Bob Dylan. My dad is obsessed, saw him lots in the early days. He, and I will be gutted when he dies.

Paul Wellor, same reason but for my partner

MeatLoaf. Love him, his music. I’ll be so sad when he dies..

David jason, Bruce willis, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De niro off the top of head

PrettyyGood · 20/02/2020 07:50

@RethpoDad you're dreading the death of someone who died many years ago? Oh but it's not that Bob but another one?

How weird you are

Nuttyfellalovesnutella · 20/02/2020 07:52

I think they mean Bob Monkhouse but hey has already passed.

David Bellamy is already dead
Joni Mitchell I agree
Bruce Springsteen

anicebag · 20/02/2020 07:53

Most of these people, but Billy Connolly will be so so sad. For me, he's the hilarious friend/ family member at a tenement party, link to a Glasgow that doesn't exist in the same way.

CaptainMyCaptain · 20/02/2020 07:57

I think we are often most affected by the death of people we idolised in our late teens, for some it was Elvis (I remember that happening), for me it was David Bowie who, in a way, defined me aged 17. I didn't wallow in grief but it was a big reminder of time passing. On the other hand, when my parents died and I had good reason for grieving I also felt the burden of now being 'the older generation'.

Bob Newhart?
Bobby Brown?
Robert Smith (clutching at straws)?

overnightangel · 20/02/2020 08:03

The Queen just because it’ll take over the telly/papers/everything for months and the publicity seeking grief thief’s will be out in force 😒

showmethegin · 20/02/2020 08:03

Attenborough, the queen, Keith Richards (I'm 31 but think he'll outlive me tbh, he's pickled!)

LadyGAgain · 20/02/2020 08:05

The Queen
David Attenborough
Gary Barlow
Lord Lloyd Webber

xsquared · 20/02/2020 08:08

Also thought David Attenborough immediately when I saw the thread title.

Lweji · 20/02/2020 08:13

I was going to say nobody, but yes to Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Or any other reasonable and non-GOP/Trump mindless minion Supreme Court Judge.

It's just that her death seems more likely in the short term.

And she'd be replaced with another Brett Kavanaugh.

Ydl22 · 20/02/2020 08:15

More than anyone else, David Attenborough. He’s amazing.

Also, June Brown. I’ve watched her as long as I can remember on Eastenders so it will be sad without her in it.

Ian McKellen, Michael Palin, some of the older wwe wrestlers

Rememberallball · 20/02/2020 08:16

Sorry but I can’t work up any effort to worry about the death of people famous only because of what they do for a living. I find the amount of social media grief unnecessary and rather bizarre- almost as if people want to compete to be more affected by it. Probably not a popular opinion but it’s how I feel!!

Skyejuly · 20/02/2020 08:17

James Taylor💔
Stevie nix
Joni Mitchell

FrangipaniBlue · 20/02/2020 08:17

Stephen King
David Jason
Dick Van Dyke

Skyejuly · 20/02/2020 08:18

Nicks

SciFiScream · 20/02/2020 08:21

Patrick Stewart. I've loved him for 31 years now.

The Queen.

saraclara · 20/02/2020 08:21

Yep I'm with you @Rememberallball. I find nearly all the posts on here bizarre.
I posted Ruth Bader Ginsberg because her death is going to set in motion something with far reaching negative consequences.

I'm not dreading someone just not being on tv any more. I don't know them and life won't change.

AlternativePerspective · 20/02/2020 08:23

I came on to say that David Attenborough can’t be allowed to die but I see everyone else beat me to it. Grin.

But I think dreading is a bit odd really, just as much as people being in bits/sobbing/devastated over the death of some celebrity is. In the case of musicians/actors etc their work lives on anyway, it’s not as if we see the likes of some of them out in concert any more is it, the likes of Paul McCartney is remembered because of the music he wrote some 50 years ago. I think that will still be around even when he’s not.

WhereShallWeMoveTo · 20/02/2020 08:26

I’m not dreading anyone’s death as I don’t know any of them personally. In the case of anyone elderly and highly respected I’ll consider it a good life, lived well. No one goes on forever, not even the Queen or David Attenborough.

The only time I would dread it is when someone I admire is at the peak of their talent and just too young to die.

There are a few people who have global legend status who are now in ‘old age’ so I guess it’s only a matter of time before all the household names I grew up with (I’m in my mid fifties) will start to us in the not too distant future.

Spoke in the case of Her Maj, I’m only surprised this past couple of years hasn’t finished her off already, frankly.

AudacityOfHope · 20/02/2020 08:26

I dread any royals dying, not because of the sadness but because we'll never hear the bloody end of it in the media for weeks. The papers will be filled with mawkish shite and people waving flags outside BP while dressed in Union Jack clothing.

Dumakey · 20/02/2020 08:27

Stephen King and David Attenborough.

overnightangel · 20/02/2020 08:28

Paul McCartney has been dead for over 50 years 🤷🏻‍♀️

whatswithtodaytoday · 20/02/2020 08:28

Dave Grohl. Hopefully not for a long time yet, but he suddenly looks older and it's unsettling.

HolyMerlot · 20/02/2020 08:31

Julie Andrews
Tom Jones
David Attenborough

Surfer25 · 20/02/2020 08:32

No one.

It comes to us all.
