Just spotted an Emirates cargo plane ostensibly en route from Houston-Amsterdam, not a normal time of day for a plane from the States to arrive if it was a passenger plane of course. It remains to be seen if it is actually going to Amsterdam of course.

Someone posted a screenshot of an A380 going to Chatearoux..

Apparently it's weight gouged a piece out of the taxi way

From what I have heard about that incident it's not the empty 380s weight that caused the problem (a 380s wheel loading is not significantly different than things like 747s and 777), it thatthe weight was put in the wrong place.

As I understood things it was a towing stuff up - Whoever was doing the towing got the wheels off the load bearing portion of the taxiway ( clearly marked by paint lines in images I have seen) and onto the soft non load bearing taxiway edge.

Morning fellow FR24 fans!! RAF Red Arrows XX311 are up again - heading west over Chesterfield 😁

thenightsky · 23/04/2020 14:31

A spitfire is up over the Lincolnshire Wolds!

thenightsky · 23/04/2020 14:31

And a Hurricane!

Hi Betty didn't know you were a flight enthusiast too! I've been looking all week at the quite large (seems to me) amount of US air force planes alongside the RAF. DS is desperate to join the RAF so he's just as addicted to the page as I am.

I was wasting a bit of time on FlightRadar this afternoon and saw a crash - first time I’ve seen it. A small plane in Mesquite, Texas, I picked it up because the plane icon on the app was bright red (which apparently means emergency) - it descended fast, circled a field and then disappeared. Later I did a google search and found the details, matching the location, on a local news site (1 person taken to hospital). Feels a bit weird.

peekaboob · 24/04/2020 22:48

Just an observation but does anyone else reckon that the US has equal to or more planes flying than the rest of the entire world?

DH said exactly that today!

notimagain · 25/04/2020 07:10

Wouldn't be surprised, given that international traffic has almost dried up.- The States has a massive domestic market and a lot of freight is moved by air - the quote below from the aviation stack exchange website refers to normal times:

"U.S.-flagged air carriers operating in the U.S. account for 28.3% worldwide scheduled operations while all air carrier traffic in North America accounts for 37.8% of worldwide traffic. "

hi pink good to see you

GoldenMalicious · 25/04/2020 11:57

I’m curious to know about this one - it says it’s travelling from Chicago to Toronto but is currently over London. There was another similar one yesterday which was allegedly going from Atlanta to Toronto. Both appear to be German registered but I can’t figure out why they’re down to fly to Toronto. Any ideas?

There are a group of helicopters over Scotland. Wonder what that is about?

Mrsmorton · 25/04/2020 14:16

Are they just the oil rig helicopters?

bettybattenburg · 25/04/2020 16:12

Bound to be the regular oil rig helicopters in and out of Aberdeen. You can see them going in and out of Bergen too.

notimagain · 25/04/2020 16:55

In terms of departure/destination data etc the current disruption means aircraft are perhaps using flight numbers/callsigns that the app databases don't recognise or cannot reconcile. This seems to have been a frequent problem over the last few weeks and is catching out some flights/callsigns out more than others.

Toronto has a major airport so there's no reason why Lufthansa cargo aircraft wouldn't fly there...

Bargainhuntbore · 27/04/2020 23:02

Loving watching it tonight. RAF planes training at Brize Norton

Papergirl1968 · 27/04/2020 23:29

Did you just see the RAF plane making pretty patterns off the east coast of Scotland? Including what looks like the Scottish flag!
It’s nearly back at Brize Norton now. I can’t screenshot due to damage phone.

Whenwillthewashingend · 28/04/2020 05:35

I can't sleep, and just spotted this.

Plane spotters and Aviation enthusiasts.

HoppingPavlova · 28/04/2020 06:08

I’m not an enthusiast but occasionally if bored think to check it for our Flying Doctor service. I did a bit of remote work at one stage and just think to look occasionally out of interest. Currently we have 7 in the air. I only stumbled across this in active topics, I don’t usually visit the thread.
