Closed down or discontinued - what do you miss?

My local Oasis closed down before Christmas and I miss it so much! I've just been browsing their website and it's just not the same as seeing something on the hanger and thinking "ooh that's pretty!"
My favourite perfume and lipstick have been discontinued. I've been stockpiling thanks to ebay but they've been gone so long now I don't think I will get any more of either now. I won't look or smell the same soon Sad
What do you miss?
I fully expect this thread to be lots of people missing Woolworths and yes I still miss them too

OP posts:

Yes to Covent Garden General store, habitat and a cheaper version - I think it began with S ?? Scoops or something (I also miss my memory).

You can also get Anne French on Amazon! I’ve loved it for decades and have a good stockpile! 😀

Deathraystare · 21/02/2020 07:27

Gucci Envy. Anne French. BHS Bedding -got some just before they closed. Pretty grey print.
Will miss Bourjois.
Of course miss Woolies. I used to like the Evette make up they did. Did anyone remember the later make up called TU? Great strong eyeshadow shades.

Cosmetics to Go

Didn't like C&A much but had some fab yellow and navy shoes from there. Mum and Aunt used to regularly buy wigs there. Never knew what they would buy next! They bought hats too.

Gala nail polish. Borrowed mum's Red Cracknall. Lovely shade!
Angel Face make up by Ponds. Borrowed mum's block mascara - didn't know you had to add water!
Sosmix - a powder you added water to to make veggie sausagemeat. I hate d real sausages but loved this stuff. Made into patties. Very calorific though.
I think it was Granose who made a savoury pudding in a tin - a sort of veggie pastry pudding. Thoroughly calorific but I had it just at Christmas.
M&S Onion Tarte Tatin
Coty Airspun avocado cleansing milk
Delph cleansing milk and toner

shinynewapple2020 · 21/02/2020 10:11

@dayswithaY loved those cupcakes! I hate the ones you get now - so sickly.

peaceanddove · 21/02/2020 10:23

Back in the 90s Boots used to sell a body lotion and shower creme called something like Persian Roses or Persian Garden and it was Heaven in a bottle. Oh and really loved Nicky Clarke's Hairomatherapy collection in the aluminium bottles, it smelt divine.

TeaAddict235 · 21/02/2020 11:19

Jacobs crunch bars

(Not the bendy muesli bars that they have, Not Nature's Gate shite, pure and simple oat crunchy muesli bars by Jacobs the cracker maker

The world has gone belly up

Lostchocs · 21/02/2020 12:42

How did I not know that you can’t get Karvol any more? It was good stuff.

Cosmetics to Go was amazing. The hours I used to spend reading and re-reading the catalogues and compiling fantasy orders.

I’ve just remembered a couple of lunch box type cereal bars that I used to love in the 80s/early 90s. Jump bars - there was a chop chip one but I liked the apple one best. And Solero bars - these may have been a Waitrose own brand. They were really soft and banana-y and I can almost taste one now. The taste of break time in the first few years of secondary school. I don’t even like cereal bars these days but what I wouldn’t give to have those back.

Lostchocs · 21/02/2020 12:50

Oh! And on an Easter theme:

Rowntrees fresh minty eggs (early 80s - bigger than a creme egg)

Mackintosh toffee and mallow eggs (not sure when these disappeared. I wasn’t a massive fan)

Terrys Nutcracker eggs - These were only around for a few years in the early 90s and only around Easter. Two halves, each filled with caramel
And a hazelnut. The chocolate was moulded to look like a walnut shell. They had a gold wrapper and they were divine.

ShetlandWife · 21/02/2020 12:52

@deathraystare you can still get sosmix

Deathraystare · 21/02/2020 13:31

Shetland Wife - Really? Wonder if it tastes the same? You may have made my day! God help my diet though.
