My local Oasis closed down before Christmas and I miss it so much! I've just been browsing their website and it's just not the same as seeing something on the hanger and thinking "ooh that's pretty!"
My favourite perfume and lipstick have been discontinued. I've been stockpiling thanks to ebay but they've been gone so long now I don't think I will get any more of either now. I won't look or smell the same soon Sad
What do you miss?
I fully expect this thread to be lots of people missing Woolworths and yes I still miss them too

OP posts:

Cadburys chocolate
Principals - it used to be lovely
Woolworths - I miss everything
Bhs - I loved their bedding, and kitchenware, and their breakfast.
White Stuff - the women's clothes are much poorer quality than they used to be, menswear still nice though.

Boujois make-up - found out yesterday they're not selling in the uk. I usually bulk buy and went to buy my favourites. Boo!

Oh really? I noticed the other week that my local Superdrug have stopped selling Bourjous. Annoying

LHMBF · 20/02/2020 21:27

Mr Kipling used to do chocolate covered cup cakes in a foil case - they also did Orange and lemon ones, so delicious. A thick layer of fondant icing with vanilla sponge. Do they still sell them?

Omg I'd forgotten about them, they were yummy! I haven't seen them for ages

peaceanddove · 20/02/2020 21:28

I miss Next how it used to be twenty five years ago, when it used to be toward the higher end of the high street. Always used to get my 'best' clothes from there. I had a beautiful red lambswool cardigan embroidered with little flowers that cost me £65 back in '94. You can't spend more than about £30 on knitwear now and it shows!

Crystal87 · 20/02/2020 21:31

MK One, Cadbury Marble, Glitterbabes from Boots, obviously wouldn't use it now but I have memories of spending all my pocket money on it.

Fanciedachange1 · 20/02/2020 21:32

Bakers oven cheese and onion bakes!

Perfect ratio of pastry to filling, lovely and crisp on the outside and no layer of air in the middle.

No other pasty can top them. The greggs replacements are beyond naff

WellTidy · 20/02/2020 21:36

Principles petite - when it used to be a standalone store, not the tat that Debenhams now sell

Richards shops petite

Austin Reed

Petite Affair - was always online only

The Pier

Frugrains breakfast cereal. Oh, I loved those.

Crunchymum · 20/02/2020 21:48

Closed down -

  • Next and Gap. They weren't the biggest of stores but you could order online and return to store.

  • Borders. Had a ginormous one near me and could while away hours in there.

Discontinued -

  • M&S chicken escalopes
  • Vaseline line fresh deodorant

Flex Balsam shampoo. The lovely tingly feeling in your scalp.

Neutrogena clarifying shampoo.

Jackie magazine.

My youth.

AnuvvaMuvva · 20/02/2020 21:59

GinZing. It was one if the first alcopops. It was made by Schweppes and had ginseng in it. It really perked you up.

You can still get shock but I must've been the only person who bought GinZing as it died away. ☹️

AnuvvaMuvva · 20/02/2020 22:00

You can still get HOOCH, I mean.

I also miss my eyesight.

wannabebetter · 20/02/2020 22:13

wildgirls · 20/02/2020 22:23

Boots marshmallow shampoo and conditioner and in fact all of the natural collection’ stuff! I can still imagine all of those early 90’s smells and it makes me so nostalgic!!

zwellers · 20/02/2020 22:26

The Pier for Christmas shopping and candles.
The pavillions shopping centre in birmingham as a whole particularly the deli France patisserie.
Yes to the international magazines in Borders.
Chocolate instant whipp the food of the gods.
Marks and spencer chicken tikka sandwiches as sold in the late 80's/early 90's.
Vice versas!

Fairypiggy · 20/02/2020 23:02

@LHMBF re Dr Pepper they have added artificial sweeteners to the full fat red version to reduce sugar content due to the sugar tax. Hence it tastes different especially if you don’t like the taste
of sweeteners.

sandyposy · 20/02/2020 23:04

Amazonia perfume from Aveda - the only perfume I’ve ever really liked (sadface)

Fairypiggy · 20/02/2020 23:04

@zwellers yes I used to love going to the Pavillions in Brum in the nineties. Spent ages in the pier, wax lyrical and the gadget shop.

sandyposy · 20/02/2020 23:06

And also - Ruschian (?) Schweppes mixer, delicious!
