yep, I also love Vicky McClure.

One of the proudest times of my life was when I had my hair in a short rough platinum pixie crop and I got told I looked like Lol from This is England by four different people over a couple of weeks

I'd love to be friends with Jessica Hynes. Ever since she was in Spaced, although I know she did stuff before that. Did anyone see 'There She Goes' last year? It wasn't particularly well advertised, but her acting on that brought me to tears and blew David Tennant out of the water.

SickOFant · 28/02/2020 15:59

@sugarbum Yep, saw that show with Jessica Hynes. It was absolutely brilliant and she was amazing in it. The girl as well was superb. Really underrated show I thought.

Eve Myles is one I would agree with. Also, more embarrassingly, Natasha Hamilton.

SirVixofVixHall · 28/02/2020 16:04

I love Nicola Walker, she has such a mesmerising, expressive face, with those beautiful eyes. She is good in everything.
I also like Keeley Hawes and Maxine Peake in pretty much anything.

ChicChicChicChiclana · 28/02/2020 16:04

Never wavered from Helena Bonham Carter. I bloody love her.

JigsawsAreInPieces · 28/02/2020 16:05

Nicola Walker and Suranne Jones. I've loved them in anything I've seen them in.

SirVixofVixHall · 28/02/2020 16:07

I remember Jessica Hynes’ performance in Bob and Rose, many years ago now. She was so good.

RuffleCrow · 28/02/2020 16:08

I know exactly what you mean about Nicola Walker. She's beautiful and she looks her age in a really, really good way. I'd also love to see a day when we can say that about other women and have them know it's a sincere compliment, not a horrible insult.

My woman crush is Natasha Lyonne. She's a complete one-off: beautiful; naturally witty; brilliantly talented; hugely intelligent and philosophical; wise beyond her 40 years because of her past demons, not in spite of them. She's one of those extroverts that also seems to have a quiet, introspective side. I could wax lyrical about her all day! Grin
