Closed down or discontinued - what do you miss?

My local Oasis closed down before Christmas and I miss it so much! I've just been browsing their website and it's just not the same as seeing something on the hanger and thinking "ooh that's pretty!"
My favourite perfume and lipstick have been discontinued. I've been stockpiling thanks to ebay but they've been gone so long now I don't think I will get any more of either now. I won't look or smell the same soon Sad
What do you miss?
I fully expect this thread to be lots of people missing Woolworths and yes I still miss them too

Oh Virgin Vie, forget about them, I liked the sparkling crackle body mousse stuff

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 01/03/2020 14:53

Mention of Original Source reminds me that I really, really miss their anti-perspirant. It took me months to find a replacement that didn't bring me out in a rash (Mitchum) and I would still go back to Original Source in a flash.

@MrsFruitcake

Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Rubies is very close to Sun Moon Stars and cheap.

So many memories on this thread! I miss loads of the things mentioned. I didn’t know Cranks had closed down. I used to go to the one in Portobello in a Saturday for lunch, after a browse at the vintage clothes stores and before heading to the pub (ah, to be young and single!). Amazing quality and fairly cheap food.

doctorboo · 01/03/2020 19:31

I’m sat here feeling a bit weepy remembering the small things that I enjoyed as a child and teenager.

UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre · 01/03/2020 21:22

Virgin cola.
So much better than Pepsi or coke.

Toadsrevisited · 01/03/2020 21:28

Boots henna shampoo

feelingverylazytoday · 01/03/2020 21:52

Woolworths. For everything really, but especially the coffee creams in the pick 'n' nick mix.
Bakers oven.
Chelsea girl (though I'd be way too old for it now)
Superdrug own brand shampoo and conditioner for brunettes.
Forget what they were called, but it was a bar of cadburys chocolate made up of actual dairy milk chocolates joined together.
Old jamaica chocolate bars.
Kunzel cakes.
Mint cracknel chocolate bars.
Lemon opal fruits (replaced by disgusting blackcurrent ones).
Aztec bars.

feelingverylazytoday · 01/03/2020 22:00

Forgot one - those shops where you actually weigh out dry ingredients (like cornflakes, rice, lentils, oats, etc),put them in a paper bag and pay for whatever amount you bought instead of having to buy a set amount in a plastic bag. So useful when you're skint, must be quite enviromentally friendly as well.
Proper greengrocers. We used to have 2 in our small town, they both closed years ago.

TrickyD · 01/03/2020 22:04

East - I used to love their clothes. It has reappeared online only, but the dresses and everything else are horrible and far too expensive.

thenightsky · 01/03/2020 22:27

@feelinglazy Scoop and Save? Me and DH did our big shop there back in the day when totally skint.

thenightsky · 01/03/2020 22:28

No... I'm wrong. DH just reminded me it was Weigh and Save! How could I forget.

Howzaboutye · 01/03/2020 22:30

LesLavandres thanks for the Ortigia tip. Even the packaging looks gorgeous! I NEED to smell some of that!
Will have to go to Liberty's to check it out

Knucklehead101 · 01/03/2020 23:27

This could be my favourite thread ever! It’s made me all happy and sad at the same time! Yes to aqua libra I loved it so much. And to the M&S veggie bake. And Cosmetics to Go. It can’t just be nostalgia, surely things were just better ‘back in the day’

Knucklehead101 · 01/03/2020 23:28

Ooh and salad bars in supermarkets. Probably unhygienic but I used to love it

ArriettyJones · 02/03/2020 08:46

Yes to aqua libra I loved it so much.

Yes! I loved that stuff.

Purdeys seems to be back for good after years of being unfindable. But AL was even better.

beguilingeyes · 02/03/2020 09:13

Does anyone else remember Huntley and Palmers Butter Osbornes? Best biscuits ever.

I fear that Phase Eight is on it's way out. All three of the shops I used to browse in have closed and I can't be doing with only online ordering. I need to see the stuff.

beguilingeyes · 02/03/2020 09:14

Aqua Libra! Me too.

Kazzyhoward · 02/03/2020 09:36

Old jamaica chocolate bars.

Have just been re-released. I've seen (and bought) them in Spar garages - on offer at £1 per bar. I've looked but not seen them in supermarkets yet. You need to look carefully - they're in the dark red Bournville wrapper with quite small writing saying Old Jamaica - easy to miss.

feelingverylazytoday · 02/03/2020 13:04

Cheers Kazzy I'll keep my eyes open.

crapette · 02/03/2020 14:59

Oooh @Kazzyhoward OH is off back to the UK next week. I'll be adding a stash of those to his list.

I think that all the things I would have said have already been mentioned.

Gooseygoosey12345 · 02/03/2020 15:13

Turkey twizzlers. Always turkey twizzlers fucking Jamie Oliver

TrickyKid · 02/03/2020 15:27

Clinique gentle light powder. Never found a decent replacement.

rslsys · 02/03/2020 16:09

Belfast Linen - always had a sale on. I've still got linen glass cloths from there that polish like no others. They must be 30 years old!

For those in East Anglia - Gordon Thoday fabric shops.

Kia-Ora before they took the tartrazine out.

8misskitty8 · 03/03/2020 06:53

5 alive citrus juice.

Kellogg’s start cereal.

We had one of those shops to weigh dry things in bags. It was called the scoopermarket.

sueelleker · 03/03/2020 10:13

Forget what they were called, but it was a bar of cadburys chocolate made up of actual dairy milk chocolates joined together.
Milk Tray bars-the same as the boxes.
